SCOPE 1.1 ScoDe. This commerci
2、al item description covers cotton wrapping twine intended for general purpose usage. 2. CLASSIFICATION 2.1 Classification. The twine shall be of the size specified (see Table I and 7.2). 3. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS 3.1 Material and construction. The twine shall be fabricated from 100 percent natural
3、color cotton yarn or cotton/polyester blended yarns of suitable staple and grade to meet the requirements of this commercial item description. When cotton/polyester blended yarns are used, the polyester content shall be not less than 50 percent and not more than 65 percent. The twine shall be “S” tw
4、ist and shall have the physical properties in Table I. 3.2 Put-ur. The twine shall be put-up in a minimum weight of 1, 2, or 5 pound (0.453kg, 0.906kg, or 2.265kg) ball or cone, as specified. Each ball or cone shall be continuous throughout with no loose ends. The twine shall be wound so that each t
5、urn and layer are free from entanglement, and balls shall unwind from the inside without collapsing. Each ball or cone shall contain not more than one knot per 1/2 pound (0.226kg) of twine. Each cone shall have a red colored trailer or marker approximately 20 feet (6.lm) long attached ahead of the i

When mildew resistant twine is specified, the twine shall be treated with copper-8-quinolinolate. The color shall be that shade imparted
9、 by the treatment on natural-color twine. The inhibitor shall be applied from a solvent bath process so as to deposit within the twine a minimum of 0.13 to a maximum of 0.40 percent copper as metal from copper 8-quinolinolate. The contractor shall certify that any petroleum fractions, oils, or resin
10、s are of a non-oxidizing type and free of other copper compounds or naphthenic acids and its salts. 3.5 Workmanshiri. The twine shall have no defect that affects appearance or serviceability. 3.6 Measurement svstem. The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as the standard. The metric
11、 values stated in parentheses are for information purposes only. 3.7 Metric products. Products manufactured to metric dimensions will be considered on an equal basis with those manufactured using inch-pound units, providing they fall within the tolerances specified and all other requirements of this
12、 document are met. If a product is manufactured to metric dimensions and those dimensions exceed the tolerances specified in the inch-pound units, a request should be made to the contracting officer to determine if the product is acceptable. 3.8 Commercial item. The use of the term llcommercial item
13、 in this document does not imply that any item or items offered are not required to conform with all requirements specified herein. 4. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS. i 4.1 Resulatorv reauirements. The government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract. 6.
