The CGSB is engaged in the prod

4、uction of voluntary standards in a wide range of subject areas through the media of standards committees and the consensus process. The standards committees are composed of representatives of relevant interests including producers, consumers and other users, retailers, governments, educational insti

5、tutions, technical, professional and trade societies, and research and testing organizations. Any given standard is developed on the consensus of views expressed by such representatives. The Ministers Advisory Council on CGSB reviews the results of the consensus process. The CGSB has been accredited

6、 by the Standards Council of Canada as a national standards-writing organization. The standards that it develops and offers as National Standards of Canada conform to the criteria and procedures established for this purpose by the Standards Council of Canada. In addition to standards it publishes as

7、 national standards, the CGSB produces standards to meet particular needs, in response to requests from a variety of sources in both the public and private sectors. Both CGSB standards and national standards developed by the CGSB are developed in conformance with the policies described in the Policy

8、 Manual for the Development and Maintenance of Standards by CGSB. CGSB standards are subject to review and revision at any time, so as to ensure that they keep abreast of technological progress. Suggestions for their improvement, which are always welcome, should be brought to the notice of the stand

9、ards committees concerned. Changes to standards are issued either as separate amendment sheets or in new editions of standards. An up-to-date listing of CGSB standards, including details on latest issues and amendments, and ordering instructions, will be found in the Catalogue of Standards and Quali

10、fication and Certification Listings which is published annually and is available without charge upon request. Although the intended primary application of this standard is stated in its Scope, it is important to note that it remains the responsibility of the users of the standard to judge its suitab

11、ility for their particular purpose. Many tests required by CGSB standards are inherently hazardous. The CGSB neither assumes nor accepts any responsibility for any injury or damage that may occur during or as the result of tests, wherever performed. The CGSB takes no position respecting the validity

12、 of any patent rights asserted with any item connected with this standard. Users of this standard are expressly advised that determination of the validity of any such patent rights are entirely their own responsibility. En consquence, les normes que lOffice labore et soumet titre de Normes nationales du Canada se conforment aux critres et procdures tablis cette fin par le Conseil canadien des normes. Outre la publication de normes nationales, IONGC rdige galement des no

17、rmes visant des besoins particuliers, a la demande de plusieurs organismes tant du secteur priv que du secteur public. Les normes de IONGC et les normes nationales tablies par cet organisme sont conformes aux politiques nonces dans le Manuel des politiques pour llaboration et la mise jour des normes

18、 de IONGC. tant donn lvolution technique, les normes de IONGC font lobjet de rvisions priodiques. Toutes les suggestions susceptibles den amliorer la teneur sont accueillies avec grand intrt et portes lattention des comits des normes concerns. Les changements apports aux normes font lobjet de modifi

19、catifs distincts ou sont incorpors dans les nouvelles ditions des normes. Une liste jour des normes de IONGC comprenant des renseignements sur les normes rcentes et les derniers modificatifs parus, et sur la faon de se les procurer figure au Catalogue des normes et du listage des homologations et de

20、s certifications publi chaque anne. Cette publication peut galement tre obtenue sur demande, sans frais. 25、l interest. The principal objectives of the Council are to foster and promote voluntary standardization as a means of advancing the national economy, benefiting the health, safety and welfare of the public, assisting and protecting the consumer, facilitating domestic and international trade, and fur

26、thering international cooperation in the field of standards. A National Standard of Canada is a standard which has been approved by the Standards Council of Canada and one which reflects a reasonable agreement among the views of a number of capable individuals whose collective interests provide, to

27、the greatest practicable extent, a balance of representation of producers, users, consumers and others with relevant interests, as may be appropriate to the subject in hand. It normally is a standard that is capable of making a significant and timely contnbution to the national interest. Approval of

28、 a standard as a National Standard of Canada indicates that a standard conforms to the cnteria and procedures established by the Standards Council of Canada. Approval does not refer to the technical content of the standard; this remains the continuing responsibility of the accredited standards-writi

29、ng organization. Those who have a need to apply standards are encouraged to use National Standards of Canada whenever practicable. These standards are subject to periodic review; therefore, users are cautioned to obtain the latest edition from the organization preparing the standard. The responsibil
