、UDC 62-408 : 621-2 : 681-2 : 001.4 DEUTSCHE NORM June 1982 Surfaces of components used in mechanical engineering and light engineering Terminology according to stress conditions DIN 4764 Oberflchen an Teilen fr Maschinenbau und Feinwerktechnik; Begriffe nach der Beanspruchung Supersedes June 1965 ed

、ition This standard deals with the terminology related to the surfaces of components used in mechanical engineering and in light engineering, from the aspect of the stresses and strains which arise most frequently. Standardized concepts have been introduced for the surfaces in accordance with the na

、ture of the stressing to which they are exposed, in order to facilitate mutual understanding. The components used in mechanical engineering and in light engineering are subjected to widely varying kinds of stresses in practice. As a general rule, they interrelate with other solid, liquid or gaseous

、bodies. This interplay of body and counterbody is governed not only by the material properties, but to a very large extent also by the geometrical characteristics of the surfaces concerned. The surfaces of the counterbody which interrelate with stressed surfaces are called counter-surfaces. In order

、 to ensure the best possible behaviour in service of a technical body, the surface must be properly adapted to the stress. In many cases the surface of a body is exposed simultaneously to several kinds of stress. The possible combinations are so varied and numerous that they cannot be enumerated in

、this standard. 1 Surfaces not stressed mechanically, or only marginally stressed l) Concepts Definition I Term 1.1 Exposed facel) Surface which has chiefly only to satisfy requirements deter- mined by aesthetic or physio- logical considerations 1.1.1 1.1.2 Visible facel) Inverted facer) Exposed face
