4、 Purpose This Standard contains definitions for the formation of classes of application for measuring and indicating devices and their transmitters (in the following called “device“) in motor vehicles in dependence of their possibility of use under temperature loads and in the service voltage range.

5、 This Standard is used as a basic Standard. 7、he term “ambient temperature“ is defined in DIN 40 040. 3.1.2 Lower operating limit temperature The lower operating limit temperature is the lowest ambient temperature at which the device may be operated. 3.1.3 Upper operating limit temperature The upper operating limit temperature is the highest am

8、bient temperature at which the device may be operated. 3.1.4 Lower storage limit temperature The lower storage limit temperature is the lowest temperature at which storage or transportation of the individual device is permissible. The device is not in operation at this temperature. 3.1.5 Upper stora

9、ge limit temperature The upper storage limit temperature is the highest ambient temperature at which storage or transportation of the individual device is permissible. A storage in the sense of this definition also comprises production processes in automotive production (e. g. paint drying) and cond

10、itions in the engine compartment (e. g. choked heat) at which the device is not operated.
