、 (EN 14043:2014) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 192 “Fire and rescue service equipment” (Secretariat: BSI, United Kingdom), Working Group WG 4 “High rise aerial appliances” (Secretariat: DIN, Germany). The responsible German body involved in its preparation was the Normenausschuss F
、euerwehrwesen (Firefighting and Fire Protection Standards Committee), Working Committee NA 031-04-08 AA Hubrettungsfahrzeuge. The revision of DIN EN 14043:2009-07 became necessary to adapt the technical content to the current state of the art and to support future developments. The previous editions
、 of this European Standard (DIN EN 14043), together with DIN EN 14044 (High rise aerial appliances for fire and rescue service use Turntable ladders with sequential movements Safety and performance requirements and test methods) and DIN EN 1777(Hydraulic platforms (HPs) for firefighting and rescue s
、ervices Safety requirements and testing) superseded the national standards DIN 14701-1:1989-04, DIN 14701-2:1989-04 and DIN 14701-3:1991-07 which specified requirements for and the testing of turntable ladders and similar firefighting vehicles in Germany. In accordance with Clause 6 of this European
、 Standard, the following designations for the various types of turntable ladders covered in DIN 14701-2 are recommended: Turntable ladder EN 14043 DLA 23/12 for DL 23-12 turntable ladders as in DIN 14701-2, Turntable ladder EN 14043 DLAK 23/12 for DLK 23-12 turntable ladders as in DIN 14701-2, Turnt
、able ladder EN 14043 DLA 18/12 for DL 18-12 turntable ladders as in DIN 14701-2, Turntable ladder EN 14043 DLAK 18/12 for DLK 18-12 turntable ladders as in DIN 14701-2, Turntable ladder EN 14043 DLA 12/9 for DL 12-9 turntable ladders as in DIN 14701-2, Turntable ladder EN 14043 DLAK 12/9 for DLK 12-
、9 turntable ladders as in DIN 14701-2. DIN EN 14043:2014-04 3 The standard loads to be given when ordering turntable ladders in Germany are listed in the national Annex NA. According to the German guidelines, the Richtlinie fr die operativ-taktische Adresse (OPTA) im Digitalfunk der Behrden und Orga
、nisationen mit Sicherheitsaufgaben laid down by the Ausschuss fr Informations- und Kommunikationswesen des Arbeitskreises V of the German Conference of Interior Ministers (IMK), only eight symbols may be used in the short designations for firefighting vehicles and other vehicles used for emergency s
、ervices and civil protection. These guidelines were laid down as a technical standard at Federal level and it is recommended that they also be introduced in the Lnder. Therefore, the steering committee NA 031 BR Lenkungsausschuss des Normenausschusses Feuerwehrwesen (FNFW) has decided to include the
、 nominal rescue projection in designations of turntable ladders. These short designations as decided on by NA 031 BR are included in the list of firefighting vehicle types maintained by the FNFW (availabile at the FNFWs Internet site, www.fnfw.din.de). The compact FNFW vehicle type list includes the
、 most important vehicle types that are included in standards developed by the FNFW. Working Committee NA 031-04-08 AA Hubrettungsfahrzeuge recommends the use of a three-person crew (1 driver + 2 persons; in German Truppbesatzung 1/2), and to ensure operability even in narrow areas a minimum load car
、rying capacity of two persons at a jacking width of 4,5 m or lower so that the nominal rescue projections specified for that type of ladder can be reached. Greater nominal projections and jacking widths are permitted at the responsibility of the manufacturer. It is recommended not to exceed a maximu
、m vehicle width of 2,5 m. Users of this European Standard should note that the specifications of the German Lnder building regulations, as well as DIN 14090, apply as regards the space necessary to ensure fire brigade access to premises; these specifications will have an effect on the design of vehi
、cles as in this standard, e.g. dimensions, gross laden mass and axle loads. Users should also note that in addition to the general requirements for firefighting vehicles in accordance with DIN EN 1846-2 and DIN EN 1846-3, the national standards E DIN 14502-2 and DIN 14502-3 are applicable. Specifica
、tions regarding periodic inspections of firefighting vehicles are given in BGG/GUV-G 9102, Prfgrundstze fr Ausrstung und Gerte der Feuerwehr (Test criteria for firefighting equipment). Amendments This standard differs from DIN EN 14043:2009-07 as follows: a) ladder class 30 to 56 has been added; b)
