19、sfieldsofapplicationanddiversenatureof garmentmaterials. Twotestmethodsaredescribedformeasuringtherateofdissipationofelectrostaticchargeofgarmentmaterials, i.e.thechargedecay.Inbothcases,chargeismonitoredbyobservationoftheelectrostaticfielditgeneratesand thisisdoneusingnoncontactingfieldmeasuringins

20、truments.Theprincipaldifferencebetweenthemethodsisthe techniqueusedtogeneratetheelectrostaticcharge.Triboelectricchargingreliesonthechargegeneratedastwo materialscomeintocontact,rubtogetherandsubsequentlyseparate.Inductioncharginginvolvesanelectrode placedbeneaththetestsurfaceandisraisedtoadefinedpo

31、 7 4.2.2Equipment 4.2.2.1General ThetestapparatusisshowninFigure1. 4.2.2.2 Cylindricalrods Tworodsoflength(100 5)mmwithacircularcrosssectionofdiameter(15,0 0,5)mmareused.Therodsare attachedtoametalsliderinaparallelfashionwithoutfreedomofrotationsuchthatthebottomofthefirstrodis horizontallyinlinewith

32、thetopofthesecondrodandwithadistanceof(15 1)mmbetweentheirnearestedges (seeFigure1). Twopairsofrodsarerequired,onepairmadefromhighdensitypolyethylene(HDPE)andonepairmadefrom aluminium.Thefixtureusedtoattachtherodstotheslidershallallowrodstobeinterchanged. 35、reelyunderitsownweight,or isdrivendowntheguiderail(s)byasuitablemotor.Intheformercase,asuitableclampisrequiredtolockthe sliderinthestartpositionpriortoeachmeasurement.Theslider,guiderail(s)andsupportframeworkshallbeof anydesignthatsatisfiestherequirementofallowingthecylindricalrodstomovedownataveloc

36、ityof (0,20 0,02)m/sinaverticaldirectionwithoutsignificanttwistingorrotation.Allmetalworkshallbeconnectedto earth. 4.2.2.4 Specimenclampandtensioningdevice Theupperedgeofthespecimenisclampedtoarigidstructureandistensionedbyattachingafreehangingclamp tothebottomedge.Thefreehangingclampshallbesuchthat

37、theloadevenlyappliedtothefullwidthofthe specimen.Thefixedclampshallbemetalandshallbeconnectedtoearth.Theloadappliedtothetestspecimen bythebottomclampshallbe(1,30 0,05)N.Incaseelongationofthetestspecimenislargerthan5%thenaload of(0,2 0,05)Nshallbeused. 4.2.2.5Fieldmeter Anelectrostaticfieldmetermeeti
