16、 shall supersede applicable laws and regulations unless a specific exemption has been obtained. These 2.3 Order of precedence. 3. FEQUI- 3.1 First article. When specified, samples shall be submitted to the activity designated in the contract or purchase order for first article inspection to determin
17、e conformance to the requirements of this specification (see 4.3 and 6.2). 3.2 Camnents. The casters shall consist of the following components: a. Munting plate b. Horn assembly c. Wheel assembly d. Kingpin 3.3 Material. The material shall be as specified herein. However, when a definite material is
18、 not specified, a material shall be used which will enable the casters to meet the performance requirements of this specification. Acceptance or approval of any constituent material shall not be construed as a guaranty of the acceptance of the finished product. 3.3.1 Dissimilar metals. When dissimil
19、ar metals are used in inthte contact, suitable protection against galvanic corrosion shall be applied in accordance with MIL-SW889. defined in Mu;-STD-889. Materials used in the construction of the casters shall be suitably finished to provide corrosion protection against the performance requirements specified herein and in mrmal conditions of use, storage and exposure. The protective finish shall be stable and d
21、urable, shall not crack, chip, flake, powder or scale, and shall not interfere with the applicable performance requirements specified herein and in accordance with MIL-SIW808 . 3.3.3 Fkccle, virqin and reclaimed materials. There is no requirement that an item be manufactured from virgin materials. 3
22、.4 Desicin. The casters shall be plate munted, single wheeled, solid rubber tired, in accordance with Figure 1 or Figure 2. 3.5 Construction. The casters shall be so constructed that no parts will wrk loose in service. They shall be designed to withstand the strains, jars, vibrations, and other cond
23、itions incident to shipping, storage, installation, and service for which it is intended (see 6.1). 3.5.1 Mwntinq plate. and be a flat plate type. If an inspection lot is rejected, the contractor may rework it to correct thedefects, or screen out the defective units and resubit for re
27、inspection. Resubmitted lots shall be inspected ushg tightened inspection. Such lots shall be separate fra new lots, and shall be clearly . identified as reinspected lots, 4.4.3 Samplinq for Group A inspection. Sampling shall be in accordance with MUL-CTD-105 Inspection Level II with an Acceptable Q
28、uality Level (QL) of 1.5 percent defective far major defects. Sampling shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-105t Inspection Level S-2 with an AQL of 2.5 percent defective and may be made on sample units which have been subjected to and have passed Group A inspection, 4.4.
32、4.1 Disposition of samp le units. Sampling shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-105, Inspection Level S-2 with an AQL of 4.0 percent defective. Sample units which have been subj
34、ected to Group C inspection shall not be delivered on the contract. 4.4.5.1 4.5 Methods of inspection. 4.5.1 Examination. Sample casters shall be thoroughly examined to determine conformance with this specification with respect to all requirements not covered by tests. 4.5.2 Test fixture. The follow
35、ing test fixture shall be used for the brake (4.5.3) and static load (4.5.4) tests. A platform or circular or triangular design shall be used. The platform shall be capable of supporting a minimm of 2,500 pounds and have a means of securing three caster asselies utilizing all four mounting bolt hole

The following tests shall be conducted in
39、accordance with the specified procedures of MIL-STD-810. 4.5.4.1 Humidity. The caster shall be subjected to humidity in accordance with Method 507.2 procedure I, non-hazardous items, natural cycle 1, Table 504.2-11 of MIL-STD-810D. 4.5.4.2 Salt fos. The caster shall be subjected to salt fog in accor
40、dance with Method 509, procedure I for a period of 50 hours. substantial evidence of corrosion, bearing failure, orfailure of coatings or finishes. There shall be no 4.5.4.3 Sand and dust. The caster shall be subjected to sand and dust in accordance with Method 510.2, procedure I (blowing dust) of M
41、iL-STD-810D. A velocity of 1500 to 2000 fpm for steps 2 and 7 and a temperature of 63C (1451) for step 5 are considered acceptable for this procedure. At the conclusion of the test, there shall be no evidence of dust particles in the bearings of either the wheels or the swivel and no failure of coat

Caster, without the rubber tread, shall be subjected to the static load test. A static proof load equal to the rated load of 500 pounds shall be
43、applied through the tcp plate of the caster by means of weights or a press for a period of 15 minutes followed by a static ultimate load of 800 pounds for a period of 15 minutes. The caster assembly shall then be inspected to determine that no damage or permanent deformation has occurred. Any damage
44、 or permanent deformation in the caster assembly shall be cause for rejection, 4.5.6 Tread hardness test. The hardness of the tread as received shall be measured on the face of the tread by a Type A Shore durometer and shall be 75 -0 points when tested according to EED-STD-601, Method 3021. 4.5.7 Fi
45、rst article test report. When specified, the contractor shall prepare a report of the first article tests in accordance with MIL-STD-831 (see 6.3). 5. PACUGING 5.1 Preservation and packaqinq. Preservation and packaging shall be Level 5.1.1 Level A. A, C or industrial/coamiiercial packaging (see 6.2)
46、 . 5.1.1.1 Unit packaqinq. Casters shall be preserved in accordance with Method 1 of MIL-P-116. Ball or roller antifriction bearings shall be adequately lubricated with a preservative grease conforming to MIL-G-10924. Each caster shall be wrapped in Grade A greaseproof barrier material conforming to
47、 MIL-B-121. and further overwrapped with kraft paper, 60 pound (24 by 36) to prevent abrasion. Unit quantities shall be as specified by the procuring activity . 5*1.2 Level C. Casters shall be preserved and packaged in accordance with the MIL-STD-794. 5.1.3 Indusfxial/commercial. Casters shall be pr
48、eserved and packaged in accordance with ASTM-D-3951. 5.2 Packinq. Packing shall be Level A, B, C or industrial/comniercial as specified (see 6.2). packaged in exterior shipping containers conforming to PPP-B-576, Style B, Class 2, PPP-B-585, Style 3, PPP-B-601, Overseas Type, or PPP-B-621, Class 2.
