2、ssed Standardization Document Improvement FSC 3990 MILITARY SPECIFICATION SUPPORT SETS, STACKING, MATERIAL HANDLING PALLET This specification is approved for use by all Departments and Agencies of the Department of Defense. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This specification covers 8000-pound capacity knockdown

3、support sets for stacking flush type, two-way entry or wing type, four-way entry -1 materials handling pallets. -.- 1.2 Classification. The support sets shall be of the following sizes, as specified (see 6.2): Size 1 - 38 inches long by 49-1/16 inches wide, (40 by 48 pallet). Size L - 46 inches long

4、 by 61-1/16 inches wide, (48 by 60 pallet). Size 3 - 30 inches long by 41-1/16 inches wide, (32 by 40 pallet). 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS 2.1 Government documents. 2.1.1 Specifications and standards. 14、der of precedence. In the event of a conflict between the text of this specification and the references cited herein, the text of this specification shall take precedence. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Description. The pallet support sets (hereinafter called “support sets“) shall be in accordance with the app

15、licable drawings, and as specified herein. The support sets, assembled to simulate a single warehouse stack, shall support a 10,000 pound proof load and a side force of 200 pounds without any evidence of permanent deformation exceeding 1/16 inch, damage, or failure (see 4.5.2.1). 3.1.1 Drawings. The

16、 drawings forming a part of this specification are end product drawings. No deviation from the prescribed dimensions or toleraaces is permissible without prior approval of the contracting officer. Where tolerances could cumulatively result in incorrect fits, the contractor shall provide toler- ances

17、 within those prescribed on the drawings to insure correct fit, assembly, and operation of the support set. Any data (e.g., shop drawings, layouts, flow sheets, processing procedures, etc.) prepared by the contractor or obtained from a vendor to support fabrication and manufacture of the production

18、item shall be made available, upon request, for inpsection by the contracting officer or his designated representative. 3.2 First article. 21、59E 3.3.1 Recovered materials. For the purpose of this requirement, recovered materials are those materials which have been collected from solid waste and reprocessed to become a source of raw materials, as distinguished from virgin i raw materials. The components, pieces and parts incorporated in t

22、he support sets may be newly fabricated from recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, provided the support sets produced meets all other requirements of this specification- Used, rebuilt or remanufactured components, pieces and parts shall not be incorporated in the support sets. 3.4 T

23、reatment and painting. The support sets shall be treated and painted in accordance with MIL-T-704,.type A, or equivalent. The finish coat color shall match FED-STD-595, Color NO* 13538, 3.5 Identification mark-hg. The support sets shall be identified in accordance with MIL-STD-130Y 3.6 Suppor,t set,

24、size 1. Size 1 support sets shall be as shown on TA13216E9021 and as specified herein. 3.7 Support,set size 2. Size 2 support sets shall be as shown on TA13216E9026 and as specified herein. 3,8 Support set size 3. Size 3 support sets shall be as shown on TA13216E9027 and as specified herein. 3.9 Wor

25、kmanship. All parts and assemblies shall be clean and free from fins, No parts shall be damaged or impaired in any way, sprues, scale, flux, and other extraneous material. Burrs shall be removed and sharp edges shall be rounded, and shall show no evidence of corrosion, 3.9.1 Welders and welding. 3.9

26、.1.1 Welder quali,fication. Welder qualification shall be in accordance with the American Welding Society Structural Welding Code, D1.l, Section 5, Qualification. 3.9.1.2 Welding. Welding of steel shall be in accordance with the American Welding Society procedures for the applicable steels, welding

27、process optional. When welding is done after the item has been painted, the welded area shall be recleaned, treated, and painted in accordance with 3.4. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PKVICIONC 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is r

28、esponsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. the contract or order, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. Except as otherwise spe

30、conform to prescribed requirements. 4.1.1 Component and material inspection. The contractor is responsbile for assuring that components and materials used are manufactured, examined, and tested in accordance with referenced specifications and standards. 4.2 Classification of inspections. Inspections

31、 shall be classified as follows : a. First article inspection (see 4.3). b. Quality conformance inspection (see 4.4). c. Inspection of packaging (see 4.6). 4.3 First article insDection. 4.3.1 Examination. The support set shall be examined as specified in 4.5.1. Presence of one or more defects shall

32、be cause for rejection. 4.3.2 Tests. The support set shall be tested as specified in 4.5.2. Failure of the test shall be cause for rejection. 4.4 Quality conformance inspection. 4.4.1 Sampling. Sampling for examination and tests shall be in accordance w i t h MIL- STD- 1 O 5 . 4.4.2 Examination. Sam

33、ples selected in accordance with 4.4.1 shall be examined as specified in 4.5.1. The inspection level shall be level II with an AQL of 2.5 percent defective for major defects and 4.0 percent defective for minor detects. 4.4.3 Tests. Samples selected in accordance with 4.4.1 shall be tested as specifi

34、ed in 4.5.2.1. The inspection level shall be S-3 with an AQL of 1.0 percent defective. 4.5 Inspection procedure 4.5.1 Examination. Support sets shall be examined as specified herein, for the following defects: Major 101. Support sets incomplete. 102. Any design characteristic not in accordance with

38、.1 Proof load test. Assemble the support sets and erect a simulated single warehouse stack five pallets high. 2500 pounds on each of the four support pallets. on the bottom pallet.) minutes, stack, to the top pallet for not less than 90 seconds. The lot shall contain only one size of packed support sets. 4.6.1.3 Examination. Samples selected in accordance with 4.6.1.2 sh

PACKAGING 5.1 Packing. Packing shall be level A or C as specified (see 6.2). 5.1.1 Level A. . 5.1.1.1

44、 Size 1 support sets. Twelve size 1 support sets shall be packed as shown in figure 2 on a shipping base as shotm in figure 1. Twenty-four side section weldments shall be placed upright on the shipping base. Two lateral crossbar weldments shall be positioned on the outer two side section weldments.

45、A spacer, part number 5, shall be inserted between the two center side section weldments to eliminate movement of the weldments. Two pieces of lumber, part number 6, shall be placed over the tubing crossbars of the side section weldments and fastened to the spacer with three 4d nails at each interse

46、ction. The steel strapping shall encircle each part number 6 as well as the tubing crossbars and the spacer. Twenty-two lateral crossbar weldments and 12 tied rod weldments shall be placed in neat layers between the angle and tubular crossbars of the upright side section weldments. Part number 2 sha

47、ll be nailed to the plywood panel with 4d nails spaced approximately 5 inches apart. Part number 4 shall fit flat, cover the top layer of stacked support set components, and shall be nailed to the plywood panel with 6d nails spaced approximately 5 inches apart. The plywood panels with attached lumbe

48、r parts shall be secured at each end of the pack with steel strapping only, as shown in figure 2. 5.1.1.2 Size 2 support sets. Fifteen size 2 support sets shall be packed as specified in 5.1.1.1 and figures 1 and 2. Thirty side section weldments shall be placed upright on the shipping base. 5.1.1.3

49、Size 3 support sets. Ten size 3 support sets shall be packed as specified in 5.1.1.1 and figures 1 and 2. Twenty side section weldments shall be placed upright on the shipping base. 5.1.2 Level C. Level C shall be in accordance with ASTM D 3951. 5.2 Marking. 5.2.1 Level A. Marking for level A packing shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-129 and shall be placed on the plywood panel at either end of the pack. 5.2.2 Level C. Marking for level C packing sha
