The requirements for the first article will be as specified by the procuring activity (see 6.2). The first article shall be examined for compliance with visual a
17、nd dimensional requirements of this specification. 3.2 Materials. 3.2.1 Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable material. Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable materials are used to the maximum extent possible provided that the material meets or exceeds the operational and ma
18、intenance requirements, and promotes economically advantageous life cycle costs. 3.2.2 Outershell. The fabric for the outershell will be cloth, nylon twill conforming toType I, Class A, of MIL-C-4294. The color will be USAF, Sage Green No. 1511. The fabric for the innershell (lining) will be cloth, satin acetate or rayon face and rayon or cotton back (Type I or II) per A-A-52074. The color will be USAF Sage Green No. 1529 or the color will approximate that o
20、f the outershell. 3.2.4 Mouton. The color will be USAF, Sage Green No. 1523. The synthetic fur moutonMIL-C-6590, Type I, except that the ground fabric may be constructed of either cotton or polyester yarn and the backing compound may be Butadiene Styrene. As an alternate, the color color of the natu
21、ral mouton may approximate the color of the synthetic mouton. 3.2.5 Webbing. The webbing for the chin strap will be cotton, 3/4 inch wide, conforming to MIL-W-530, Type IIa, Class 3. The color will match the outershell fabric. 3.2.6 Fasteners, snap. The snap fastener used for chin strap closure will
22、 consist of a button, socket, stud, and eyelet as referenced on AF Drawing 51D24313. 3.2.7 Reinforcements. Reinforcements for the snaps will be 1-1/2 X 1-1/2 inch wide webbing, conforming to MIL-W-530, Type IIa, Class I, or scrap pieces from the innerlining. 3 2.8 Threads. 3.2.8.1 Thread, cotton. Th
23、e cotton thread used for hand stitching will conform to A-A-50294 3 ply. The color will approximate USAF Sage Green No. 1529 or the color of the outershell material (Sage Green no. 1511). 3.2.8.2 Thread, nylon. The nylon thread will conform to V-T-295, Type I or II, Class 1, size B. The color will b
24、e USAF, Sage Green No. 1511. 3.2.8.3 The dyed threads will show fastness to laundering and light equal to or better than the standard sample. When no standard sample is available, the dyed thread will show “good“ fastness to laundering and light. 3.2.9 Label. The helmet will contain a combination id
25、entification-size label conforming to the requirements of MIL-DTL-32075, Type VI, class 4 for dry cleaned items. The label will include the information required by the Wool Labeling Act of 1939. The label will be imprinted DRY CLEAN ONLY. 3.2.9.1 Label/tag. Each item will be individually bar coded w
26、ith a paper tag for personal clothing items. The paper tag will be standard bleached sulfate having a basis weight of 100 pounds. The paper used for the tags will have a smooth finish to accept thermal transfer and direct printing. The tags will have a hole and shall be attached to each item by a fa
27、stener, clearly legible and readable by scanner. The bar coding element will be a 13 digit national stock number (NSN). The bar code NSN and UPC type will be a medium to high code density and will be located so that it is completely visible on the item when it is folded an/or packaged as specified and so that it causes no da
29、mage to the item. 3.3 Patterns. Standard patterns, which provide 1/4 inch seam allowance will be furnished by the Government and will not be altered in any way. They will be used only as a guide for cutting the suppliers working patterns which will be identical to the standard patterns. 3.3.1 List o

Any method of marking may be used except: a. Corrosive metal fastening devices b. Sew-on type tickets c. A
33、dhesive type tickets which discolor or adhere to the material upon removal of the tickets. 3.3.3 All parts will be marked, ticketed or bundled to insure uniform shade throughout the helmet. When the bundle system is used, plies from each bolt of fabric will be separated (in the spreading) by tissue
34、paper or other identifying medla and the parts, after cutting will be so segregated that each bundle will contain only parts cut from the same piece of material. The bundles must be identified so that all the components for each end item will be from the same piece of material. 3.4 Design. The helme
35、t is a fully lined cold weather head covering, having a four-piece crown, mouton forehead, earflaps with a webbing chin strap that closes with snap fasteners (see Figure 1). To the extent of any inconsistencies between the written specification and Figure 1, the written specification will govern. 3.5 Stitches, seams and stitching. All stitches, seam and stitching types specified in Table II will conform to AST
37、M-D6193. When two or more methods of seams or stitches are given for the same operation, anyone may be used. 3.5.1 Stitches per inch.
