SCOPE. This commercial item descriptio
2、n covers the requirement for irregular hexagon stoppers to be used to provide security for personnel and equipment in operations invoking steep ascents by placing the irregular hexagon stoppers into cracks in rocks. This piton is also known as a Hexentric Nut. 2. CLASSIFICATION. The irregular hexago
3、n stoppers shall be of the following sizes: Size I Size IIB - 1.625 _+ 0.100 inches width x 1.125 2 0.100 inches length and weight - 2.250 + 0.100 inches width x 1.625 2 0.100 inches length and weight shall be 1.02 ounces. shall be 2.46 ounces. The hexagon stoppers, (sizes I and IIB), shall be measu
4、red for width on their parallel sides. The length shall be measured along the longest dimension, perpendicular to width measurement. 3. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS. 3.1 Design and construction The hexagon stoppers shall be 6061 - T6 aluminum. They shall have four holes sufficiently wide enough to accept
5、 an 8-mm rope with which to sling the irregular hexagon. Color shall be natural. Each item shall be stamped with the , manufacturers identification symbol (see figure I). 7、materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). 5. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS. 5.1 Product conformance. The products provided shall meet the salient characteristics of this commercial item description, conform to the pro
8、ducers own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices, and to be the same product offered for sale in the commercial market. The government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance. 5.2 Visual examination Each item shall be examined for the defects, listed be
9、low. Defects. Not free of burrs, rough spots, sharp edges, slivers, flat areas or projections; any component missing or not specified type; any component fractured, split, dented, bowed, malformed, damaged or loose; the four drilled holes not free of sharp edges; not smooth and continuous; markings
10、in wrong locations, incomplete, illegible, or not as specified. 5.3 Dimensional examination The stoppers shall be measured as described in paragraph 2 without damaging or disassembling the stoppers. Any dimension not within the specified tolerances shall be classified as a defect. 5.4 Acceptance cri
11、teria. Acceptance criteria shall be as specified in the contract or purchase order. 6. PACKAGING. 6.1 Preservation, packing, and marking.
