This Commercial Item Description (CID) covers evaporated milk,

2、packed in commercially acceptable cans, suitable for use by the Federai Government. Salient characteristics. The evaporated milk shall be of the following types as specified in the solicitation, contract, or purchase order. TvDes- Type I - Evaporated milk, Vitamin D added Type II - Evaporated milk,

3、Vitamin A and D added Composition requirements: The evaporated milk shail comply with the composition requirements specified in 21 CFR 131.130. Flavor and odor: The evaporated milk shall possess a sweet, pleasing, and desirable flavor with not more than a deffite cooked flavor. It shall be free from

4、 scorched, oxidized, or other objectionable flavors and odors. 6、-20072B m 9999974 03b3990 498 A-A-20072B Consistency: The evaporated milk shall be stabilized and of medium viscosity with a uniform consistency and appearance. It shall be smooth and free from fat or protein separation, lumps, clots, gel formation, coarse milk solids precipitate or sedimentation, a

7、nd extraneous material. Color: The evaporated milk shall possess a uniform natural white to light cream color. The evaporated milk shall not be a dark cream to tan color which is an indication of excessive heat treatment. Can requirements: The interior walls of the cans shail not show excessive bum-

8、on of evaporated milk. Burn-on murs during the heating process when milk becomes fused to the can surfaces. When bum-on is greater than 75 percent of the can surface, it is considered excessive. The cans shall be free from leakers, rust, and other evidence of improper processing and storage. Age req

9、uirement: Unless otherwise specified in the solicitation, contract, or purchase order, the age of the evaporated milk at time of delivery shal not exceed 60 days after packing. Contractors certification. By submitting an offer, the contractor certifies that the evaporated milk offered meets the spec

10、ified salient characteristics and requirements of this CID; conforms to the producers own specifications and standards, including product characteristics, manufacturing proce- dures, quality control procedures, and storage and handling practices; has a national or regional distribution from storage

11、facilities located within the United States, its territories, or possessions; and is sold on the commercial market. The Govenunent reserves the right to determine proof of such conformance prior to the frrst delivery from point of origin and any time thereafter, up to and including delivery at final

12、 destination, as may be necessary to determine conformance with the provisions of the contract. Repulatorv requirements. The delivered evaporated milk shall comply with all applicable Federal and State mandatory requirements and regulations relating to the preparation, processing, packaging, labelin

13、g, storage, distribution, and sales of the evaporatd milk with the commercial marketplace. Delivered evaporated milk shall conform in every respect to the provisions of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act and regulations promulgated thereunder. 2 Provided by IHSNot for ResaleNo reproduction or

Prior to award of contracts, the piant which manufactures the evaporated milk shall be approved by the Dairy Grading Branch, Dairy Division, Agxicu1tum.l Marketing Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture. When required i

15、n the solicitation, contract, or purchase order, the Dairy Grading Bmch will determine the quality of the evaporated milk. The evaporated milk shall be examined or analyzed in accordance with applicable provisions in the CID, and when applicable, the United States Standards for Condition of Food Con

The evaporated milk shall be preserved, packaged, packed, labeled, and case marked in accordance with good commercial practice. Primary containers shall be packed in corrugated fiber

17、board shipping containers or corrugated fiberboard trays with pastic shrink wrap that will provide evaporated milk protection against loss and damage during multiple shipment, handling, and storage. Commercial labeling and packaging, as may be augmented by the solicitation, contract, or purchase ord

18、er, shall be acceptable. Shipping containers shall comply with the National Motor Freight Classification or Uniform Freight Classification, as applicable. Notes. Purchasers shaii specify: - Labeiing requirements, if different from commercial markings. - Type of evaporated milk. - If USDA is to perfo

19、rm an acceptance inspection. - If USDA is to perform a condition of container inspection. - Can and container pack sizes: 5 fluid ounces (147.87 mL) per can, packed 48 cans per case. 5 fluid ounces (147.87 mL) per can, packed 96 cans per case. I2 fluid ounces (354.88 mL) per can, packed 48 cans per
