20、ctionagainstambientconditionsofwind,waterandcold,butitshouldalsoprovidesomeprotectionfrominjury intheeventofanaccident.Itisintendednottohinderariderfromcontrollinghismachine.Itshouldbeofan acceptableappearancetothewearer. ThisEuropeanStandardisprimarilyconcernedwiththeprotectionprovidedbyclothingaga
21、instinjuryinaccidents. Thehazardstowhichmotorcyclistsareexposedvarywidelydependingonthephysicalenvironmentsuchasthe natureoftheroadtrackormountainside,theclimaticenvironment,thetrafficenvironment,thespeedatwhichthe motorcycleisbeingriddenandtheskilloftherider.Thenumberofcombinationsofpossiblehazards

Totalclothingperformanceagainsteveryidentifiedhazardcouldberequiredforeachcombination.Thiswouldbe impracticablycomplicated.Thereforethisstandardcontainstherequirementsforsinglecharacteristicsofsingle itemsofclothingorsimplecombinationsofgarments. Markonthetestspecimenthesixrequiredimpactpoints;includinganypointsinthetestarealikelytoprovidethe lowestlevelofprotection. Storethetestspecimenan
