Th
2、is commercial item description covers transparent, plastic, mouth inflatable, pneumatic splints, with full length zipper closure, for the emergency treatment of fractures or superficial bleeding of the full adult arm or leg. Salient characteristics. The splint shall be adult size, double-wall plasti
3、c construction, with full length zipper closure, and a valve with mouthpiece for inflation by mouth. The splint shall be one of the following types: Type I - Splint, Arm, Pneumatic, Adult, Zipper Closure. Type II - Splint, Leg, Open Toe, Pneumatic, Adult, Zipper Closure. The splint shall be construc
4、ted in accordance.with DPSC Drawing No. 23187 to the revision in effect on the date of solicitation. Materials used shall contain no ingredients known to be skin sensitizers or irritants. The splint shal be constructed of clear, transparent film conforming to the requirements of Federal Speciication

7、ee specular gloss of 140 units on each surface when tested on a dull background as specified in ASTM-D-2457.“ The outer wall shall be 12 gage (0.012 inch nominal), the inner wall shall be 8 gage (0.008 inch nominal), and the zipper reinforcing strips shall be between 0.008 and 0.020 inch material th

The zipper closure shall conform to the requirements o Federal Specification V-F-106 except it shall be fabricated of a polyester coil with white enameled die cast zinc slide and end stops, size L, LS or LM. The arm splint shall be Type I Style 3, nonseparating, nonreversible. The leg splin
9、t shall be Type IV Style 8, separating, nonreversible. Tape shall be 9/16 inch wide, white open weave (Leno) cotton or white cotton impregnated with a clear vinyl plastic. The leg splint zipper pull shall include a thong fabricated of nylon cord conforming to Type IA (coreless) of MIL-C-5040. The Co
10、re may be removed. The ends of the cord shall be tied by means of a non-slippable knot to form a loop 2 inches 5 1/4 inch in length. Strands of cord ends shall be fused. 11、l. The valve for opening and closing the air inflation passage shall be a screw type with knurled external member to which a plastic mouthpiece is assembled. 12、ASE or equal for the arm splint and No. 240 ASE or equal for the leg splint. A cushioning medium such as plastic air bubbles or other suitable material may be placed between the fol
14、ds of the splint to prevent the folded edge from being creased. With the zipper in the closed position, the folded splint shall be inserted into the immediate container which shall be an air-tight bag fabricated of polyethylene having a minimum thickness of 0.002 inch. The bag shall be heat sealed a
15、fter excess air has been evacuated. Instructions for use shall be permanently marked on the immediate container. In addition, the following statement shall be located below the instructions for use in 3/16 minimum capital letters: “CAUTION - USE IN AIRCRAFT REQUIRES MONITORING THE SPLINT PRESSURE TO
16、 PREVENT NEUROVASCULAR INJURY. LIMIT INFLATION PRESSURE TO ADEQUATE FRACTURE SUPPORT ONLY.“ The following information shall be printed in 1/8 inch minimum letters: “The aneroid pressure gage of a standard sphygmomanometer should be available for monitoring the splint pressure during ascent and desce
17、nt. Splints air transported should be inflated to provide adequate support of the fractured limb (below 50 mm Hg). Over-inflation is to be specifically avoided. The splint shall be tested for leakage by closing the zipper inflating the splint to a pressure of 60 mm Hg, closing the valve and immersing in water. There shall be no air bubble escape from the immersed splint. Reference specifi

Where Military or Federal Specifications, ASTM Stnadards or drawings are referenced herein, the issue of that specification standard or drawing in effect on the date of solicitation shall be used to determine compliance with stated requirements. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract or purchas
22、e order, the contractor may use his own or any facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are
23、deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. Records. Records of examinations and tests performed by or for the contractor shall be maintained. by the contractor and made available to the Government upon the Governments request, at any time, or from time to ti
