2、COPE 1.1 Scope. This specification covers floor mounted, elec- tric motor driven, numerically controlled, automatic, turret type, drilling, boring and tapping machines having a sliding head, vertical indexing turret assembly, and a fixed height type work bed, with equipment and accessories as descri

The numerically controlled drilling ma- chines covered by this specification are of the following sizes. a 2-axis or 3-axis machine control unit (MCU) as specified (see 6.2.1). The modes of operating the equipment shall be by manual jog, semi-automatic and full tape control. Manual controls shall be furnished to provide operator dial-in control of X, Y, and Z axes, for

21、 data not punched in the tape and for programming without tape. 3.2.2 Safety devices. The machine and its control unit shall have saety devices for the protection of the operator and the equipment. Covers, guards or other safety devices shall protect the operator from moving parts and electrical equ

22、ip- ment that may cause injury, but shall not interfere with proper operation of the machine. Safety devices such as limit trips, positive stops and warning signals shall protect the equipment against overload, overtravel or malfunction of a component. Exceptions and additional requirements for safety and health shall be as specified (see 6.2.1). 3.2.3 Lubrication. Means shall be provided to insure ade- quate lubrication for all moving parts. All

25、filters, if used, shall be cleanable or replaceable. Each lubricant reservoir shall have means for determining fluid level. All oil holes, grease fittings and filler caps shall be accessi- ble. 3.2.4 Interchangeability. To provide for replacement of worn parts, all parts bearing the same part number

26、 shall be functionally interchangeable, and shall be dimensionally identical within the manufacturing tolerance limits in use by their manufacturer. 3.3 Construction. The machine shall be so constructed that when installed and connected to power, it will be ready for operation. The machine shall be

27、constructed of parts which are without defects and free of repair. The structure shall be capable of withstanding all forces encountered during operation of the machine to its maximum rating and capacity without permanent distortion. 3.3.1 Castings and forgings. All castings and forgings shall be fr

28、ee of defects, scale and mismatching. Welding, peening, plugging, or filling with solder or paste shall-not be used for reclaiming any defective part. 3.3.2 Welding, brazing or soldering. Welding, brazing, or soldering shall b e employed only where specified in the original design. None of these ope

29、rations shall be employed as a repair measure for any defective part. 3.3.3 Fastening devices. All screws, pins, bolts, and similar parts shall be installed in such a manner as to pre- vent change of tightness. Those subject to removal or ad- justment shall not be swaged, peened, staked, or otherwis

30、e, permanently deformed. 3.3.4 Surfaces. All gears used in the machine and its compo

35、- nents shallbe machined in the inch system and shall conform to the applicable requirements of AGMA 360. 3.4 Components. Components of the basic machine shall con- sist primarily of a base, column, sliding head, turret assembly, work table, driving mechanisms, operating controls, and numerically co

36、ntrolled MCU. * 3.4.1 Base. The base shall be ribbed and braced to minimize distortionand deflection. The base shall form a foundation for the entire machine and shall provide a positive means for securing the column to the base. When a hydraulic or coolant system is incorporated in the design, thei

37、r reservoirs may be integral with the base or may be furnished as separate external units. 38、 or servicing. A leadscrew arid brake, complete with protective shields, and motor to con- trol saddle motion shall be provided. Guideways with full bearing surface shall be provided to accept a sliding saddle. Saddle guideways shall have a surface hardness not less than Rockwell C-50. Means for lev

39、eling shall be provided around the periphery of the base. * 3.4.2 Column. The column shall be of box-like construction, ribbed ZZlFaced to minimize distortion and deflection under normal tool loads. The column shall accommodate a sliding head with turret assembly, speed and feed components and drivi

40、ng mechanisms. Guideways shall be provided for vertical travel of the sliding head. The column shall incorporate in its design a power operated leadscrew for vertical adjust- ment of the sliding head, and after positioning the head shall I remain in any position to which it is adjusted within its fu

41、ll I length of travel. A graduated scale or other visible means shall provide an indication of height setting. I I I I * 3.4.3 Saddle. The saddle shall be designed and proportioned to withstandall loads which may be imposed during normal operation of the machine, The saddle shall be mounted on the g

42、uideways of the base. The saddle shall be provided with protective shields for leadscrews. Automatic means shall be provided to prevent saddle movement after positioning. Saddle traverse shall be by power. All saddle functions shall be controlled by the MCU and by manual means. Guideways having a su

43、rface hardness not less than Rockwell C-50 shall be pro- vided at the saddle top to accept a worktable. 3.4.4 Worktable. The worktable shall be designed and pro- portioned to withstand any loads that may be encountered during normal operations. The worktable shall be mounted on the guideways of the

44、saddle with full bearing surface. A coolant trough integral with the table shall be provided, with means for draining into the coolant reservoir.
