CATHODE RAY TUBES (Primarily for Home Entertainment) It shall be standard to assign type designations to this category of cathode ray pictu
11、re tubes as follows: The designation shall consist of three symbols and one or more suffix letter symbols, if required. These symbols shall have the following significance: The first symbol shall be a number determined by the diameter or diagonal in inches of the minimum useful screen, followed by t
12、he letter “V“. or diagonal within plus or minus one half of an integer shall be assigned that integer. Where the dimensions fall exactly on the half inch, the tube shall be assigned the next larger integer. A tube having its minimum useful screen diameter The second symbol shall be two or more lette
13、rs excluding I, O, P, T, V, and combinations of identical letters, to distinguish between tubes having the same first symbol. COLOR CATHODE RAY TUBE ASSEMBLIES (H
15、ome Entertainment Only) It shall be standard to assign type designations to this category of color cathode ray picture tube assemblies as follows: The designation shall consist of three symbols, and one or more suffix letter symbols, if required. These symbols shall have the following significance:
16、The first symbol shall be a number determined by the diameter or diagonal in inches of the minimum useful screen, followed by the letter “V“. A tube having its minimum useful screen diameter or diagonal within plus or minus one half of an integer shall be assigned that integer. Where the dimension f
17、alls exactly on a half inch, the tube shall be assigned the next larger integer. The second symbol shall be two.or more letters, excluding I, O, P, T, V, and combinations of identical letters, to distinguish between tube assem- blies having the same first symbol but with differences in the basic tub
18、e exclusive of the integrally mounted external components. The third symbol shall consist of the letters “TC“ followed by a two-digit serial number to distinguish tube assemblies having the same first and second symbols but with differences in the integrally mounted external components. The suffix l
19、etter symbol shall have the following significance: The letters A, B, C, D, E, and F, ,assigned in that order, indicate later and modified versions which are unilaterally interchangeable. That is, each can be substituted for any previous version, while the reverse may not be possible. 1. The first v
20、ariation of a tube/cornponent combination will receive a TCOI designation. Shguld the same CRT-minus external compo- nents be required at that time or subsequently, the same basic type number with a P22 designation will be assigned by the Type Administra tor. 2. A tube/component type designation may
21、 be assigned by dropping the P22 and adding TCOI where the same CRT-minus external compo- nents have been registered previously. CATHODE RAY TUBES (Primarily for Applications Other Than Home Entertainment) it shall be standard to assign type designations to this category of ca ray tubes as follows:

A tube having its diameter within plus or minus one half of an integer shall be assigned that integer. A tube falling exactly on the one-half inch dimension shall be assigned the
24、next smaller integer. The second symbol shall be a letter or letters, excluding I, O, P, V and combinations of identical letters, to distinguish between tubes having the same first symbol. The third symbol shall consist of the letter IPil and a number to designate phosphor characteristic. The suffix
25、 letter symbol shall have the following significance: (a) The letters A, B, C, D, E, and F, assigned in that order, in- dicate later and modified versions which are unilaterally interchangeable; that is, each can be substituted for any previous version, while the reverse may not be possible. The let
26、ter W indicates a military type and is assigned only on behalf of the Armed Forces. The letter W, when used, shall precede any other suffix letters. 27、g system of type designations for receiving tubes. The type designation shall consist of (i) a first number symbol, (2) a first letter symbol, (3) a second number symbol, and (4) one or more suffix letter symbols if required. These symbols shall have the following significance: I. FIRST NUMBER SYMBO
28、L The first number symbol shall consist of one or more digits indicating the rated filament or heater voltage in accordance with the following: Volts (a) No Filament O (b) Untapped O or Heater Over Filament 1.6 or Heater 2.6 3.6 n - 0.4 First Number Symbol O Through I .6 I 2.6 2 3.6 3 4.6 4 n + 0.6
29、(n = any integer) n (c) Tapped Filament or Heater The first number symbol shall be assigned in accordance with the above table and shall indicate the total rated voltage of the filament or heater sections operated in series at rated current. 2. FIRST LETTER SYMBOL The first letter symbol shall consi
30、st of one or more letters; the letters I; O, P, and combinations of identical letters shall NOT be used. 3. SECOND NUMBER SYMBOL The second number symbol shall consist of one or more digits indicating the number of useful elements for which terminals are provided. (a) The envelope of a metal tube, t
31、he metal base of a lock-in tube, and internal shielding having its separate and exclusive terminal(s) shall count as useful elements, (b) A filament or heater shall count as a single useful element except that a tapped filament or heater of two or more sections of unequal rated section voltages or c
32、urrents shall count as two useful elements. COMBINATION OF FIRST LETTER SYMBOL AND SECOND NUMBER SYMBOL (a) This combination alone shall establish a tube type family whose members differ only in one or more of the f
34、ollowing: (I) Voltage and current ratings of either filament or heater. The voltage rating may differ from the first type re gi gistered and lowest. members of a family shall not exceed 25% of the wattage of the first type registered. When the first registration includes two or more members of a fam
35、ily, the highest wattage member governs. but the numerical difference between the highest (2) Heater-cathode voltage rating. (b) The family symbols for any one family shall be used for tube types within that family. (c) Each family member shall be registered with its respective data. 5. SUFFIX LETTE
36、R SYMBOL The suffix letter symbol shall consist of one or more letters indicating distinguishing features and having the fol lowing significance: (a) “X“ indicates a “IOW-loss“ base composed of material having a loss factor of 0.035 maximum. Determination of loss factor shall be in accordance with t
37、he latest issue of ASTM Designation D-150. (b) IIYic indicates an “intermediate-loss“ base composed of material having a loss factor of 0.1 maximum. Determination of loss factor shall be in accordance with the latest issue of ASTM Designation D- 150. (c) “Wl indicates a military type and is assigned
38、 only on behalf of the Armed Forces. *Attention is called to the fact that some type designations made in the past and currently in use do not conform to these new and revised rules concerning families of types. 39、that order indicate a modified version that can be substituted for any lower suffix letter yersion, but not vice-versa. -Suffix letters shall be assigned to a new or a modified version of a family member such that this member has the same suffix letter as other members of the same family incorporati
40、ng the same modifications (with the permissible exception of heater warm-up time). Type numbers having suffix letters which are by- passed when this procedure is followed may be assigned at .a later date if deemed necessary. (e) When used in combination, suffix letters shall ,appear in the following
41、 relative sequence: W; X, or Y; A, 6, C, Dy E, or F. 5. ELECTRON TUBES AND ALLIED DEVICES (Pr mar i I y for Industr ia1 Appl kat ions) It shall be standard to use the following.sys electron tubes and allied devices: em of type designations for The type designation shall consist of a pure numeric, an
42、d one or more suffix-letter symbols if required. (I) The pure numeric shall start with 5500 and shall be assigned consecutively and chronologically in the order of type-designation request. (2) The suffix-letter symbol shall consist of one or more letters as required. These letters shall have the fo
43、l lowing significance: (a) The letters A, B, Cy D, E, and F assigned in that order indicate a. later and modified version that is unilaterally interchangeable in all respects with any previous version. (b) The letter W indicates a military type and is to be used only by the Armed Forces and their au
44、thorized agents. It is recognized that the armed services may assign additional change letters, A, By Cy etc. after the W assignment. The letters A, B, C, when so used will not necessarily correlate with letters assigned without the W suffix letter. *The assignment of suffix letters on this basis represents a departure from the previous practice, The rule will be applied to new registrations and reregistrations but will not be applied retroactively. -N
