、, Cartridge operated hand-held tools Safety requirements Fixing and hard marking tools, which deals with safety requirements for cartridge operated fixing and hard marking tools, remains valid in parallel. The requirements for propellant cartridges laid down in the previous German Standards which we
、re taken directly from the decisions of the Permanent International Commission for the Proof of Small Arms (CIP) are also included in full in the present document, DIN EN 16264. The DIN Standards corresponding to the International Standards referred to in this document are as follows: ISO 2137:1985
、DIN ISO 2137:1985 ISO 2859-1 DIN ISO 2859-1 ISO 9237:1995 DIN EN ISO 9237:1995 Amendments This standard differs from DIN 7260-1:1976-03 and DIN 7260-2:1974-04 (both withdrawn 2011-08) as follows: a) the content of DIN 7260-1 and DIN 7260-2 has been partially taken over in DIN EN 15895 and DIN EN 162
、64, and the two national standards have been replaced by the two DIN EN Standards as follows: the safety requirements for cartridge operated fixing and hard marking tools laid down in DIN 7260-1:1976-03 and DIN 7260-2:1974-04 are now specified in DIN EN 15895:2011-08; see the Amend-ments clause of D
、IN EN 15895:2011-08 for the differences between that standard and the two previous national standards; the safety requirements for propellant cartridges laid down in DIN 7260-1:1976-03 and DIN 7260-2:1974-04 are now specified in the present standard, DIN EN 16264; b) changes to content: the scope of
、 the present standard only includes those calibres that are documented by the CIP as actually having market relevance and being in active use; the minimum content of the product documentation to be supplied to the notified body for type testing (Subclause 5.1.2) is more precisely worded and is consi
、derably more comprehensive; the equipment to be used for energy measurement (Subclause 5.5) deviates from that specified in DIN 7160. It corresponds to the standard CIP test barrel, which is also used for pressure measure-ment (Subclause 5.4). The specification of defined energy bands for different
、cartridge strengths has been deleted and replaced with the requirement that the actual energy is not to deviate from the value declared by the notified body by more than 20 %;DIN EN 16264:2014-11 3 The collation test described in Subclause 5.6 corresponds to the special system test of the CIP. It se
、rves to test the sufficient strength of the cartridge case and the collation strip for each tool type that the manufacturer wants to place on the market. The special system test previously defined in DIN 7260 involved a specially prepared test tool that the manufacturer had to present to the respons
、ible national CIP test laboratory (in Germany this is the PTB) for approval. However, CE conformity to Directive 2006/42/EC can now be declared by manufacturers themselves by referring to the harmonized European Standard EN 15895, without involving a notified body for machinery as in Annex IV, 18.,
、of Directive 2006/42/EC (in Germany this body is the PTB). Therefore, the use of a test tool that is approved by a public authority can no longer be required for the conformity testing of cartridges in new tools. For this reason, Subclause 5.6 defines several alternative methods which do not require
、 a specially designed test tool to supplement the previous methods. Note: This testing of collated cartridges in the system is also included in the 2011 edition of DIN EN 15895, which was published within the context of the Machinery Directive. A cooperation is planned between CEN/TC 213, which is r
、esponsible for EN 15895, and CEN/TC 212, which is responsible for EN 16264, for the purposes of harmonizing these two standards. This means that it might be possible to delete the collation test from DIN EN 15895 in the future; according to Subclause 5.7 of the present standard, the cartridges are t
、o be checked to verify the amount of unburned powder produced; Subclause 5.8 specifies new physical and chemical stability tests. These tests are related to the essential safety requirements laid down in 2007/23/EC; Subclause 5.9 specifies a mechanical conditioning test. This test is related to the
、essential safety requirements laid down in 2007/23/EC; according to Subclause 5.10, functional tests are to be carried out at extremely high and extremely low temperatures. The pressure measuring equipment described in Subclause 5.4 is to be used for this purpose, with modified acceptance criteria.
、This test is related to the essential safety requirements laid down in 2007/23/EC; Subclause 5.11 specifies a safety test to demonstrate safety against inadvertent ignition. This involves an impact test with controlled impact energy on the firing unit (for rimfire type cartridges this is the rim, fo
、r centre fire type cartridges this is the centre primer cup); according to Clause 6, cartridges that have passed the tests required by Clause 5 are to be categorized as P1 pyrotechnical articles; Subclause 7.2 contains extensive minimum requirements, including CE marking, for marking primary packs;
、Annex A specifies the procedures for type testing (module B), batch tests by the producer, which are required (module D), as well as test plans and acceptance criteria; c) the standard has been editorially revised. 42、16264:2014-11 EN 16264:2014(E)4 1 Scope This European Standard defines the procedures for classifying, testing and labelling of cartridges for powder actuated tools (PAT cartridges), as defined in Clause 3 of this standard. This European Standard does not apply to pyrotechnic articles containing bla
、sting agents and military explosives except black powder and flash composition. PAT cartridges contain pyrotechnic composition(s) delivering mainly gases, intended to propel a piston. The piston propels fasteners (e.g. nails) or drives hard marking characters into appropriate materials. This standar
、d also applies to PAT cartridges sold to persons younger than 18 years, if this is permitted by the member state due to the low hazard of the PAT cartridges. NOTE PAT cartridges can also be used for hard marking tools. Information on cartridge operated fixing and hard marking tools can be found in E
