13、N FORCE TEST PROCEDURE FOR INSULATION DISPLACEMENT CONTACTS (IDC) FOR ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS 1 Object The object of this test procedure is to determine the force necessary to remove the wire within the connection slot of an accessible insulation displacement termination along the longitudinal axis of
14、 the termination. 2 Test specimen The test specimen shall consist of an insulation displacement termination with one inserted wire as specified in the Detail Specification. If necessary, the termination may be separated from the component, provided the insulation displacement connection is not affec

16、 testing machine: Capable of applying a force at a rate of 25 millimeters per minute to 50 millimeters per minute (1 inch per minute to 2 inch per minute). 3.5 Force gage: Capable of measuring peak force within 2%. 4 Test procedure 4.1 The sample shall be securely held and aligned in the holding dev
17、ice part of the test fixture as indicated in figure 1. The wire extraction tool should be held in a self-aligning fixture on the testing machine to minimize off-axis loading forces.
