Abstract. The
2、first aid field case is intended for use by members of the Military Police of the U. S. Army and Air Force. The case is a leather pocket enclosure with snap fastener. It is worn on a belt. The case is designed to hold a Dressing, First Aid, Individual Troop, Camouflage (First Aid Packet). Classifica
3、tion. The field case is provided in one type and size. Salient Characteristics. The Case, First Aid Dressing shall be of two piece leather pocket construction capable of belt attachment, and an overlapping flap. In a fully extended, open configuration, the case shall measure 6 1/4 inches high, by 5
4、- +1/16 inches long. The flap shall have a snap closure. The main body of the pocket shall form the back, being contiguous with the flap. The sewn-on pocket portion shall be molded to the back portion, creating a cavity for intended contents. Stitching around body shall be 3/16 inch from edge. The m
5、ain body, back portion, shall be perforated with two slots, 1/8 inch each, centered three inches apart, and 2 inches high. 8、f body and flap edge shall be sealed with a colorless aqueous solution similar to gum tragacanth and smoothly burnished. All stitching shall be lock-stitch, type 301, 4-6 stitches per inch. Ma ter i a 1 s Leather: The leather shall conform to any type of mildew resistant treated cattlehide leather c
9、onforming to the provisions of KK-L-271. The leather shall be dyed black and finished smoothly on the grain side with a long- lasting lustrous finish. The finished grain side shall be used for all visible facings. The body portion contiguous to the flap shall be 6/64 inches thick, and the remaining
10、front portion, 4/64 inches thick. Thread: The thread shall be twisted soft or bonded multiple cord, normal elongation, 3 ply general purpose polyester with a minimum breaking strength of 24 pounds. The color shall be black and exhibit colorfastness to weathering in compliance with conventional comme
11、rcial practice. Ends of stitching shall be backstitched or over-stitched not less than 1 inch, except where ends are turned under, or caught in other seams and stitching. Fastener, snap: Snap fasteners shall be steel, with black finish consisting of size 2 button with socket for the female half, and
12、 size 2 eyelet with stud for the male half. The button/socket assembly shall be conventional, commercial spring clamp type. Sizes and lenaths. The finished case shall conform to the dimensions indicated in the above description, and Figure 1. Label/markinq. The epithet “U.S.“ and contractor logo, or
13、 trademark, shall be permanently and legibly indented on the back of the case, in accordance with instructions provided in Figure 1. Label/Taq. Each item shall be individually bar-coded with the type VIII, class 17 label/tag of DDD-L-20. This label/tag shall be located so that it is completely visib
14、le on each item and cau,ses no damage to the item. Workmanship. After completion, the finished case shall be in compliance with configuration, construction, components, and finish as stated in this description. The case shall be complete and capable of holding the First Aid Packet. Snap fasteners sh

16、used. The finished case shall be thoroughly cleaned with all loose thread, lint, and other debris removed. The case shall be free from irregularities or defects which adversely affect appearance, performance, reliability, or durability. Product Demonstration Model. When required, offerers shall subm
17、it samples of their intended production. The product demonstration model will consist of units independently developed. Product demonstration models will be analyzed and evaluated by the government. Evaluation criteria and basis for award are contained in the solicitation. Product demonstration mode
18、ls will be retained by the government. One (i) product demonstration model approved by DPSC under the resultant contract will serve as a manufacturing standard for the corresponding production items delivered under this contract. Offerers are advised that the product demonstration model does not rel
19、ieve the successful offerer of his responsibility to perform in accordance with the Commercial Item Description specified above. Requlatory Requirements. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials in accordance with Public Law 94-580 to the maximum extent practicable. Quality As
20、surance O Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description including Figure 1. The contractor may use his own drawings, specifications, standards and quality assurance practices to the extent they comply with this description.
21、 The government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to the first delivery, and thereafter, as may be otherwise provided for, under the provisions of the contract. Reliance on contractor quality assurance systems shall not relieve the contractor of the responsibility of ensu
22、ring that all products or supplies submitted to the government for acceptance comply with all requirements of the contract. Examination Visual Examination. The field cases shall be examined for the defects listed below. The lot size shall be expressed in units of field cases. The sample unit is one

Any component, assembly, finish or workmanship feature not in compliance with applicable requirements of this Commercial Item Description Leather: evidence of loose flesh, slaug
25、hter cuts, abrasions or scratches, holes, hip marks, grub damage, brand marks, wrinkles, flanky, spongy, pipey or stretchy leather, not dyed and finished on grain side; not black in color; improper or incomplete burnishing of matched edges.
