SCOPE. This commercial item descriptio
2、n covers the requirements for ice screws which are used for protecting climbers on steep ice routes by turning the ice screws into the ice. 2. CLASSIFICATION. The ice screws will be furnished in the sizes as specified in Table I. 3. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS. The ice screw shall be chromium-molybdenum
3、 4130 alloy steel with a coarse thread. The hangar portion of the ice screw shall be of stainless steel material and shall have two circular holes sized to fit all types of carabiners in accordance with A-A-59836. The hangar portion shall have a foldable knob to facilitate rapid placement of the ice
4、 screw using continuous turns without stopping. The ice screw design shall provide ease of use with any typical combat gloves while meeting the standards described in the description. 3.1 Dimensions. The ice screw shall be constructed and comply with the requirements in Table I. The ice screw shall
5、be as light-weight as possible, while meeting the standards described in the description. TABLE I. Each size shall have a different colored folding knob on the hang
8、ar portion. 3.3 Tests The ice screw shall meet Union Internationale des Association dAlpinisme (UIAA) Standard 151. 3.4 Workmanship. The finished ice screw shall conform to the quality of product established by this document. The occurrence of defects shall not exceed the contractors own quality ass
9、urance standards and the quality assurance standards defined in the technical data in the solicitation and/or contract. 3.5 Service life. The ice screw shall have no unexpected material or component failures during a continuous one-year cycle. The ice screw shall have no unexpected material or compo
10、nent failures during periodic use over a five year period. 3.6 Labels/barcoding/instruction slip. If applicable, all labeling, barcoding and instruction slip requirements shall be as specified in the solicitation or contract (see 7.2). 4. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS. The offeror/contractor is encouraged
11、 to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). 5. PRODUCT CONFORMANCE PROVISIONS. 5.1 Product conformance. The products provided shall meet the salient characteristics of this commercial item description
12、, conform to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices, and be the same product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. The government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance. 5.2 Visual examination. Each ice screw shall be examine
