SCOPE .1.1 Scope. This specification covers to

Nothing in this specification, however, shall supersede applicable laws and regulations unless a specific exemption has been obt
15、ained. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 General requirements. The hemostatic forceps shall be in accordance with the applicable requirements of GG-1-526, and as specified herein. 3.2 Material. The forceps shall be fabricated from Class 4, 3.3 Hardness. After proper stress relieving, Rockwell hardness martensitic
16、 stainless steel, shown in Table II, ASTM F899. shall be C40 to C45 when tested as specified in 4.4.1. The requirements of GG-1-526 shall apply. 3.4 Style, design and dimensions. Shall be a towel forceps of the Backhaus desisn, used to clamp towels to skin surface during surgical procedures. binding

The box lock construction shall be accuiately Eitted, and shall be without crevices, burrs, or sharp edges at any pla
19、ce in the lock construction. Pin or rivet shall be permanently secured. The joint performance shall be smooth, of equal resistance, and non-binding in all positions when opening or closing the Eorceps (the lock may be lubricated). Further, under no circumstances shall looseness or free play o either
20、 shank permit any misalignment o the jaws in closing. NOTE: This paragraph shall replace the requirements specified in GG-L-526 for locks. 3.6 Finish. Finish shall be entirely mirror, satin or matte. Should the instrument be of mirror finish, the locks and ratchets shall be polished smooth, but need
21、 not possess a mirror finish. The matte finish shall exhibit a uniform nondirectional surface texture equivalent to that produced by lightly blasting the prepared surface with Eine abrasives under pressure. 3.6.1 Passivation. The Eorceps shall be properly passivated. 3.7 Additional requirements. 3.7
22、*1 Butting of jaw tips. When tested as specified in 4.4.2, the jaw tip8 shall not butt together. 3.7.2 Flushness of jaws. When tested as specified in 4.4.3r the working portion o the jaws shall not allow full passage of the test material. 3.7.3 Shank side play. When tested as specified in 4.4.4, the
23、 working portion of the jaws shall not reverse orientation (position) with respect to each other. 3.8 Identification markings. 25、r the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. All items must meet all requirements of sections 3 and 5. The i
27、nspection set forth in this specification shall become a part of the contractors overall inspection system or quality program. The absence of any inspection requirements in the specification shall not relieve the contractor of the responsibility of assuring that all products or supplies submitted to
28、 the Government for acceptance comply with all requirements of the contract. Records of examinations and tests performed by or for the contractor shall be maintained by the contractor and made available to the Government, upon the Governments request, at any time
30、, or from time to time, during the performance of the contract and for a period of 3 years after delivery of the supplies to which such records relate. 4.1.4 Certificate of quality. Certificate of quality supplied by the manufacturer of the corrosion-resistant steel may be furnished in lieu of actua
31、l performance of such testing by the contractor, provided lot identityhas been maintained and can be demonstrated to the Government. The certificate shall include the name of the contractor, the contract number, the name of the manufacturer or supplier, the National Stock Number, the item identifica
32、tion, the lot number, the lot size, the sample size, the date of testing, the test method, individual test results, and the specification requirements. 4 . 2 Sampling . 4.2.1 For examination. Sampling for examination shall be conducted in accordance with MIL-STD-105, and as indicated in table I. Uni

The sampling and inspection of the preservation and interior package marking shall be in accordance with groups A and B quality conformance inspection requirements of MIL-P- 116. The sampling and inspectio
42、n of the packing and marking for shipment and storage shall be in accordance with the quality assurance provisions of the applicable container specification and the marking requirements of MIL-STD-129. 4.4 Tests. Tests shall be conducted to determine compliance with specification requirements. 4.4.1
43、 Hardness test. Hardness shall be determined in accordance with ASTM Standards E 18 or E 92. Conversion of Vickers hardness values to Rockwell values shall be in accordance with ASTM Standard E 140 . 4.4.2 Butting test. The forceps shall be opened and closed five times, without exerting lateral forc

The Eorceps shall be placed in the closed position. A metal thick
45、ness gage (eeeler gage) not exceeding 0.002 inch shall be used to determine i gaps between both sides o each jaw allow Eu11 passage of the feeler gage. The eeler gage shall not be forced between the jaws, but utilized with as little Eorce as possible. 4.4.4 Shank side play. The forceps shall be open
46、ed and closed without: exerting lateLa1 Eorce. The jaws shall be observed or - reversal o position. 5. PACKAGING 5.3 Preservation. Preservation shall be level A or C as specified (see 6.2.). 5.1.1.1 Cleaning and dryins. Each forceps shall be cleaned and dried in accordance with MIL-P-116. 5.3.11.2 P
47、reservative applications. Preservatives shall not be Used 5.1.1.3 Unit package. Each orceps shall be packaged in a accordance with MIL-P-116, Method IC-1. 5.1.1.4 Lnterrnediate package. Twelve unit packages shall be packaged in a hox conorming to PPP-B-566, PPP-B-636, Type CF, class domestic or PPP-
48、B-676. Closure shall be as speciied in the applicable box specification, 5.3.2 Level C. The level C preservation or forceps shall conorm to the MIL-STD-794 requirements or this level. 5.2 Packing Packing shall be level A, B or C as speciEied (see 6*2) 1 5.2.1 Level A.
