REQUIREMENTS*3.1 First article. When specified (see 6.2), a sample shall be subjected to first articleinspection (see 4.2 and 6.2)
19、.3.2 Materials and components. Materials and components shall be as specified herein andon the applicable drawings. Materials and components not definitely specified shall be of thequality normally used by the manufacturer provided the completed item complies with all theprovisions of this document.
20、3.2.1 Aluminum alloys.*3.2.1.1 Casting. Webbing shall conform to type IIb, class 4, camouflage green 483 size 1inch of MIL-W-530 or MIL-W-44049.3.2.5 Primer. Primer shall conform to composition G or L
25、, as applicable, color Y ofTT-P-1757.3.2.6 Enamel. Enamel shall conform to either class A or B, composition G or L, asapplicable Olive Drab color No. 20487 of TT-E-529.3.2.7 Clip ends. The end clip shall conform to type I, class1, size 1 inch of MIL-C-496.3.2.8 Thread, polyester. Polyester thread sh
26、all conform to type I, class 1, subclass B,camouflage green 483, thread size F of V-T-285.3.3 Alternate components. Components offered as equivalent to components specified inthis document and on the referenced drawings as a specific manufacturers part number or equalshall be functionally equal to t
27、he manufacturers part number identified as of equal or betterquality. The incorporation and inclusion of such a component in the design of the specified endproduct shall not require modification or change to any other specified component and shall notreduce ease of maintenance to it or any other com
28、ponents, unless such modification or change isspecifically approved by the contracting officer. Prior to manufacture of the first article, or ifnone is required, prior o commencing production, the contractor shall submit for the contractingofficers approval, a list identifying each proposed alternat

The contracting officer, at hisoption, may require a physical sample of the propose
30、d substitution. Approval of the submittedlisting, together with necessary supporting data, authorizes the commencement of first article orproduction manufacture, as applicable, and does not relieve the contractor of the responsibilitythat these components perform in accordance with specified require
31、ments when incorporated intothe end product.3.4 Design. The frame sections shall be designed to provide a 16 foot wide by 8 foot 6inch high tent frame. The frame shall be expandable in length by increasing the number ofexpandable sections. The end section shall provide for the first 8 foot length of
32、 frame. Eachexpandable section shall provide for an additional 8 foot length of frame.3.5 Construction. Construction of the frame sections shall conform to Drawings5-4-975, 5-4-976, 5-4-977, 5-4-2302 and as specified herein. The frame sections shall be capableof being erected and the stud (item 7-6)
33、 shall be capable of being turned within the pad (item 7-5)by hand operation without having to use a tool for force. Where rivets are used as hinge pins(items 7-10 and 7-11), the set of the rivets shall be such as to allow for ease of rotation. Thediagonal brace (item 7-4) and shackle brace (item 7-
34、7) shall be capable of being rotated by handoperation. Heating of the hinge pin (item 8) is allowed to facilitate upsetting the ends of the hingepin securely into the countersink of (item 3-6) and (item 3-7) so as to prevent hinge pins frombecoming loose and disengaged.3.5.1 Welding. All welding sha
35、ll be sound, smooth and uniform.3.5.2 Riveting. All rivets shall be securely set.*3.5.3 Castings. Castings shall be clean and free from pits, blowholes flashing and scale.*3.5.4 Stitching. Stitch type shall be 301, 5-7 stitches per inch in accordance withASTM-D-6193.3.6 Finish. Interior surfaces of
36、rectangular tubes, where slotted or diagonally cut at end,and shank of through rivets need not be primed or enameled.3.6.1 Cleaning and treatment. Prior to assembly, all completely fabricated metalcomponents of the frame sections shall be thoroughly cleaned and exterior surfaces of aluminumalloy sha
37、ll be prepared for painting in accordance with class 1A treatment of MIL-C-5541.3.6.2 Priming. After cleaning and treatment, as applicable, and prior to assembly, exteriorsurfaces of metal components including chains, rings, screws, plus both sides of steel eave andridge-gusset plates and header end
38、 plates shall be completely coated with primer specified in 3.2.6except the shank of the quick release pin shall be free of primer.3.6.3 Enameling. After the primer has been allowed to dry, the exterior surfaces of theassembled frame section components shall be completely coated with enamel specifie
39、d in 3.2.7except the shank of the quick release pin shall be free of enamel. The finished coating shall not bewet or tacky and shall be continuous and uniform, i.e., free of sag, run, pinhole, blister, wrinkle,area of thin or no film, scratch or scuff, and foreign matter imbedded in finish. The cont
40、ractorshall touch up areas of finish damaged during flexing of movable joints.*3.6.4 Epoxy powder coating. As an alternate to pretreatment and lacquering orenameling specified in 3.6.1 and 3.6.2 the surface of the frame shall be prepared and coated asfollows:Provided by IHSNot for ResaleNo reproduct
41、ion or networking permitted without license from IHS-,-,-MIL-DTL-43695C6a. The surfaces shall be thoroughly cleaned and textured by blasting and/ortumbling using 30-60 grit steel shot. Prepared surfaces shall be kept clean and shall be epoxycoated within 8 hours after cleaning and texturizing.b. The
42、 frames shall be finished with an electrodeposited epoxy powder coating.The epoxy coating shall conform to epoxy coatings produced by H. B. Fuller Co., or the OBriencorporation, or equal (see 6.6 and 6.8).c. The electrodeposited epoxy powder coating shall be baked on in accordancewith commercial pra
43、ctices. The thickness of the coating shall be .003 + .001 inch.d. The final coating shall be smooth and uniform in appearance and shall be freefrom corrosion, blistering, peels, cracks or sags.3.7 Marking for identification. The lower segment of each side arch assembly having thebinding strap shall
44、be permanently and distinctly stamped or marked for identification. The letters“U.S.“ shall be in characters a minimum of one inch in height. The name of the manufacturer orbrand or mark of such known character as to make the source of manufacture determinable andthe number and year of contract shal
45、l be in characters a minimum of one-half inch in height. 3.8 Workmanship. All components of the finished frame sections shall not be bent out ofshape and shall be free from split, puncture, fracture, twist, malformation, sharp edge and burr.Roll of a rivet shall be free from more than one split. Wel
46、ds shall also be free from burn throughareas, pits, slag inclusion, porosity, crack, flash and excess flux deposit. Rivets shall be free fromlooseness.*3.9 Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable materials. Recycled, recovered,or environmentally preferable materials should be used to the
47、maximum extent possible providedthat the material meets or exceeds the operational and maintenance requirements, and promoteseconomically advantageous life cycle costs.4. VERIFICATION4.1 Responsibility for dimensional requirements. Unless otherwise specified in thecontract or purchase order, the con
48、tractor is responsible for ensuring that all dimensions specifiedin the component specifications have been met. When dimensions cannot be examined on the enditem, inspection shall be made at any point, or at all points in the manufacturing process necessaryto ensure compliance with all dimensional r
49、equirements.4.1 Classification of inspections. The inspection requirements specified herein areclassified as follows:a. First article inspection (see 4.2).b. Conformance inspection (see 4.3).4.2 First article inspection. When a first article is required (see 6.2) it shall be examinedfor the defects listed in 4.4.3 and 4.4.4 and tested as specified
