Dimensions and configuration Continued. SCOPE This is an extended environment-resisting hybrid construction (metal and nonmetallic inner

15、 shell components, nonmetallic coupling nut) backshell. Metallic components are finished with olive drab cadmium plate over a suitable underplate. Nonmetallic components are uncoated for corrosion resistance. REQUIREMENTS Backshells shall meet the requirements of MIL-C-85049, category 3C, class W wi

16、th the following exceptions and additions. Dimensions and configuration: See figure 1 for interface dimensions that shall confirm to MIL-DTL-38999, series III. Salt spray (corrosion): The backshells shall meet the dynamics salt spray requirements of MIL-C-85049, with the following exceptions and add

17、itions. The backshells shall be tested 2000 hours. Hydrolytic stability: The backshells shall be subjected to the following tests: a. Measure backshell weight. b. Boil in distilled water until no further weight gain is observed. c. Backshell may be dried with filtered compressed air. d. When backshe

18、ll weight has stabilized, measured percent total weight gain, mating dimensions and length. e. Backshells shall be tested in accordance with the thread strength of MIL-C-85049, category, 3C. f. Inspection the backshell for damage. The backshell shall be without defects detrimental to mechanical perf

19、ormance. Total weight gain shall be less than 0.75 percent. When subjected to coupling thread strength specified in MIL-C-85049, there shall be no evidence of cracking, breaking, or loosening of parts. Lighting strike: Backshells mated with matched construction connectors shall be subjected to a sim

20、ulated lighting current pulse exposure. The test pulse shall be a damped sinusoid with a basic frequency of 21 kHz and an amplitude decay time of 140 microseconds to 37 percent of its peak value. P

The receptacle connector shall be mounted on a simulated panel, using its normal mounting provisions. The simulated current pulse shall be applied between the plug accessory and the recepta

23、cle mounting panel. Upon completion of the pulse application, and without disturbing the test sample, the shell-to shell conductivity test of MIL-DTL-38999 shall be performed. When the electrical measurements have been completed, the sample shall be inspected in both the mated and unmated condition

24、for evidence of damage from the simulated lighting current pulse. Application guidance: To obtain full extended performance as specified above, this backshell must be assembled with the application hybrid connector, as specified on drawings 89090, 89093, and 89094. QUALIFICATION Qualification inspection: Qualification inspection for the backshells

26、specified herein shall not be required. Qualification conformance inspection: Shall be in accordance with MIL-C-85049, unless otherwise specified. Inspection of packaging: Shall be in accordance with MIL-C-85049, unless otherwise specified. Methods of inspection: Shall be in accordance with MIL-C-85
