SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This document covers

13、e event of a conflict between the text of this specification and the references cited herein, the text of this specification shall take precedence. shall supersede applicable laws and regulations unless a specific exemption has been obtained. Nothing in this specification, however, 3. REQUIREMENTS 3
14、.1 First article. When specified in the contract or purchase order, a sample shall be subjected to first article inspection (see 4.3, 6.2, and 6.3). 3.2 Components. The maintenance kit shall consist of the following components : a. Patches (twenty-four ) b. Tube of adhesive c. Abrasive strip d. Pape
15、r towels (four) e. Instruction card 3.2.1 Patches. Each patch shall be made from butyl coated cloth conforming to MIL-C-12189. diameter and shall be precoated with the adhesive specified in 3.2.2.1 to a dry film thickness of 2-1/2 to 5 mils. The adhesive coated side of the patch shall be covered wit
16、h a release paper. The release paper shall have a central butt slit across the entire width of the release paper which may be produced after application of the release paper or may be pre-slit. There shall be no visible evidence that slitting knives have cut through the adhesive layer to the coated
17、fabric. The release paper shall be of sufficient stiffness and release qualities as to cause complete separation of the paper from the patch at the slit area and to be free of visible adhesive residue, when tested as specified in 4.4.4. The patches shall measure 1-1/2 inches Z 1/16 inch in 3.2.2 Tub
18、e of adhesive. At least 25 milliliters of the adhesive specified in 3.2.2.1 shall be supplied in a collapsible tube conforming to type I, class 2, style 2 of PPP-T-1637, 7/8 inch tube size, approximately 4-3/4 inches tube length, Nos. 12 or 16 diameter orifice code, with cap and liner. The tube shal
19、l be securely closed with an imprinted crimp, or a double fold with closure sealant suitable for the contents. The tube shall be permanently and legibly labeled “Adhesive“ and “Caution! Do not breathe vapors, avoid skin contact and use only in well-ventilated areasf1 with letters 118 inch minimum he
20、ight. 3.2.2.1 Adhesive. The adhesive shall be of the composition listed below suitably milled, churned, and thinned to a Brookfield viscosity of approximately 400 centipoises (see 6.4). 48 hours before testing and shall be made up one month or less in advance of the assembly of the maintenance kits.

The strip of abrasive shall be 360 mesh silicon carbide bonded to both sides of a 24 mesh backing in a waterproof grade (see 6
23、.5). The strip shall measure 2-3/11 5 1/16 by 1-1/2 inches 2 1/16 inch. 3.2.4 Paper towels. The paper towels shall conform to the requirements of type I, any size of UU-T-595. The towels (four in each kit) shall be folded as required to fit neatly into the container. * 3.2.5 Instruction,card. The in
24、structions shall be clearly printed on one side of envelope grade paper 0.009 inch thick using elite type 12 pitch. The card shall measure 2-7/8 2 1/4 by 4-3/4 inches 2 1/11 inch. After printing, the margin on all sides shall be approximately 1/4 inch and the card shall be coated on both sides with
25、clear plastic, meeting the requirements of MIL-C-17504. The arrangement and text of instructions shall be as follows: CAUTION: USE ADHESIVE ONLY IN WELL-VENTILATED AREA AND AVOID SKIN CONTACT 1, Clean and dry damaged area with paper towel. 2. Buff area lightly but thoroughly with abrasive strip. 3.
26、Wipe off loose dust with paper towel. 4. Apply moderate coat of adhesive directly to buffed area and spread evenly. 5. Let adhesive dry 5 minutes (10 minutes at freezing). 6. Remove backing from patch. Press firmly in place with newly uncovered side toward buffed area. 7. Apply two patches - one on
27、each side of damaged area. 8. In case of accidental skin contact, wash with soapy water. 28、ed without license from IHS-,-,-e 3.3 Performance of patch. MIL-M-4 1837D 3.3.1 Resistance to creep. The average creep of each of the two sets of specimens prepared and tested as specified in 4.4.4 shall not be greater than 1/2 inch. 3.3.2 Flexibility of applied patch at low temperature. The bonded
29、patch shall not crack, lift, or separate when tested as specified in 4.4.4. 3.4 Workmanship. The maintenance kits shall conform to the quality of product established by this document and the occurrence of defects shall not exceed the applicable acceptable quality levels. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISI
30、ONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor may use his own o
31、r any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in this document where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and
32、 services conform to prescribed requirements. * 4.1.1 Responsibility for compliance. All items must meet all requirements of sections 3 and 5. The inspection set forth in this document shall become a part of the contractors overall inspection system or quality program, The absence of any inspection
33、requirement in the document shall not relieve the contractor of the responsibility of assuring that all products or supplies submitted to the Government for acceptance comply with all requirements of the contract. Sampling in quality conformance does not authorize submission of known defective mater
34、ial, either indicated or actual, nor does it commit the Government to acceptance of defective material, 4.1.2 Certificates of compliance. When certificates of compliance are submitted, the Government reserves the right to inspect such items to determine the validity of the certification. 4.2 Classif
35、ication of inspections. The inspection requirements specified herein are classifi.ed as follows: a. First article inspection (see 4.3). b. Quality conformance inspection (see 4.4). 4.3 First article inspection. When a first article is required (see 6.21, it shall be examined for the defects specifie
36、d in 4.4.2 and 4.4.3 and tested for the characteristics specified in 4.4.4. failure to pass any test shall be cause for rejection of the first article. Unless otherwise specified, sampling for inspection shall be performed in accordance with MIL-STD-105. 4.4.1 Components and materials inspection, In accordance with 4.1, components and materials shall be inspected in accordance with all the requirements of refere
38、nced documents unless otherwise excluded , amended , modified , or qualified in this document or applicable purchase document. The characteristics listed in table I will be accepted on a certificate of compliance as indicated. 4.4.1.1 Certification. Components listed below shall be accepted on the b
39、asis of a contractors certificate of compliance with the indicated requirements. The end item shall be examined for conformance to the specified dimensions for size of patch (see 3.2.11, adhesive tube (see 3.2.21, adhesive strip (see 3.2.31, paper towel (see 3.2.41, and instruction card (see 3.2.5). specified dimension shall be classified as a defect. The inspection level
45、 shall be S-3 and the AQL, expressed in terms of defects per hundred units, shall be 6.5. Any measurement deviating from the 4.4.4 End item testing. The end item containing all components shall be tested for the characteristics listed in table I. The lot size shall be expressed in units of kits. The
46、 sample unit shall be two complete kits. The sample size shall be five and shall include 1-1/2 yards of butyl coated cloth specified in 3.2.1.
