19、, Part I.1.2This Standard covers(a)fuseholders intended for use with fuses covered by the CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 248 series of Standards when no fuseholder is specified in the CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 4248 series;(b) High rupture capacity (HRC) fuses not exceeding 6000 A and 600 V and conforming to CSA C22.2 No

20、. 106; and(c) fuseholder accessories (e.g., covers, indicators, adapters, etc.).1.3This Standard does not cover fuseholders for renewable fuses (i.e., Class H-Renewable fuses) which are covered by CSA C22.2 No. 4248.6, Fuseholders, Part 6, Class H.1.4This Standard specifies requirements for the oper

28、 of Protection Provided by Enclosures (IP Code)3 DefinitionsThe following definitions shall apply in this Standard:Ambient temperature the temperature of the air (or medium) surrounding the fuseholder. 2013 CSA Group Fuseholder assembliesMarch 2013 3Clearance the shortest distance in air between two

29、 conductive parts.Cold-moulded composition may consist of materials such as phenolic, melamine, or melamine-phenolic compounds, and includes materials having filler systems of fibrous (other than synthetic organic) types; but, excludes fibre reinforcement systems using resins that are applied in liq

30、uid form. Synthetic organic fillers are considered acceptable at temperatures not greater than 105 C. Cold-moulded composition may also consist of inorganic (e.g., hydraulic cement) compounds.Contacts the parts of the fuseholder that provide electrical contact between the fuse (fuse-link) and the fu

31、seholder.Creepage the shortest distance along the surface of the insulating material between two conductive parts.Dummy fuse a device used during the test for verification of temperature rise.Enclosed fuseholder an insulated enclosure that holds, supports, and surrounds the fuse. Notes: (1) Exposed

32、terminals are typically inaccessible from the outside of equipment after installation.(2) Types of enclosed fuseholders include panel mount, in-line, and modular fuseholders.Fuseholder a device that(a)provides mechanical support for a fuse;(b) maintains creepage and clearance for a fuse;(c) provides

33、 means to connect a fuse in a circuit; and(d) allows for fuse replacement.Fuse a protective device that opens a circuit during specified overcurrent conditions by means of a current-responsive element.In-line fuseholder a type of enclosed fuseholder that is in line with the application wiring and ha

34、s two separable halves. Note: The fuse remains in the load side housing when the two halves are separated.Live parts conductive parts that are intended to operate at a potential different from that of the earth.Open-fuse indicator a means to indicate that a fuse has operated.Panel mount fuseholder a

35、 type of enclosed fuseholder that is mounted through a panel and includes a removable fuse carrier. Notes: (1) The carrier extends outside the panel and contains the fuse. (2) The housing is located behind the panel. (3) Line and load side terminals are located behind the panel. (4) The housing is s

36、ecured to the panel.Rating a designated limit on operating characteristics based on specified conditions, such as current, voltage, and frequency.Current rating the maximum ampere rating, based on specified conditions, that is assigned to a fuseholder.Note: Each fuseholder can accommodate a range of

37、 fuses based on its body size, such as 31 to 60 for a 60 A body size.Voltage rating the maximum voltage for which a fuseholder is designed.Rejection member a means to prevent the installation of any fuse other than that for which the fuseholder is intended.C22.2 No. 39-13 2013 CSA Group4 March 2013W

38、iring terminal a part of the fuseholder that provides a means to connect the conductors to the fuseholder.4 General requirementsGeneral requirements applicable to this Standard are given in CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 0.5 Operating conditionsThe requirements of this Standard are based on fuseholders being use

39、d in a clean and dry environment under normal ambient temperature conditions. The manufacturer should be consulted if fuseholders are used under extreme conditions.6 Classification and characteristics6.1 Intended useThe fuseholders covered by this Standard are classified according to the fuse type i

40、ntended for installation in the fuseholder. Notes: (1) Refer to the class designation system specified in the CAN/CSA-C22.2No. 248 series of Standards and CSA C22.2 No.106.(2) For example, a Class C fuseholder is intended to accept a Class C fuse.6.2 Voltage and current ratingThe voltage and current

41、 rating of a fuseholder shall be equal to or greater than the rating for the fuse that it accepts.7 Construction7.1 ComponentsThe compound parts of a fuseholder shall comply with the applicable CSA Standard(s) as listed in Clause 2, except that it need not comply with requirements that(a)involve a f

42、eature or characteristic not needed in the application of the component in the product covered by this Standard; or(b) are superseded by a requirement in this Standard.7.2 Bases and supports Insulating material7.2.1Polymeric insulating materials shall have flammability ratings at least as high as th

43、e minimums specified in Table 1 and shall be subjected to the thermal strength test specified in Clause 7.3.3. The thermal strength test need not be performed on rigid thermosetting materials.7.2.2Porcelain, slate, marble, phenolic composition, and cold-moulded composition may support an uninsulated

44、 live part without complying with the requirements in Table 1 or the thermal strength test.
