Type 1 strainers shall have threaded connections, or beprovided with adaptors for threaded connections, and have removable screens,and be of the class and style required. When specified (see b.2). thestrainers shall have rotating screens or sc

15、raper blades, nwsual or motoroperated, for the purpose of cleaning screens without shutting down operationof the strainer. Unless specified as a twin or duplex type (see b.2).strainers for placement in the inlets of pressure-reducing valves. traps, orheating system pumps shall be of the single type

16、screen.3.1.2 TvDe rl. Type 11 strainers shall have flanged connections, be ofthe center or peripheral influent type of the class and style specified. andhave removable straining elements. Uhen specified (see 6.2), they shall haverotating screens or scraper blades, manual or motor operated, for purpo

17、se ofcleaning screens without shutting down operation of the strainer. “Ihe numberof straining elements shall be determined by the application in accordancewith the best industrial standards.3.2 Standard ccmwnercial product. lhe strainers shall. as a minimum, be inaccordance with the requirements of

18、 this specification and shall be themanufacturers standard c-rcial product. Additional or better featureswhich are not specifically prohibited by this specification but which are apart of the nmnufacturers standard c-rcial product, shall be included inthe strainers being furnished. A standard commer

19、cial product is a productwhich has been sold or is being currently offered for sale on the conrnercialmarket through advertisements or manufacturers catalogs, or brochures, andrepresents the latest production model.3.3 First article. hfhen specified in the contract or purchase order, asample shall b

20、e subjected to first article inspection (see 4.2.1 and 6.3).3.4 Materials. Materials used shall be free from defects which wouldadversely affect the performance or maintainability of individual componentsor of the overall assembly. Materials not specified herein shall be of thesame quality used for

21、the intended purpose in consnarcial practice. Unlessotherwise specified herein, all equipment, material, and articles incorporatedin the work covered by this specification are to be new and fabricated usingmaterials produced from recovered materials to the maximum extent possiblewithout jeopardizing

22、 the intended use. The term recovered materials meansmaterials which have been collected or recovered from solid waste andreprocessed to become a source of raw materials, as opposed to virgin rawmaterials. Unless othetwise specified, none of the above shall be interpretedto mean that the use of used

All units of the same classification furnishedwith similar options under a specific contract shall be identical

24、 to theextent necessary to insure interchangeability of component parts, assemblies.accessories, and spare parts.3.b Press ure-temrserature ratinas. Pressure-temperature ratings shall benot less than the following:a. Class 12S -115 psig atb. Class 250 -400 psig at125 psig saturated steam pressure; a

25、nd150” Fahrenheit (F).250 psig saturated team pressure; and150”F.3.7 Hydrostatic test Dressure. All strainers shallwithstanding a hydrostatic shell test pressure equal tosteam service pressure (see 3.6).3.8 Stvles.be capable oftwice the primary3.8.1 Stvles I and L. Styles I and L strainers shall hav

26、e the accessopening in line with the filter element.3.8.2 Stvles S and “T. Nonscraper type, styles S and T strainers shall bedesigned for positioning the element vertically within the body. Scraper typestrainers may have the element positioned at an angle within the body. Unlessotherwise specified (

27、see 6.2), the access opening shall be located at the topof the body. A clean-out connection shall be tapped in a boss on the bottomof the body.3.8.3 Stvle Y. The branch leg of the Y pattern shall be inclined 30 to65 from the straight run. The strainer element shall be located on thebranch leg of the

28、 Y pattern and shallbranch leg. The clean-out connectioncover.3.9 Construction.be removable through the end of theshall be tapped in the access cap or3.9.1 Strainer bodies. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), the bodiesshall be malleable iron, or cast iron. The bodies shall be so designed thatthe

29、flow is into the inlet and either to the inside or outside of the strainerelement as specified (see 6.2), then through the strainer element to theoutlet of the body and into and through the outlet connection.3.9.2 Connections. All type 1 strainer connections shall be tapped withAmerican National Tap

30、er Pipe threads. The element shall be formed into acylinder

31、or frustrum of a cone with one or both ends open. The element shallbe properly reinforced to prevent deformation resulting in by-passing sedimentparticles. All joints in the element shall be joined by silver brazing,soldering. riveting, wdding, or crimping. Elements shall be constructed ofperforated

32、 sheet metal or of woven wire mesh as specified (see 6.2).3.9.4 Strainer element material. Strainer elements shall be of thefollowing materials for the service specified (see 6.2):a. Steam, water, gas or air - Brass, bronze, nickel-copper-alloy, orstainless steel sheet metal; and phosphor-bronze, ni

33、ckel, copperalloy or stainless steel wire mesh.b. Oil service - Iron or steel and the materials included insubparagraph a. of 3.9.4.3.9.5 Size of oDeninqs. Unless otherwise specified (see b.2), elementsshall have wire mesh openings, or perforations of 0.014 inch minimum forsteam. 0.031 inch minimum

34、for steam mixed with condensate, and 0.042 inchminimum for water or low-viscosity oil.3.9.6 Ratio of net strainer area to Dipe area. Unless othewise specified(see 6.2), the ratio of the net effective strainer area to the cross-sectionalflou area of standard weight pipe of the same nominal size as th

35、e strainershall be not less than 2.50 to 1. When mesh and perforated metal are usedotogether, the open area should be the result of multiplying the open areas ofeach together.3.9.7 Access cover. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), the accesscover shall be cast iron or malleable iron and shall be s

36、ecured to thestrainer body by means of through bolts, hinged bolts. yokes, cap scre=. . orstuds of appropriate size and number. Uhether screwed or bolted, the accesscover may have a female pipe thread for a blow-down connection, in which shallbe installed a brass pipe plug. The plug shall be tight u

37、nder test andservice conditions. Strainers of 3-inch pipe size and smaller may have athreaded access cover with either pipe threads and no gasket, or straightthreads with a gasket.3.9.8 Cover qasket. blhether the access cover is screwed or bolted, agasket shall be installed between cover and body to

38、 insure cover tightnessunder test and service conditions. lhe gasket shall be composed of a materialsuitable for the intended application and use, as specified (see 6.2). Fortype 1, style Y, screwed connection strainers in size 2 inch and under, agasket need not be furnished when the access cover is

39、 secured with taperedpipe threads.3.9.9 LIottam drain vluq. Each strainer shall bear the following service a71markings

40、, cast integral with, stamped or otherwise permanently marked uponthe body:a.b.c.3.10.2marked ForSediment.“125” as pressure identification for class 125 strainers.2S0 as pressure identification for class 250 strainers.An arrow or other appropriate mark to indicate flow direction.Identification marki

41、ng. Equipment, assemblies. and parts shall beidentification. The nomenclature of the item shall be “Strainer,Uhen soecified (see b.2). the strainer shall include the FederalStock Number. “3.11 S9are garts and maintenance tools. Uhen specified (see 6.2), spareparts and maintenance tools shall be furn

42、ished.3.12 Idorkmanshio. The strainers shall be clean, free from scale, smooth,round. straight. and of proper dimensions. Also, the strainers shall be freefrom injurious grooving, indentations: racks, flaws, slivers, or other harmfulimperfections which would interfere with use of the strainer in the

43、 applica-tion for which it is intended.3.12.1 Metal fabrication. Metal used in fabrication of equipment shallbe free from kinks. Material shall be straightened by methods that will notcause injury to the metal. Shearing and chipping shall be done neatly andaccurately. lame cutting, with use of a tip

44、 suitable for the thickness ofmetal, may be employed instead of shearing or sawing, provided that exposed oedges are smoothly made. All bends shall be made by controlled means toensure uniformity of size and shape. Precautions shall be taken to avoidoverheating and heated metal shall be allowed to c

45、ool slowly.3.12.2 LSolted connections. Liolt holes shall be accurately punched ordrilled and shall have the burrs removed. All bolts, nuts, and screws shallbe tight.3.12.3 Uiveted connections. Rivet holes shall be accurately punched ordri”f led and shall have the burrs removed. Rivets shall be drive

46、n withpressure tools and shall completely fill the holes. Rivet heads, when notcountersunk or flattened, shall be of approved shape and of uniform sizefor the same diameter of rivet. Rivet heads shall be full, neatly made,concentric with the rivet holes, and in full contact with the surface ofthe me

47、mber.3.12.4 Ueldinq. Welding procedures shall be in accordance with anationally recognized welding code. The surface of parts to be welded shallbe free from rust. scale, paint, grease, or other foreign matter. Weldsshall be of sufficient size, and shape to develop the full strength of theparts conne

48、cted by the welds. All castin

49、gs shall be sound and free from patching,a71 misplaced coring, warping, or any other defect which reduces the castingsability to perfona its intended function.3.12.6 Nachine work. Tolerances for contact and bearing surfaces shallconform to standards prevailing among manufacturers normally producingstrainers.4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified
