In keeping with current practice in standards published by the International Organization for Standardization (/SO), a comma has been used throughout as the decimal marker. 1 Scope and field of application This standard establishes a system of designating

3、lubri- cants and of marking lubricating containers and equipment, and lubricating points,the aim being to prevent damage due to the wrong lubricant being used for a particular appli- cation. If containers used for shipping lubricants are also to be marked, the same symbols should be used. See DIN 86

4、59 Part 1 for identification of lubricating points on machine tools. 2 Designation and marking 2.1 General Lubricants are designated by a code consisting of letters and numbers enclosed in a geometrical symbol (to identify the class of lubricant). Where such code is used for marking purposes, the ba

5、ck- ground colourshall be white and the lettering shall be black. 2.2 Designation of oils and fluids 2.2.1 Lubricating oils, special oils and fire-resistant hydraulic fluids Lubricating oils, special oils and fire-resistant hydraulic fluids shall be designated as follows: letter code and geometrical

6、 symbol as in table 1, supple- mented, when required, by one or more code letters as in table 3 and the viscosity grade number as in table 2. Examples: 1. AN150 2. HLP46 2.2.2 Synthetic and semisynthetic fluids Synthetic and semisynthetic fluids (except for lubricating oils for internal combustion e

7、ngines and oils for automotive gears) shall be designated by the code letters and the geo- metrical symbol as in table 1. Examples: 1. CLP PG 220 2. VDL HC 46 2.3 Designation of lubricating oils for use in inter- nal combustion engines and automotive gears Lubricating oils for use in internal combus

8、tion engines and automotivegearsshall be designated bythe lettercode and geometrical symbol as in table 1,the API code as in table 4 or 5, and the SAE viscosity grade as in table 6 or 7. Examples: 1, HD SF 15W-40 2. HD CD 30 3. HYPGL490 In the case of synthetic lubricating oils,the symbols given in

9、table 1 shall be added. Example: HD HC SG 5W-50 2.4 Designation of lubricating greases Lubricating greases shall be designated as follows.
