EXAMPLE 1 200 mm S.R.W. 900 mm S.R.H.The specified size is a test size only. It does not relate to the maximum size
、to which a window may be fabricated. For instances where an arm-balancing system is available in a range of sizes to suit differing window sizes it shall be tested at the size which gives the most severe impact on the hardware, as recommended by the hardware manufacturer. This size is then recorded

、2 Durability test The test specified in 7.2 shall be used to ensure the hardware is capable of continued operation after cycling in accordance with grades specified in 7.2, with regard given to normal maintenance. On completion of the durability test in accordance with 7.2. Arm-balancing system shal
、l continue to function normally. 5.3 Static load test The test specified in 7.3 shall be used to ensure the mechanical strength of the hardware is appropriate for its intended use. On completion of the static load test in accordance with 7.3. Arm-balancing system shall continue to function normally.
、 BS EN 13126-10:2008EN 13126-10:2008 (E) 8 Maximum opening distance, measured between the free edge of the sash and the frame, shall not vary by more than 5 mm. 6 Test equipment The arm-balancing system shall be installed in the test specimen for testing as in Clause 6 of EN 13126-1:2006, and in acc
、ordance with the manufacturers fixing instructions. NOTE The hardware manufacturer should provide test specimens for the testing institute. A drawing of the profile cross-section with relevant information should be enclosed in the test application, which also contains the necessary hardware installa
、tion information for the windows. The test shall be conducted on a test rig which corresponds in function and shape to the window for which the hardware was intended. The hardware tested shall conform to the manufacturers recommendation for size and mass of the test specimen. 7 Test methods 7.1 Samp
、les Three samples shall be tested in accordance with this European Standard. sample A performance tests; sample B corrosion test; sample C retained for reference control. NOTE 1 Sample B should only be necessary if no test report can be supplied by the manufacturer regarding the testing of the hardw
、are component or set in accordance with EN 1670. NOTE 2 Sample C should be retained by the test institute for the duration of the validity of the test report. NOTE 3 All window fastening devices should not be engaged when measuring the clearance gap between sash and frame. 7.2 Durability test proced
、ure Any restrictor shall be disabled before any testing commences. Cycle the window in accordance with one of the following grades at the rate of 250250+cycles/h. grade 3: 10 000 cycles (+ 1 %) cycles; grade 4: 15 000 cycles (+ 1 %) cycles; grade 5: 25 000 cycles (+ 1 %) cycles. NOTE 1 Opening veloc
、ity is determined by the sash size and weight. Closing velocity should not exceed the opening velocity. Cycle the sash, in accordance with Clause 8 of EN 13126-1:2006, from the fully closed position to the fully open position. BS EN 13126-10:2008EN 13126-10:2008 (E) 9 NOTE 2 All moving parts requiri
、ng lubrication may be lubricated unless the hardware is claimed to be maintenance free in accordance with hardware manufacturers instructions. Return the window to the closed position. The hardware shall conform to the acceptance criteria of 8.4 of EN 13126-1:2006 and 5.2 of this European Standard.
、7.3 Static load test procedure Measure and record the clearance gap between the sash and frame at the opening edge of the window. Measurements shall be taken at two points; at each corner of the sash no more than 50 mm from each side and along the opening edge (see Figure A.1). Open the sash to its
、maximum open position. Secure the sash in this position preventing further sash movement (see Figure A.2). Apply a force perpendicular to the sash of 500 N 250+N in increments of 100 N 250+N at the centre of the bottom of the sash. Maintain force of 500 N for 60 s 50+s. Return the window to the clos
、ed position. Measure and record the clearance gap between the sash and the frame at the opening edge of the window. Measurements shall be taken at the same position as used prior to the test commencing. The hardware shall conform to the acceptance criteria of 8.4 of EN 13126-1:2006 and 5.3 of this E
、uropean Standard. 7.4 Corrosion resistance NOTE 1 A test should only be necessary if no test report can be supplied by the manufacturer in accordance with EN 1670. All corrosion tests shall be on original new samples. For Zinc galvanized surfaces on iron or steel the specified thickness of 12 (class
、 3) or 16 (class 4) is not necessary if other surface protection methods are used to conform to the requirements (minimum time to formation of white corrosion products) of ISO 4520: 1981. (= micrometre) Unless a test report can be provided by the manufacturer the hardware shall be tested in accordan
、ce with EN 1670. NOTE 2 The evaluation of the corrosion resistance is limited to the essential areas (as a rule, the visible surfaces of the installed hardware). Exempt from the corrosion resistance evaluation are: rivet locations; locations of later processing (for example: cleaved surfaces that re
、sult from cropping the hardware components, millings); non surface-treated parts/surfaces, provided they are not in the visible vicinity of the hardware (for example: screw guide-holes made of zinc die-cast); welding joints and their immediate surroundings.
