Up to now, DIN 1946-6:1998-10 contained all require
、ments for residential building ventilation measures. In the meantime, several new European standards affecting parts of this standard have been published. These are notably Parts 1 to 10 of the DIN EN 13141 series of standards, as well as DIN EN 13142, DIN EN 13465, DIN EN 15242 and CEN/TR 14788. Th
、is has made it necessary to revise DIN 1946-6. In addition to the changes necessitated by the aforesaid European standards, supplementary information arising as a result of technical progress has been added. This applies in particular to the explanatory information on air quality and rational energy
、 use. Components and products for ventilation systems shall be selected on the basis of the key performance characteristics described in the European standards. With regard to components/products and ventilation units for ventilation systems, DIN 4719 describes some key performance characteristics w
、hich are not currently dealt with in European standards. These characteristics have been defined in an effort to facilitate the design, construction and operation of improved ventilation systems and units in terms of hygiene, energy consumption and noise emission. DIN 1946-6 has also been influenced
、 by European Standards that implement the Energy Efficiency Directive, Directive 2006/32/EC, e.g. DIN EN 15239 Guidelines for inspection of ventilation systems as well as DIN EN 15251, which deals with environmental input parameters for design and for the assessment of indoor air quality. DIN 18017-
、3, which applies to the ventilation of rooms without windows built according to the Bauaufsichtlichen Richtlinie ber die Lftung fensterloser Kchen, Bder und Toilettenrume in Wohnungen (BRL) (Building authority guidelines on the ventilation of kitchens, bathrooms and toilet rooms without windows in r
、esidential buildings), has been also revised. Amendments This standard differs from DIN 1946-6:1998-10 as follows: a) the contents have been harmonized with current European standards; b) a method of defining a ventilation concept has been described with the aim of determining the necessity of venti
、lating measures and selecting a ventilation system for dwelling units and/or individual rooms of a building; c) in addition to the existing ventilation operating levels, namely intensive ventilation, nominal ventilation and reduced ventilation, a fourth level has been defined and described, namely m
、oisture-prevention ventilation; d) the outdoor air flow rates corresponding to the individual ventilation operating levels have been modified; e) clauses relating to ventilation systems and units in order to provide better indoor air quality and achieve higher energy efficiency have been added, as w
、ell as descriptions of the uniform application of acoustical requirements specified in various European Standards; f) the method of calculating the outdoor air flow by means of in- and exfiltration has been updated to reflect the current state of the art; DIN 1946-6:2009-05 6 g) clauses on the opera
、tion of ventilation systems when heating appliances depending on indoor air supplies are in place, clauses on documentation and marking, on commissioning and handover to users as well as on maintenance have been brought up to the state of the art or have been added; h) designation of the ventilation
、 operating level “basic ventilation” (German Grundlftung) has been changed to “nominal ventilation” (German Nennlftung) and that of “minimum ventilation” (German Mindestlftung) has been changed to “reduced ventilation” (German reduzierte Lftung) in order to avoid confusion with terms used in other s
、tandards, laws and regulations. Previous editions DIN 1946-6: 1994-09, 1998-10 DIN 1946-6:2009-05 7 1 Scope This standard applies to the natural ventilation and fan-assisted ventilation of dwellings and similarly used groups of rooms (dwelling units). This standard specifies requirements on the plan
、ning, design and commissioning, and the operation and maintenance of the required ventilation components and/or units for natural ventilation systems and fan-assisted ventilation systems, making due allowance for aspects of construction engineering physics, ventilating, hygiene and energy utilizatio
、n. In addition, the standard also specifies a marking scheme for natural ventilation systems and fan-assisted ventilation systems. This standard does not apply to active cooling1)air treatment methods nor to active humidification and dehumidification. Standard DIN 18017-3, which is based on Bauaufsi
、chtliche Richtlinie ber die Lftung fensterloser Kchen, Bder und Toilettenrume in Wohnungen (BRL), additionally applies for the ventilation of rooms without windows. 2 Normative references The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of this document.
