REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Material. 3.1.1 Case. The case (container) s
9、hall be molded from cellulose ester, other than butyrates, plastic conforming to the physical requirements specified herein. The plastic shall be colored and translucent as indicated in 3.3. 3.1.2 Bead chain. The bead chain shall be in accordance with RR- C-271, type II, class 5, 1/8-inch bead chain
10、 diameter, fabricated of brass, and having a blackened finish. accordance with attachment Type IX of RR-C-271, fabricated of brass, and having a blackened finish. The attachment shall be of an appropriate size for the chain specified in 3.1.2. 3.1.3 Bead chain fasteners. The bead chain fasteners sha
11、ll be in 3.1.4 Rivets. The rivets shall be in accordance with FF-R-556, type XII, class 3, grade F, size 1/8-inch rivets and shall have a black oxidized finish. 3.1.5 Rivet burrs. The rivet burrs shall be fabricated of brass as required for the rivets and shall have a black oxidized finish. The rive

The plastic portions of the c
13、ases or test coupons (specimens) when tested as specified in 4.4.1, shall conform to the following physical requirements: Tensile strength (pounds per square inch) Elongat ion (percent) Impact strength (Izod - foot pounds per inch of notch) Water absorption (percent) Distortion under heat (temperatu

The case design shall be in accordance with Defense Personnel Support Center, (DPSC) Drawing 2153. Bead chain shall be fitted
15、 to the case and cap. Mold flash or sprues shall be removed from the finished case. Exposed surfaces of the finished case shall be smooth and shall exhibit as good an appearance as is consistent with the material molded. The cases shall approximate Fed. Std. 595A color 34259 or 34552. In addition, t
16、he cases shall be translucent so that the ear plugs to be contained therein are visible. 3.4 Workmanship. The finished case shall conform to the highest standards of commercial molding practice. The case shall be free from defects which detract from its appearance or may impair its serviceability, s
17、hall be free from.objectionable odor at the time of delivery, and shall not develop such odor during use and storage. The occurrence of defects shall not exceed the acceptance criteria established herein. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified i
18、n the contract or purchase order, the supplier is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract or order, the supplier may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requiremen
19、ts specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. for the contractoi; shall be m

Inspection, as used in this specification, is defined as both examination (such as visual, and auditory
22、, investigation without the use of special laboratory appliances or procedures) and testing (determination by technical means of physical and chemical properties) of the item. 4.1.3 Certificates of quality. Certificates of quality supplied by the manufacturer of the component or material may be furn
23、ished in lieu of actual performance of such testing by the contractor, provided lot identity has been maintained and can be demonstrated to the Government. The Certificate shall include the name of the contractor, the contract number, the name of the manufacturer or supplier, the NSN, the Item Ident
24、ification, the name of the component/material, the lot number, the lot size, the sample size, the date of testing, the test method, individual test results, and the specification requirements. 4.2 Samplinq. 4.2.1 Sample specimens (coupons) for determininq physical requirements of cases. Sample speci
25、mens (coupons) for determining compliance of cases with tests shall be prepared from sheets of material prepared from the same batch of plastic used in the manufacture of the cases under test. 4.2.2 For examination. Sampling for examination shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-105 and as indicated in
26、 Table I. The unit of product for examination purposes shall be one case. Table I. Where possible, the same sample unit shall be used for the determination of two or more test characteristics. 4.3 Examination. 4.3.1 Examination of ear pluq case. The cases shall be examined to deter
29、mine compliance with all requirements contained in this specification and drawing. specified in Tables I and 111. Examination, however, shall not be restricted to defects listed in Table III. Any cases in the lot containing one or more defects shall be rejected, if the number of defective cases exce
30、eds the acceptance number for that sample. Examination shall be conducted as 3 Table III. Classification of Defects Categories . Tests shall be conducted to determine compliance with 4.4.1 Tests for physical properties. The coupons (as specif

The insp
34、ection of the unit packaging, packing and marking for shipment and storage shall be in accordance with quality assurance provisions of the applicable container specification and the marking requirements of MIL-STD-129. 5. PACKAGING. 5.1 Preservation. Preservation shall be level A or C as specified 5
35、.1.1 Level A. (see 6.2). 5.1.1.1 Unit package. Twelve ear plug cases shall be clean and packaged in a snug fitting box conforming to PPP-B-566 or PPP-B-676. Closure shall be as specified in the applicable box specification. 5.1.2 Level C. The level C preservation for ear plug cases shall conform to
36、the MIL-STD-794 requirements for this level. 5.2 Packinq. Packing shall be level A, B or C as specified (see 6.2) . 5.2.1 Forty-eight unit packages (576 cases) shall be packed in an exterior container designed for a type 2 load and conforming to PPP-B- 636, class weather-resistant. Closure, strappin
37、g and waterproofing shall be as specified in the box specification. packed in a exterior container designed for a type 2 load and conforming to PPP-B-636, class domestic. Closure shall be as specified in the box specification. 5.2.2 Level B. Forty-eight unit packages (576 cases) shall be 5.2.3 Level

If the required number of units to be shipped is less than the number of units specified to be overpacked in ah-exterior container, such units shall be packed i
39、n an exterior container of suitable size and design, acceptable to a common carrier, which will insure safe delivery to destination. 5.2.5 Unitized loads. Unitized loads, commensurate with the level of packing specified in the contract or order, shall be used whenever total quantities for shipment t
40、o one destination equal 40 cubic feet or more. Loads shall be unitized on pallets. Quantities less than 40 cubic feet need not be unitized. Each unit pack, intermediate pack, exterior container and unitized load shall be marked as specified in MIL-STD-129. 5.4 General. 5.4.1 Exterior container. Exterior container (see 5.2.1, 5.2.2, and
43、 5.2.3) shall be of minimum tare and cube consistent with the protection required and shall contain equal quantities of identical stock numbered items to the greatest extent practicable-. 5.4.2 Packaqinq inspection. The inspection of these packaging requirements shall be in accordance with 4.5. 6. N
