2、l Item Description in preference to Military Specification MIL-C-788. ABSTRACT Abstract. The cloth shall be one type of cotton brattice cloth with a flame-retardant finish used in conjunction with an adhesive for repairing and covering the surface of fibrous glass insulation board. SALIENT CHARACTER

3、ISTICS General description. The yarn shall be made of cotton of a suitable length of staple and grade which has been thoroughly cleaned, drawn, and evenly spun into singles yarn. The color of the finished cloth shall be natural. The weave shall be plain or twill. The width of the cloth inclusive of

4、selvages shall be as specified. The width shall have a tolerance of 2 1 inch (2.5 cm). When the cloth has shuttleless loom selvages, the width of the cloth shall be as specified and shall be the minimum width of the cloth, excluding the selvages. a - Beneficial comments (recommendations, additions,

The fabric shall be subjected to a natural finish and treated w

7、ith a flame retardant that shall be compatible with the adhesive covered by Class 1 of MIL-A-3316 for drying time and adhesive strength. The adhesive shall dry to touch within a period of 4 hours and dry thoroughly to constant weight within a period of 48 hours. Specimens shall have an average adhes

8、ive strength of not less than 3 pounds (13.4 Newtons) when prepared and tested according to the Compatibility Test of drying time and adhesive strength specified under End Item performance testing. 11、oth meets the stated requirements. If the Government requires proof that the cloth meets the stated requirements, the test methods indicated shall be used. A certificate of compliance will be acceptable. Lenqth and put UP. The minimum length of a continuous piece shall be 40 yards (36.4 m). No roll

Each roll shall

13、 be labeled or ticketed for fiber content in accordance with the Textile Fiber Products o Identification Act. Workmanship. After completion, the finished cloth shall be thoroughly cleaned, and all loose thread, lint, and foreign matter removed. QUALITY ASSURANCE Certification. The contractor shall c

14、ertify, and maintain substantiating evidence that the product offered meets the salient characteristics and requirements of this Commercial Item Description and that the product conforms to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices. The Government reserve

15、s the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract. Visual examination. Cloth lots shall be inspected in accordance with ANSI/ASQC 21.4. The inspection level shall be II and the acceptable qual

16、ity level (AQL), expressed in terms of defects per hundred units, shall be 4.0. The lot size shall be expressed in units of yards. The sample unit shall be one linear yard full width of the finished cloth. Defects. The cloth shall be examined for the following defects: any hole, cut, tear or open pl

17、ace; any smash, multiple floats, jerked in filling; any slub or knot (to be scored only when it exceeds three times the normal yarn size); any spot or stain; any crease or wrinkle; any baggy, ridgy, or wavy cloth; width more or less than specified (shall not be scored unless it occurs for more than

18、5 yards (4.6 m) per roll); thread ends not removed; or not labeled in accordance with the Textile Fiber Products Identification Act. 0 Lenath examination. During the visual examination, each roll in the sample shall be examined for length. Any length found to be less than the minimum specified or mo

19、re than 2 yards less than the length marked on the roll ticket shall be considered a length defect. If two or more rolls in the sample are defective with respect to length or if the total of the actual length of rolls in the sample is less than the total of length marked on the roll tickets, the lot

20、 shall be rejected. Requlatory requirements. Specimens of 12 inch (30.5 cm) by 12 inch (30.5 cm) by 1 inch (2.5 cm) sections of fibrous glass insulation board, conforming to type I of MIL-1-742, shall be coated with fire resi

22、stant adhesive conforming to class 1 of MIL-A-3316, to an approximate thickness of 1/32 inch (0.8 mm). After the coating has dried for 5 minutes, 6 inch (15.2 cm) by 12 inch (30.5 cm) strips of the cotton brattice cloth shall be applied in such amanner that a strip of cloth covers one-half of the co

23、ated section. The cloth shall be pressed and troweled until the adhesive coating extrudes through the interstices and then shall be given a finish coating. The specimens sh 11 th n be allowed to dry for 48 hours at time, three 2 inch (5.1 cm) by 6 inch (15.2 cm) strips of the covering shall be cut a

24、nd removed from the surface of the fibrous glass insulation board. The plies of the strips thus obtained shall be stripped back 1 inch (2.5 cm) by hand and then pulled to rupture in a tensile testing machine, the jaws of which separate at the rate of 12 inches (30. 5 cm) per minute. The average resu

25、lts obtained from three strips of specimens shall be reported as the adhesive strength. approximately 80 8 F (27 8 C) room temperature. At the end of this PACKAGING Packaqinq.
