This Commercial Ite
2、m Description covers a disposable, white, nonwoven pillowcase. Salient characteristics: The pillowcase shall be a white disposable pillowcase made of nonwoven material, composed of a wet-laid or air-laid nonwoven fabric. The material shall conform to the following specifications: Basis weight (24 by

The material shall be rendered water-resistant and shall be treated to prevent soak-through of blood, per
11、spiration and the other fluids. The material shall be rendered fire- resistant, and, when tested in accordance with TAPP1 Method T461-os-68, shall show not more than 5-1/2 inches char in 12 seconds and 3 seconds afterglow. The material shall show an immediate extinguishing of flame when the lighted
12、match is removed. Masking agents may be employed to mask objectionable The pillowcase shall be of the slip-on envelope type, and shall be constructed of one or two pieces of material. The finished overall flat dimensions shall be 31-1/2 inches plus or minus 1/2 inch long, and 20-1/2 inches plus or m
13、inus 1/2 inch wide. When constructed from one piece, the material shall be folded so that only the sides shall be joined or folded so that only one side and one end are joined, leaving the opposite end open. When constructed from two pieces of material, one end and the sides shall be superimposed an
14、d joined. The seams shall be glued or sewed, and shall be straight and even. Folding, or overlapping, of seams is prohibited. The seams, if glued, shall adhere securely throughout their entire area, and shall be free from wrinkles. The seams shall be stronger than the adjoining material when separat
15、ion by hand is attempted. The glued seam width shall be 1/8 to 3/16 inch wide for the side seams, and 1/8 to 1/4 inch wide for the bottom seam. The side seams shall start not more than 1/16 inch from the side edge of the material, and the bottom seam shall start not more than 3/8 inch from the botto
16、m edge of the material. There shall be no excess glue, nor pronounced discoloration, along the seam area. The adhesive used shall be a suitable polyvinyl acetate adhesive. If the seams are sewed, the stitch type shall conform to an overedge stitch type in the 500 series. There shall be six to ten st
17、itches per inch. The thread shall be white cotton thread, ticket no. 50, 3 ply. Workmanship. Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is resp
19、onsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Go
20、vernment. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. Records. Records of examinations and tests performed by or for the contractor s
21、hall be maintained by the contractor and made available to the Government upon the Governments request, at any time, or from time to time, during the performance of the contract and for a period of three years after delivery of the supplies to which such records relate. Inspection. Inspection, as us
22、ed herein, is defined as both examination (such as visual or auditory investigation without the use of special laboratory appliances or procedures) and testing (determination by technical means of physical and chemical properties) of the item. Samplinq for examination. Sampling for examination shall
23、 be conducted in accordance with MIL-STD-105, with an AQL of 4.0 (percent defective) and an inspection level of II. The unit of product for examination purposes shall be one nonwoven fabric pillowcase. Samplinq for tests. Sampling for tests, including dimensional test, shall be conducted in accordan
24、ce with MIL-STD-105, with an AQL of 2.5 (percent defective) and an inspection level of S-3. The unit of product for test purposes shall be one nonwoven fabric pillowcase. Tests. Tests shall be conducted to determine compliance with specification requirements. Where feasible, the same sample shall be

Products manufactured to metric dimensions will be considered on an equal basis with those manufactured usin
26、g inch-pound units, providing they fall within the tolerances specified using conversion tables contained in the latest revision of Federal Standard 376, and all other requirements of this document are met. If a product is manufactured to metric dimensions and those dimensions exceed the tolerances
27、specified in the inch/pound units, a request should be made to the contracting officer to determine if the product is acceptable.
