24、shall be of suitable size and shape and have adequate thickness of material. They shall be formed and assembled so that they (a) have the strength and rigidity necessary to resist the abuses to which they may be subjected, without increasing the fire or accident hazard due to deformation of the encl

25、osure resulting in reduction of spacings, loosening or displacement of parts, etc; and (b) afford protection against accidental contact with bare live parts. 4.5.2.2 Nonmetallic enclosures for electrical components shall (a) have a minimum wall thickness of 1.5 mm; (b) have limiting temperatures not

26、 less than the maximum temperatures to which they may be exposed during normal operation; and (c) comply with Test F (0.6 V-2) of CSA Standard C22.2 No. 0.6, except that the material may have a flammability classification of 0.6KB as determined by Test E of CSA Standard C22.2 No. 0.6, provided all o

27、f the following conditions are met: (i) all enclosure parts, including ribs, grills, and the like, are spaced not less than 12.7 mm from bare live parts; (ii) the material resists ignition f or a period not less than 7 s when tested in accordance with Test I (hot-wire ignition) of CSA Standard C22.2

28、 No. 0.6; and (iii) the material resists ignition when subjected to 60 arcs of the high current arc ignition test of CSA Standard C22.2 No. 0.11. 4.5.3 Openings in Enclosures 4.5.3.1 Openings in external enclosures shall not be located directly below terminals, heater assembly, wires, and other live

29、 parts, unless suitably baffled to prevent molten metal and flaming particles from falling through to the supporting surface. 4.5.3.2 Openings in external enclosures shall be constructed, located, or baffled to prevent a probe as shown in Figure 1 from being inserted to touch live parts, bare or ins

30、ulated. 4.5.4 Protection Against Rusting and Corrosion 4.5.4.1 Iron and steel parts shall be suitably protected against rusting and corrosion as required by CSA Standard C22.2 No. 0. C22.2 No. lOl-M1984 - March 1993 - Page 21 (Replaces p. 21, December 1984) 4.5.4.2 The surfaces of metal parts shall

31、be protected, if necessary, against scaling, flaking, or other effects of corrosive action that might cause subsequent reduction in the dielectric strength of controls. 4.5.5 Mechanical Assembly 4.5.5.1 Parts used in the construction of controls shall have adequate strength and shall be assembled an

32、d secured in position to ensure proper functioning under both normal and abnormal conditions that may be met in service. 4.5.5.2 Switches, lampholders, and thermostats shallbe fastened securely and rigidly so as to ensure that the required spacings are maintained. Such components, held by a single s

33、crew and lockwasher (eg, stem-mounted controls) shall be prevented from turning by a key or equivalent if movement may result in a hazardous condition. 4.5.5.3 A stop provided on a temperature adjustment of a control unit shall be durable and reliable if it is relied upon to prevent unsafe temperatu

34、res. It shall not be in the form of a projection on the body or control arm that is liable to breakage and it shall not be dependent on the design of a knob or lever that is removable. 4.5.5.4 All splices and connections shall be mechanically secure and shall provide adequate and reliable electrical

35、 contact. Except for printed circuit boards and hollow pin terminals into which the wire is inserted, soldered connections shall be made mechanically secure before being soldered if breaking or loosening of the connections might result in any hazardous condition. Splices shall be provided with insul

36、ation equivalent to that of the wires involved if the required spacing between splices and other metal parts is not assured. Note: In the case of hollow-pin terminals, mechanical security may be achieved by bending the stripped end of a solid or a solder-dipped stranded conductor back on itself to f

37、orm a “V“1 pushing it into a hollow pin that has a constriction at the open end so that the free end of the wire engages the constriction, and then soldering in place with a silver solder. 4.5.6 Electrical Insulation 4.5.6.1 Bare live parts shall be supported on heat resisting, moisture- absorption

38、resisting insulating material that is suitable for the particular application and that withstands the most severe conditions likely to be encountered in service. As an alternative the CARE symbols covered in CGSB Standard CAN2-86.l shall be

Tests 6.1 Teats Required and Order of Tests 6.1.1 Except as otherwise noted, 1 representative sample of the bedding applia

47、perature of thermostats shall be determined by any suitable method, such as a calibrating oven, whereby the temperature can be closely regulated and accurately measured. 6.23 Overload (Bedding Thermostats) Thermostats shall be subjected to lOOcycles of operation at a rate not exceeding 10 cycles/mm,

48、 making and breaking 15O of the current corresponding to the input of Clause 6.3.4 at C22.2 No. 101-M1984 - March 1993 - Page 42 (Replaces p. 42, December 1984) 125 V. 49、or any undue burning, pitting, or welding of the contacts. 6.24 Endurance (Bedding Thermostats) 6.24.1 Thermostats shall be subjected to 30 000 cycles of operation at a rate not exceeding 30 cycles/mm. 6.24.2 Thermostats shall be tested at 125 V and the inputdetermined in Clause 6.3.4, except that if they are tested in the bedding, the voltage may be that necessary to obtain the input of Clause 6.3.4.
