24、ordance with the applicable item requirements drawing. 3.2 Design, construction, and physical dimensions. The design, construction, physical dimensions and marking shall be as specified in the applicable item requirements drawing and herein. 3.3 Material. The material for each part shall be as speci
25、fied herein, or equivalent. Substitute material shall meet the performance requirements of this drawing. 3.3.1 Contact. The contact shall be phosphor bronze alloy in accordance with ASTM B139 and tested in accordance with ASTM B159 or CuZn30 H14 in accordance with ASTM B36/36M. 3.3.2 Insulator. The
26、insulator shall be on of the following types of plastic. All plastic material shall be rated V-0 in accordance with UL-94. a. Glass-or mineral-filled nylon in accordance with ASTM D4066. b. Glass filled thermoplastic in accordance with MIL-M-24519. c. Thermoplastic polyphenylene sulfide type GST-40F
27、 in accordance with MIL-M-24519, 3.4 Finish. 3.4.1 Contact plating. The contact shall be plated with gold in accordance with ASTM B488, type 3, code C, class 1.27 (50 microinches) over 50 microinches (1.27 m) of nickel in accordance with SAE AMS-QQ-N-290, class 2, or tin-lead in accordance with SAE
28、AMS-P-81728, 50 to 90 percent tin, 100 microinches minimum. Nonfunctional areas need not be plated, provided they do not cause degradation in performance. 3.4.2 Selective gold contact plating. Selective gold contact plating is for contact pin lengths .230 inch (5.84 mm) and longer. The gold plating
29、is measured from tip of contact pin to pin body the plating length unless otherwise specified in the detail drawing shall be .200 inch (5.08 mm). The contact shall be plated with gold in accordance with ASTM B488, type 3, code C, class 1.27 (50 microinches) over 50 microinches (1.27 m) of nickel in
30、accordance with SAE AMS-QQ-N-290. Nickel plating shall extend over the entire length of the pin. The recommended use of this finish is for mating with latch housings or printed wiring boards (PWB) housings where the mating depth does not exceed .200 inches (5.04 mm). 3.5 Design and construction. The
31、 connector shall be a multi-piece assembly having one or two rows of contacts with solder tail terminations for installation in .040 inch (1.02 mm) diameter holes in PWB of standard thickness. The connector contacts shall be insert molded or post-inserted in the insulator on rectangular grids of .10
32、0, .125, or .150 inch (2.54, 3.18, 3.81 mm, respectively) or multiples thereof and shall be available in straight or right angle configurations. The contacts shall be available in various above- and below-board lengths suitable for use as .025 inch (0.64 mm) square male disconnects or as similarly c
33、onfigured wrapposts for solderless wrapped connections. 3.5.1 Wrappost. The wrappost geometry shall be in accordance with figures 1 and 2. Both tips of the contact shall be beveled to facilitate insertion into the bit of the wire-wrap-wrap tooling or into the mating female contact. Contact posts sha
34、ll be square in position relative to the insulator wall. A maximum of a 10 degree deflection in either direction in acceptable. 3.5.2 Polarization (optional). Removal or omission of individual contacts shall provide polarization/keying to insure correct orientation of the header and an appropriately
35、 configured mating part. 3.5.3 Workmanship. Connectors shall be uniform in quality and shall be free from burrs, scratches, cracks, voids, chips, blisters, holes, sharp edges, or other defects that will adversely affect life or serviceability. The capacitance between adjacent or opposing contacts in an unmated and unterminated connector shall not exceed 2.0 picofarads when measured in acc
42、ordance with MIL-STD-202, method 305, at a frequency of 100 kilohertz. 3.6.2 Insulation resistance. The insulation resistance of the unmated and unterminated connector shall be not less than 5,000 megohms when measured in accordance with test procedure EIA-364-21. 3.6.3 Dielectric withstanding volta
43、ge. There shall be no evidence if arc-over, insulation breakdown, or excessive leakage current (less than 1 milliampere) when the unmated and unterminated connector is tested in accordance with test procedure EIA-364-20 (see table I). Individual contacts in an unterminated connector shall withstand a load of 5.0 pounds (2.27 kg)
45、in the case of insert molded connectors. In the case of post-inserted connectors, a 2.0 pound force (8.9 newton) minimum retention force shall be applied for plating finishes “A” and “B” and pretinned finishes “D” and “E”. If connector is hot tinned dipped without pretinning, the minimum retention s
46、hall be 0.5 pound (see item requirements drawing for plating materials). Testing of the contact shall be applied in either direction, along the contact axis, without dislodgement from the insulator. 3.7.2 Wrappost torque. A torque of 3.0 ounce-inch (21.18 mN m) applied to the tip of the terminated c
47、onnector contact shall not cause yielding of this member. The test shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-202, method 211, condition E. 3.8 Environmental conditions. 3.8.1 Thermal shock. After exposure of an unmated and unterminated connector to alternate periods of extreme high and low temperature (se
48、e temperature range table in applicable item drawing), there shall be no evidence of cracking or craving of the insulator or other physical damage to the connector. The test shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-202, method 107, test condition B. The dielectric withstanding voltage shall be not less t
49、han 750 volts rms, 60 Hz (see 3.6.3). 3.8.2 High temperature life. After exposure of an unmated and unterminated connector to a high temperature operating environment (see applicable item drawing for high temperature range), the insulation resistance of the connector shall be not less than 5,000 megohms (see 3.6.2). The test shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-202, method 108, test condition B. 3
