DIN EN 1777:2009-08 may be used in parallel until 1 September 2010. National foreword This standard includes safety requ

The responsible German body involved in its preparation was the Normenausschuss Feuerwehrwesen (Firefighting and Fire Protection Standards Committee), Technical Co
、mmittee NA 031-04-08 AA Hubrettungsfahrzeuge. Safety requirements and test methods for hydraulic platforms for fire fighting and rescue services have been specified so that this document can be deemed a harmonized standard which can be applied to fulfil the essential requirements of the New Approach
、 Directive 2006/42/EC (Machinery Directive). The legal status of this standard is as follows: This standard contains specifications meeting the essential requirements set out in the “Machinery Directive”, Directive 2006/42/EC, and which apply to machines that are either first placed on the market or
、 commissioned within the EEA. This standard serves to facilitate proof of compliance with the essential requirements of the directive. Once this standard is cited in the Official Journal of the European Union, it is deemed a “harmonized” standard and thus, a manufacturer applying this standard may a
、ssume compliance with the requirements of the Machinery Directive (“presumption of conformity”). The August 2009 edition of this standard has been revised to bring the content into line with the state of the art and with the most commonly used types of hydraulic platforms. Specifications regarding t
、he use of safety harnesses in the cage for self-securing are given in the Feuerwehr-Dienstvorschrift (FwDV) 1 (Fire Service Directive 1). Unlike the European Standards for turntable ladders, DIN EN 14043 and DIN EN 14044, this standard does not specify performance requirements for a particular type
、of hydraulic platform or classify HPs according to type or working height. This standard deals only with the technical safety requirements to minimize hazards when using HPs. For this reason, the performance requirements can be laid down by each European country individually. In Germany, publication
、 of a national standard on this topic is intended. Analogous to DIN EN 14043 and DIN EN 14044, type HAB 23/12 will be taken into account in that standard. The DIN Standards corresponding to the International Standards referred to in this document are as follows: ISO 2408 DIN EN 12385-1 (modified ver

、 CEN/TS 15989 referred to in clause 2 of the EN has been published in Germany as DIN SPEC 1103 (DIN CEN/TS 15989). 2 DIN EN 1777:2010-06 Amendments This standard differs from DIN EN 1777:2009-08 as follows: a) The scope has been revised to state more precisely the limitation to HPs with classificati
、on group B type 1 as in DIN EN 280:2001, 1.4, only, and the deletion of requirements and tests relating to all other groups and types not covered by the scope. Flat belts for extending structure drive systems have been excluded from the scope. b) Terms 3.1 “hydraulic platform (HP)” and 3.25 “levelli
、ng” and their definitions have been included. c) Some terms and definitions have been revised. d) The list of significant hazards has been editorially revised and hazards relating to self-propelled HPs and group A HBs (where the vertical projection of the centre of gravity of the load is always insi
、de the tipping lines) have been deleted as these are outside the scope. e) Specific tests have been linked directly to the appropriate requirement. f) Requirements relating to temperature range, forces, calculation, fatigue stress analysis, chassis and stabilizers have been revised. g) Requirements
、and tests relating to a “Moment sensing system with increased safety requirements and enhanced overload criteria” have been included as a new, fourth solution to reduce tilting hazards and hazards caused by exceeding permissible loads. h) Requirements and tests relating to a minimum residual load of
、 6 % of the unladen mass of the vehicle (obtained on the not loaded side, in the most unfavourable position) have been included. i) A new subclause 5.13 “Safety devices” analogous to EN 280/A1:2004 has been included. j) It has been specified that the extending structure is to be supported in the tra
、nsport position so as to avoid harmful vibrations during transport. k) Failures in wire rope or chain drive systems for the extending structure now are to be self-revealing. l) The maximum tensile grade of the wires in wire rope drive systems for the extending structure has been increased to 2 160 N
、/mm2. m) Leadscrew and rack and pinion drive systems have been deleted. n) Warning signals are now to consist of a continuous visual warning and an acoustic signal. o) The height difference after the static overload test now depends on the rescue height (for HPs with a rescue height up to 30 m, the
、height difference is to be less than 100 mm following application of 150 % of the rated load 10 min after unloading; for HPs with a rescue height exceeding 30 m, the maximum height difference is to be stated by the manufacturer). p) Emergency evacuation means for the platform have been added (rescue
、 ladder fixed in parallel to the extending structure or alternatives after carrying out a risk assessment). q) Requirements for platform doors and guardrails/handrails have been revised. r) Specifications for anchoring points for the allowed number of persons in the cage for personal protective equi
、pment against falling have been included. 3 DIN EN 1777:2010-06 s) Specifications for a device capable of stopping all aggravating movements on sustaining impact have been included. t) Requirements and tests relating to operator seat, controls and electrical systems have been revised. u) The specifi
、cations relating to pneumatic and hydraulic control systems have been revised so that, in addition to the specific requirements, basic standards DIN EN 983 and DIN EN 982 now also apply. v) Requirements and tests relating to the static tilt angle have been revised. w) Acceptance tests as well as per
、iodical examinations and tests are now also to include the static overload test. x) The instruction handbook is now also to include the test reports for any static and dynamic tests carried out. y) Operating instructions for emergency cases have been added. z) The specifications for marking have bee
、n revised. aa) Annexes A and B have been revised in accordance with the changes made in DIN EN 280. bb) The former Annex F (Calculation example Dynamic factor, kerb test) has been deleted, because the kerb test relates to self-propelled HPs, which are not covered by this standard. cc) The normative
、references now include the following additional standards: EN 842, EN 894-1, EN 894-2, EN 894-3, prEN 894-4, EN 981, EN 982, EN 983, EN 1846-3, CEN/TS 15989, EN ISO 12100-1, EN ISO 12100-2, EN ISO 13732-1, EN ISO 13849-1:2008, EN ISO 13849-2, EN ISO 13850, EN ISO 14122-3, EN ISO 14122-4, ISO 3864-1,
