This Comercial Item Description c
2、oveps a white, thermal weave cotton, bed blanket. The bed blanket shall be a bleached, white, all cotton, leno weave blanket suitable for use in hospital rooms, surgical operating rooms, and oxygen enriched environments. The blanket shall be furnished in the following two sizes: Size 1 66 inches plu
3、s or minus 2 inches wide by 90 inches plus or minus 2 inches long. Size 2 31 inches plus or minus 2 inches wide by 36 inches plus or minus 2 inches long (infant blanket). The blanket cloth shall be fabricated from a grade and ertaple length of cotton, carded, drawn, and spun into yarn which shall co

8、-54143 11 conform to class 2 of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Standard 703, Flammability of Wearing Apparel, except that flame spread shall be 10 seconds or more at a 45 degree angle. The finished cloth shall not be flame retardant treated. All the sewing operations shall be perfo
9、rmed with a soft finish, unbleached OF white and tints, cotton thread, Ticket No. 30, 3 ply, with a 3 pound minimum breaking strength. The blanket shall be fabricated from one piece of the cloth without any joining seams, rectangular in shape, with hemmed ends. The minimum weight of the size 1 blank
10、et shall be 2.4 pounde. The minimum weight of the size 2 blanket shall be 9.3 ounces. Each blanket shall be fabricated from one piece of the blanket cloth with selvaged sides. Each end shall be turned down with each raw edge turned under, for 1/2 inch plus or minus 1/8 inch, to form a hem 1 inch plu
11、s or minus 1/8 inch wide. The seam shall be produced by turning the edge of the material, folding it back over the body of the material, and stitching the turned and folded portion to the body of the material with two POWS of stitches, a minimum of six stitches per inch. A lockstitch (type 3011, cha
12、in stitch (type 4011, or safety stitch (type 402) shall be used. Each hem shall be sewn with two rows of stitching, 3/16 to 5/16 inch apart, in a manner that shall catch the turnunder. No side of the size 1 blanket shall be hammed. The size 2 blanket may have full length plain woven side borders, or
13、 one or two hemmed side borders. The blanket may contain a centered plain weave stripe, approximately 2 inches wide, in the entire length of the blanket. The leno weave shall be in the length direction. O Each row of stitching shall be straight and parallel to the seam edge. The straightness of the
14、stitching, in any row, shall be maintained within a tolerance of plus or minus 1/32 inch. The ends of lockstitching shall be backstitched, by overlapping on theniselves, a mnimum of 1/2 inch. Each thread break, skip, and run-off, shall be overstitched not less than 1/2 inch. The thread tension shall

Inspection, as used herein, is defined as both examination (such as visual or auditory investigation without the use of special laboratory appliances or procedures) and testing (determination by technical means of physical and chemical prop
24、erties) of the item. The sampling for the testing of the blanket cloth shall be as follows: 800 or less 2 801 up to and including 22,000 3 22,001 and over 5 The sample unit of cloth for test purposes shall be one linear yard of the cloth. The samples shall be taken from the beginning of each roll. T
25、he lot shall be unacceptable if one OP more sample units fail to meet any of the fabric property requirements. Physical tests required for the cloth may be performed on samples taken from the assembled blankets. To determine the number of blankets (sample size) to be taken for testing of the cloth,
26、substitute blankets for yards in lot size. Sampling for tests including dimensional test, shall be conducted in accordance with MIL-STD-105, with an AQL of 4.0 (percent defective) and an inspection level of 5-3. 29、all other requirements of this document are met. If a product is manufactured to metric dimensions and those dimensions exceed the tolerances specified in the inch/pound Units, a request should be made to the contracting officer to determine if the product i8 acceptable. The contracting officer has
