3、ervices Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description as a replacement for MIL-P-87938 for all federal agencies. 1. SCOPE. This commercial item description (CID) covers one type of methyl ethyl ketone peroxide compound to be used as a catalyst to harden polyester resin at
4、 room temperature. Typical applications include glass-reinforced plastic laminates and gel coats. 2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS 2.1 Composition. The compound shall be a clear, uniform liquid with no foreign materials. It shall be a well-balanced mixture of methyl ethyl ketone peroxide and a plasticizer
5、. The plasticizer shall be free of phthalate esters and shall be able to mix properly into the plastic formulation. It shall not cause the plastic formulation to become brittle. 2.2 Active oxygen content. The compound shall have an active oxygen content of not less than 8.7 and not more than 9.0 per
6、cent by weight when tested in accordance with the manufacturers standard analytical test method. 2.3 Resin system. The compound shall be compatible with polyester resin systems. Each resin manufacturers product data sheet shall be consulted for specific details on catalyst ratio, working time or pot

REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Material safety data sheet (MSDS). Manufacturers shall prepare and submit a MSDS in a
8、ccordance with FED-STD-313 and the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) requirements of 29 CFR 1910.1200. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Product conformance. The products provided shall meet the salient characteristics of this commercial item description; shall conform to the producers own drawing
9、s, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices; and shall be the same product offered for sale in the commercial market. The government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance. 5. PACKAGING 5.1 Preservation, packing, and marking. For acquisition purposes, the compound
