、 EIA STANDARD Lead Taping of Components in Axial Lead Configuration for Automatic Handling EIA-296-F March 2015 ANSI/EIA-296-F(2015) Approved: March 27, 2015 EIA-296-F NOTICE EIA Engineering Standards and Publications are designed to serve the public interest through eliminating misunderstandings be
、tween manufacturers and purchasers, facilitating interchangeability and improvement of products, and assisting the purchaser in selecting and obtaining with minimum delay the proper product for his particular need. Existence of such Standards and Publications shall not in any respect preclude any me
、mber or nonmember of ECIA from manufacturing or selling products not conforming to such Standards and Publications, nor shall the existence of such Standards and Publications preclude their voluntary use by those other than ECIA members, whether the standard is to be used either domestically or inte
、rnationally. Standards and Publications are adopted by ECIA in accordance with the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) patent policy. By such action, ECIA does not assume any liability to any patent owner, nor does it assume any obligation whatever to parties adopting the Standard or Public
、ation. This EIA Standard is considered to have International Standardization implication, but the International Electrotechnical Commission activity has not progressed to the point where a valid comparison between the EIA Standard and the IEC document can be made. This Standard does not purport to a
、ddress all safety problems associated with its use or all applicable regulatory requirements. It is the responsibility of the user of this Standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and to determine the applicability of regulatory limitations before its use. 8、g and optional fan fold packaging of taped axial leaded components are defined in Figure 2, Table 2 and associated paragraphs 6.1 through 6.4. 4.3 Dimensions contained in this Standard are expressed in metric terms with English equivalents. Metric dimensions shall govern. EIA-296-F Page 2 4.4 Procur

(c) Taping quality requirements including maximum number of missing parts if different than Paragraph 5.7. (d) Ree

、rmissible provided they do not degrade the strength or handling characteristics of the taped component. Staples shall not be used. The splicing tapes shall be of equal strength to the original tape and shall overlap a minimum of 50.8mm (2.0) in each direction of the break in the tape being joined. T
、ape splices shall not allow any misalignment greater than 0.8mm (.031). 5.3 A minimum 200mm (7.87) leader shall be provided at both ends of each finished length of taped components. 5.4 Nominal tape width (“T“, Figure 1) shall be from 5.0mm (.197) to 6.35mm (.25) or 9mm (.354), provided that variati

All materials used for lead taping, reeling and packaging shall not cause deterioration of the c
、omponent or lead solderability. 5.6 All polarized components must be oriented in the same direction. The cathode lead tape(s) shall be colored and the anode tape(s) shall be white. 5.7 Empty spaces in the tape (i.e., missing components) shall not exceed 0.1% of the total number of components per con
、tainer. No consecutive missing components are allowed. 5.8 For special cases where Table 1 does not apply the maximum tape spacing (B, Figure 1) shall not exceed 122mm (4.803); its value shall be chosen in relation to the component dimensions. 5.9 Components shall be held sufficiently in the tape or
、 tapes so that they cannot come free in normal handling. 5.10 The maximum component body diameter must be less than the nominal component pitch.
