3、by all federal agencies.1. SCOPE. This commercial item description (CID) covers one type of glass-setting tape,composed of one of three compounds identified herein, used for sealing glass in metal channels.2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS2.1 Material Requirements:2.1.1 The material shall be a compound of
4、one of the following, as specified in the acquisitionorder (see 6.2(b):a. Uncured natural rubber and cotton fiberb. Synthetic rubber and cotton fiberc. Uncured natural and synthetic rubbers and cotton fiber2.1.2 The glass-setting tape shall consist of 70 3 percent uncured rubber and 30 3 percentfine
5、ly dispersed cotton fiber evenly distributed throughout.2.1.3 Physical property characteristics. The physical property characteristics shall comply withroom temperature requirements as well as those for after heat aging.2.1.3.1 Room temperature requirements. The room temperature requirements are:a.
6、Durometer hardness (Shore A) shall be 65 with a tolerance of five.b. The minimum tensile strength is 250 PSI.c. 7、rom original shall be 5 percent maximum. Thismay be determined by immersing a sample in distilled water at 23 1.1 C (73.4 2 F) for 48hours 1 hour.2.1.3.2 Requirements for after heat aging. After heat aging requirements are: (The aging periodshall be 48 1 hour at an oven temperature of 70 1 C (158 2
8、F).a. The durometer hardness (Shore A) shall be 65 with a tolerance of five.b. The maximum tensile strength shall be 400 PSI.c. The minimum elongation shall be 24 percent.2.2 Dimensions. The length of roll, and width and thickness of tape shall be as specified in theacquisition order (see 6.2(c). Th
9、e length shall be within one percent, the width within 1/16 of aninch, and the thickness shall be within 0.004 inches of the specified dimensions.2.3 Glass-Setting Tape. The glass-setting tape shall be furnished in rolls. Each roll shall beevenly and neatly wound around its own center without telesc
10、oping and shall be suitablyrestrained from unwinding. The tape shall unroll evenly and uniformly and shall not sticktogether so as to cause injury to the surface. Each roll shall be one continuous strip.2.3.1 Color. The color of the glass-setting tape shall be black.2.3.2 Texture. The texture of the
11、 glass-setting tape shall be uniform.2.3.3 Shelf life. The glass-setting tape shall meet the requirements of this specification whenstored in original containers at moderate temperature (not to exceed 37.8 C (100 F) for sixmonths.3. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS3.1 Recovered materials. The offeror/contrac
12、tor is encouraged to use recovered materials to themaximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal AcquisitionRegulation (FAR).4. PRODUCT CONFORMANCE PROVISIONS4.1 Product conformance. The products provided shall meet the salient characteristics of thiscommercial item
13、description, conform to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards,and quality assurance practices, and be the same product offered for sale in the commercialmarketplace. The government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance.5. PACKAGING5.1 Preservation, packing, and mark

Procurement documents shall specify the following:a. CID document number, revision, and CID PINc. Material compound (see 2.1.1)
16、b. Length, width and thickness of tape (see 2.2)d. Packaging requirements (see 5.1)6.3 Part or identification number (PIN). The part or identification numbering procedure isAA59505-1. It is for government purposes and does not constitute a requirement for thecontractor.6.4 Sources of documents.6.4.1
