28、a suitable nominal length. In assemblies where the grip length is as specified in Table 4 but the washer as in DIN 7989-1 is replaced by other intermediate elements, the latter shall have a total thickness equal to that of the washer. Washers complying with DIN 7989-2 may be used without restriction

NOTE Where countersunk head bolts are to be assembled with nuts conforming to DIN EN ISO 4034 and the grip length is as specified in Table 4, it may be necessary to further reduce the bolt length within the specified tolerance in order to ensure a minimum end protrusion of 1 P (see Figure 2). Use
30、of assemblies with grip lengths deviating from this standard is permitted if the requirements specified in the relevant standards are fulfilled.
