SCOPE. This commercial i
2、tem description covers the requirements for boots intended to provide safety when worn to climb wooden poles, to work at heights as great as 90 feet, and to climb steel structures at even greater heights for long periods of time and while handling heavy tools, equipment, and materials. 2. SALIENT CH
3、ARACTERISTICS 2.1 Descriution. The boots shall be black welt constructed, either 10 or 16 inches in height, and fully laced with eyelets and hooks. Each boot shall have a safety box toe, steel shank, an outside counter with an extended inner side pocket, a backstay with a pull-on loop, a full length
4、 midsole, a full length nonmarking rubber outsole, a leather insole, and a logger-type heel with an extra lift to adapt to all conventional climbing irons. 3.2 Materials 3.2.1 Basic material. The uppers (see Table I), the insoles, the midsoles, and the heel wedges shall be cut from grain out leather
5、 that has been treated for water resistance and contains not less than O. 18 percent and nor more than 0.70 percent paranitrophenol fungicide (amisal and vitasan are acceptable alternate fungicidies for paranitrophenol). As an alternate, the midsole may be fabricated from leatherboard and the heel w
6、edges may be fabricated from plastic. Insoles. The leather insoles shall be chrome-tanned and not less than 8 irons in thickness. 3.2.3 Midsole. Th
