SCOPE. This commercial item description covers the requiremen
2、ts for the cramponstraps, which are intended to keep the crampon firmly affixed to the soldiers footwear.2. CLASSIFICATION. The crampon straps shall be of one type and size.3. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS.3.1 Design and construction. The crampon straps when used with A-A-50117;Crampons, Hinged, shall be
3、neoprene coated nylon webbing with brass center barbuckles, copper or brass rivets, and corrosive resisting steel or brass slide buckles. Thebuckle frame shall have a minimum breaking strength of 350 pounds when tested asspecified in paragraph 3.2. The strap widths shall be + 0.008 inch. Straps for
4、one pairof crampons shall consist of the following pieces:Quantity Description2 Center bar buckles riveted to a strap 5 +1, -0 inches in length as measuredfrom the center of the center bar buckle to the tip of the strap.2 Center bar buckles riveted to a strap 7 +1, -0 inches in length as measuredfro

7、nter bar buckles. The holes shallstart within 1 to 1 inches from the end of the straps and be evenlyspaced a distance of 5 + 3/16 inches from the first hole.8 Slide buckles with an inside width of 5/8 + 1/16 inch.The crampon straps shall also be furnished with assembly and lacing instructions.3.2 Te
8、sting. Randomly select two sets of crampon straps from the end item lot and testeach of the buckles for breaking strength by placing a loop of the strap material aroundeach end of the buckle, fastening the loops in the jaws of a tensile testing machine with acapacity greater than 700 pounds and pull
9、ing the entire assembly. The jaws of the tensiletesting machine shall be set at a separation of 5 inches and shall separate at a rate of 0.5inches per minute. Failure of the buckle at a strength less than 350 pounds constitutesfailure of the test. Crampon straps shall be compatible with A-A-50117; C
10、rampons,Hinged. Any failure shall be cause for rejection of the end item lot from which thesample was selected.4. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to userecovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph23.403 of the Federal Acquisition R
11、egulation (FAR).5. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS.5.1 Product conformance. The products provided shall meet the salient characteristics ofthis commercial item description, conform to the producers own drawings,specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices, and to be the same productoffere
12、d for sale in the commercial market. The government reserves the right to requireproof of such conformance.5.2 Visual examination. Each item shall be examined for the defects listed below.Defects. Finish not smooth and adherent; not free of burrs, rough spots, sharp edges,slivers, flat areas or proj
13、ections; any component missing or not specified type; anycomponent fractured, split, dented, bowed, malformed, damaged or loose; rivets notproperly peened; nylon webbing has cuts and/or nicks; not compatible with A-A-50117;Crampons, Hinged; markings in wrong location, incomplete, illegible, or not a
14、s specified.5.3 Dimensional examination. The crampon straps shall be examined without damagingor disassembling the item. Any dimension not within the specified tolerances shall beclassified as a defect. The lot size shall be expressed in units of straps. The sample unitshall be one set of straps.Pro
