REQUIREMEN
18、TS 3.1 First article. When specified (see 6.2), a sample shall be subjected to first article inspection (see 6.3) in accordance with 4.3. 3.2 Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable material. Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable materials are used to the maximum extent possi
19、ble provided that the material meets or exceeds the operational and maintenance requirements, and promotes economically advantageous life cycle costs. 3.2.1 Basic material. The basic material for the outer shell (crown, earlap, forehead flap, and binding) will be cotton warp and nylon filling oxford
20、 cloth, conforming to class 3 of MIL-C-3924. The cloth for the sweatband will be either class 3 or class 2 dyed Camouflage Green 483 material of MIL-C-3924. Printing seconds will be cloth which has been rejected only for defects cited in MIL-C-3924 pertaining to shade, infrared reflectance, or pattern o
22、f camouflage print. Dyed seconds shall be cloth which has been rejected only for defects cited in MIL-C-3924 pertaining to shade, and the shade will approximate Camouflage Green 483. 3.2.2 Lining for crown. The material for lining the crown will be cloth satin lining conforming to A-A-52074, and the
23、 shade shall approximate Green 483. 3.2.3 Lining for earlap and forehead flap. The material for lining the earlap and forehead flap will be knitted nylon fleece cloth conforming to Type I of A-A-55234 except that the color shall be Camouflage Green 483. There will be a minimum of 24 wales per inch,
24、and the minimum colorfastness to laundering (after 3 cycles) shall be “fair.” 3.2.4 Gusset material. The material for the gusset will be nylon knitted stretch type cloth, Camouflage Green 483, conforming to class 2 of MIL-C-43247. 3.2.5 Back adjustment strap. The strap for outside back of earlap wil
25、l be cotton elastic webbing, 1 inch wide, Camouflage Green 483, conforming to Type I, class 7 of JJ-W-155. 3.2.6 Earlap fasteners. The material for the adjustable closure system will be nylon fastener tape, 1-1/2 inch wide loop tape and 1-1/2 inch hook tape, conforming to Type II, class 1 of A-A-551
26、26. The color will be Camouflage Green 483. 3.3. Thread, polyester core. The thread for stitching will be cotton- covered or polyester- covered polyester thread conforming to A-A-50199. The thread size will be Ticket Nos. 50-2 and 70-2. The thread will be dyed S-1, C.A. 66022 and water repellent tre
27、ated in accordance with Type II, classes 2 and 3 respectively of MIL-T-3530. Lubrication of the quarpel treated thread by any means in the end item fabricators plant prior to or during sewing is prohibited. 3.3.1 Gimp. The gimp for reinforcing the buttonholes shall conform to Type I or II, size No.
28、8, conforming to A-A-50198. The gimp shall be dyed S-1, C.A. 66022. 3.4 Labels. Each cap will have a combination identification-size label and an instruction label conforming to MIL-DTL-32075. Label color will be Medium Green Cable No. 70034, 70130, or 70131 and will show fastness to laundering in a
29、ccordance with MIL-DTL-32075 requirements. 3.4.1 Identification-size label. The identification-size label will conform to Type VI, class 4. 3.4.2 Instruction label. The instruction label will conform to Type VI, class 3, and will contain the following information: CAP, COLD WEATHER, INSULATING, HELM
30、ET LINER 1. Wear straight on head with forehead flap up or down. 2. Fasten earlaps under or over chin, at back of neck, or over head. 3. When worn under helmet with earlaps over helmet, thread helmet chin strap through buttonholes. 4. Launder by the Wool Method, Formula II, FM 10-16 except dry tumbl
31、e heat shall not exceed 130F; or hand wash in lukewarm water. Each item will be individually bar coded with a paper tag for personal clothing it
32、ems. The paper tag will be standard bleached sulfate having a basis weight of 100 pounds. The paper used for the tags will have a smooth finish to accept thermal transfer and direct printing. The tags will have a hole and will be attached to each item by a fastener, clearly legible and readable by s
33、canner. The bar coding element will be a 13 digit national stock number (NSN). There will be a 12 digit unit price control number (UPC) assigned for NSNs by the procuring agency. The initial letters UPC must appear beneath the code. The bar code NSN and UPC type will be a medium to high code density
34、 and will be located so that it is completely visible on the item when it is folded an/or packaged as specified and so that it causes no damage to the item. The UPC code must also be placed on all shipping cartons on which the NSN appears. 3.5 Design. The cap is a fully lined cold weather head cover
35、ing having a turndown Forehead flap (sinus protector), three-piece crown, a stretch gusset with an elastic strap at center back and earlaps with nylon fastener hook and pile tape overlap closure (see Figure 1). 3.6 Patterns. Standard patterns, which provide a 3/16 inch seam allowance for joining for
36、ehead flap to flap lining and 3/8 inch for all other seams, will be furnished by the Government. The Government patterns, which show directional lines and markings for proper assembly, will not be altered in any way and are to be used as a guide for cutting contractors working patterns. The working
37、patterns will be identical to the Government patterns except that additional notching to facilitate manufacture is permissible. Also, minor modifications are permitted where necessary when using automatic equipment. These modifications shall not alter the dimensional, serviceability, or appearance r
38、equirements. 3.6.1 Pattern parts. The pattern parts and applicable material for cutting the cap parts will be as specified in Table I. 41、Table II and herein. Figure 1 is furnished solely for guidance and information. Should variation from the document appear in Figure 1, the document will govern. 3.7 Stitches, seams, and stitching. All stitches, seams, and stitching will conform to ASTM-D-6193. The type of seam, stitching, and stitch
42、es per inch will be as specified in Table II. Seam allowances shall be maintained with seams sewn, so that no raw edges, run-offs, pleats, puckers, or open seams occur. When two or more methods of seams or stitches are given for the same operation, any one may be used. Where stitch type 401 is used,
43、 the chain or underside of the stitch shall be on the inside of the cap. 3.8.1 Type 301 stitching. Ends of all stitching will be backstitched or overstitched not less than 1/4 inch, except where ends are turned under or caught in other seams or stitching. Ends of a continuous line of stitching shall
44、 overlap not less than 1/2 inch. Thread tension shall be maintained so that there will be no loose stitching resulting in loose bobbin or top thread or excessively tight stitching resulting in puckering of the materials sewn. The lock will be embedded in the materials sewn. 3.8.2 Repairs of type 301
45、 stitching. Repairs of type 301 stitching will be as follows: a. When thread breaks, skipped stitches, run-offs, or bobbin runouts occur during sewing, except prestitching, the stitching will be repaired by restarting the stitching a minimum of 1/2 inch back of the end of the stitching. Except for prestitching, thread breaks, or two or more consecutive skipped or run-off stitches noted during inspection of the item will be repaired by overstitching. The stitching will start a mi
47、nimum of 1/2 inch in back of the defective area, continue over the defective area, and continue a minimum of 1/2 inch beyond the defective area onto the existing stitching. Loose or excessively tight stitching will be repaired by removing the defective stitching without damaging the materials, and r
48、estitching in the required manner. 1/ 1/ When making the above repairs, the ends of the stitching are not required to be backstitched. 3.8.3 Type 401, 504, and 505 stitching. Thread tension will be maintained so that there will be no loose or excessively tight stitching. All repairs shall be in accordance with 3.8.2. a and b. Type 301 stitching may be used to repair Type 401 stitching. 3.8.4 Buttonhole. The buttonholes will be eyelet end, taper bar type, worked over gimp (see 3.3.1) with not less than four tacking stitches at bar end (not coun
