12、cification relates to electromechanical rotary switches of certified quality. These families of switches are for use in electronic, communication and other low power applications. Switches covered by this specification have ratea voltages not exceeding 250 volts and a rated current not exceeding two
13、 amperes (dc or rms values). For logic leve

For low level ratea switcnes, the preferred voltage is 30 millivolts dc or peak ac. 2.4.2 Rated Current: The following current ratings are preferre: Less than 250 milliamperes - manufacturers option 250 500, 750 milliamperes 1 and 2 amperes The p

(6) The quantity of test specimens shall be the same as required for the qualification approval tests. 4 TEST AND MEASUREMENT PROC
32、EDURE 4.1 Test 6-1 Strenuth of Actuator This test is applicable only to switches having means of limiting the rotational movement (stops). The applicable rotational torque shall be specified in the detail specification. 4.2 Test 7-1 High/Low Ternuature - Mechanical Endurance If a switch is rated for
33、 millivolt level only (2.1) , or in addition has other required resistance measurements (2.2 or 2.3), only the millivolt level need be conducted. Object: The object of the test is the assessment of the attenuation of a transmitted signal provided by a panel mounted switch. Methoa: The switches shall
34、 be testea ir, accoraance with the following details: a) The test equipment shall be in accordance with Figure 1. 35、such that the received signal level is at least as many dB above the RF ambient level as that of the shielded enclosure attenuation. Record the receive signal level and the signal generator output level . Repeat measurements at 100, 200, 400, 600, 800 and 1,000 MHz. Move the antennas to the final te
36、st positions, close the door and with an RF-tight blank panel between the antennas, measure the integrity of the enclosure by setting the signal generator to the same output and record the received signal level for each frequency used in step b. The shielded enclosure attenuation is then calculate u
37、sing the following equation: c) Attenuation (dB) = 20 log u E2 El = receiver reading in step b E2 = receiver reading in step c d) Mount the test switch in the blank panel with the rear of the switch outside of the shielded enclosure (towar6 the signal generator antenna). The switch shall be mounted
38、as it would be for normal installation using the mounting hardware supplied or recommended. Repeat the measurements of step c above and calculate the shielding attenuation of the switch using the new receiver readings. Criteria: The attenuation shall not be less than 60 dB over the frequency range o
39、f 100 to 1,000 MHz, unless otherwise specified. Stops that may be adjusted to provide any number
40、of positions desired, at the option of the user. This adjustment shall be made externally and not require disassembly of the switch. Bushing Projection. That portion of the threaded mounting bushing (on one hole mounting switches) which extends beyond the mounting surface and passes through the moun
41、ting panel or bracket. Common Contact or Collectcr. Also called “pole terminal. II That contact which is common to all other contacts in any one pole throughout the full rotation of the switch. Contact Arrangement. The circuitry of the switch and/or the arrangement of terminals and contacts on a swi
42、tch section. Contact Force. The amount of force exerte by one side of a closed contact upon the other side, sometimes called - “contact pressure. Contact Resistance. The resistance of a pair of closed contacts. As measurea from terminal to terminal, this includes the circuit resistance of the contac
43、t sembers themselves. Contact-Voltage-Drop. The voltage drop measure6 ccross a pair of closed contacts - may vary with current. Continuous Rotation. A switch suppliea without stops SO that it may be rotated a full 360 degrees in either direction. A detent may or may not be include as specified on th
44、e detail specification. Cycle of Operation. Rotation of a switch from one stop to the other stop and return. Double-End Mounting. Mounting to the panel t the front and, in addition, fastening the rear end of th
46、e switch to the chassis or frame of the instrument by means of a rear bracket. Dummy Lug. A tie-point lug not associatea with switching. Enclosed Switches. Switches where all parts of the switch are enclosed by some type of housing. (This does not mean hermetically sealea.) Fixed Stops. Devices inco
47、rporated within the switch to limit the rotation of the switch to a preetermine number of positions. Front-End Mounting. Mounting to the panel by a threaded mounting bushing t the front end of the switch only. Indexing (angle of throw) . The angular displacement of the movable contact in moving from
48、 one position to the next consecutive position. This is normally stated in degrees. Inter-Element Capacity. The capacitance between various elements of the switch. Life. The number of cycles of operations during which the electrical and mechanical performance will meet predeter- mined and stated lif
49、e-limiting criteria. Low Level Circuit. A circuit in which the open circuit voltage is 30 mV or less and the current 10 mA or less. Non-Shorting Contacts. Also called “break-before-make. Contacts such that, when switching from one position to the next, fully break from the first contact before making the next contact. Non-Turn Device (locating Key). The device which keys the switch to the panel or mounting bracket, so that the orientation of the switch with respect to the mounting surface remains constant. This may be a tab
