Together with BS EN 14175-1:2003, BS EN 14175-3:2003, BS EN 14175-4:2004, DD CEN/TS 14175-5:

3、2006, BS EN 14175-6:2006, BS EN 14175-7:2012, it supersedes BS 7258-1:1994, BS 7258-2:1994, BS 7258-3:1994 and BS 7258-4:1994 which are withdrawn.The UK committee advises that prior to purchasing a fume cupboard, a risk assessment should be performed to assess the risks associated with the substance

4、s that are to be manipulated. This would ensure that the fume cupboard is suitable for its intended purpose and that current exposure limits for toxic substances are not exceeded. It is suggested, therefore, that users may need to draw up a specification appropriate to their particular requirements,

5、 within the overall permissible limits of this standard and the information on installation included in the National Annex. For users with little experience of purchasing fume cupboards, it may be helpful for trade associations, employers bodies or other organizations associated with a particular ac

6、tivity to give guidance on a suitable specification. An example would be Building Bulletin 88 from the Architects b) testing on-sitein accordance with the requirements given in thispart 2 and the test methods given in part 4 ofthis European Standard. This on-site testing investigates an individual f

7、ume cupboard in its particularenvironment and does not constitute a type test. The results cannot be tra nsferred to further production of the design or model of the fume cupboard concerned.1 ScopeThispart 2 of EN 14175 specifies safetyand performance requirements and objectives for general purpose

8、fumecupboards. In addition, dimensions and marking of general purpose fume cupboards are specified as well asrequirements on the product manual to be supplied with fume cupboards.Recommendations on the evaluationofconformity of general purpose fume cupboards with the requirements ofthis part 2 of EN

9、 14175 are given in the informative annex A.For terms and definitionsof fume cupboards EN 14175-1 applies. For type testing offumecupboardsprEN14175-3 applies. For microbiological safety cabinets EN 12469 applies.This part of EN 14175 does not address recirculatory filtration fume cupboards or fume

10、cupboardsforcarrying outwork on radioactive materials. For special purpose fume cupboards other requirementsmay apply.2 Normative referencesThis European Standardincorporates by dated or undated reference, provisions from other publications. 15、s and definitionsFor the purposesof this part 2 of EN 14175, the terms and definitions given in EN 14175-1:2003 apply.4 Dimensions4.1 Overall width of fume cupboardThe overall width offumecupboards shall be a multiple of 100 mm with preferable dimensions of 1200 mm and1500 mm.4.2 Overall depth of fu

16、me cupboardThe overall depth of fume cupboards shall be between 600 mm and 1200 mm.4.3 Height ofwork surfaceThe height ofthe work surface offume cupboards shall not exceed ( 500900 G01 )mm with preferable heights of 0 mm,500 mm, 720 mm and 900 mm with a tolerance of + 50 mm.4.4 Dimensions for custom

17、ized fume cupboardsOtherdimensionsthanthosegiven in 4.1 to 4.3 maybe agreed between customer and manufacturer. Tolerancesshall be specified by the manufacturer.5 Basic safety and performance objectivesFume cupboards shall be designed such thatG01 hazardous concentrations or quantities of airborne co

18、ntaminants are prevented from escaping from thefume cupboard into the room;G01 fumes are removed efficiently to reduce the susceptibility toan explosive orhazardousatmosphere insidethe workspace;G01 the useris protected bya front sash against splashes of substances and flying particles.EN 14175-2:20

19、03 (E)66 Materials6.1General requirementsFume cupboards shall be made of materials which withstand the anticipated mechanical, chemical and thermalstresses during expected use and shall not be easily combustible.The materials of construction of those parts of the fume cupboard (excluding services) t

20、hat are likelyto comeintocontact with the fumes shall be selected to suit the natureof the process carried outwithin the fume cupboard.6.2 GlasscomponentsAny glass component G02 0,1 mG01 and anypart of which is less than 900 mm above the floor shall comply with EN12600:2002,type 2B ortype 2C.6.3 Sas

21、hThe sash shall be transparent. It shall be made from materials to give optimal physical protection from theaccidental emission of substances.Toughened or laminated glass in accordance withEN12600, type 2B or type 2C or in accordance with EN ISO12543-1 or suitable plastics materials shall be used fo

22、r the sash between the operator and the workspace.7 Basic safetyrequirements7.1General requirementsFume cupboards shall complywith relevant safety requirements specified in EN 13150:2001, clause5,and with thefollowing clausesof this European Standard.7.2 Construction7.2.1 WorkspaceThe workspace of a

23、 fume cupboardshall be enclosed by sidewalls, rear wall, front wall with sash, top wallandworksurface. There shall be no sashesin side walls to the room. Openingsand ducts in sidewalls between fumecupboards shall be closable.7.2.2 Work surfaceThe work surface of bench type and lowlevel fume cupboard

24、s shall be flat with a raised edge at the front.Preferably,the raised edge shouldsurround the work surface at all sides. If a spillage tray is fitted, provision shallbe made forspillage to pass down to, and be contained by, the spillage trayunderneath. The spillage tray shall beventilated. Gapsat th

25、e side of the work surface shall be provided to allow spilt liquid to drain into the spillage trayrapidly.The worksurface shall carrya minimum load of 2000 N applied on an area of 120 mmx 120 mm without damageor deformation. The work surface of walk-in fume cupboards may be integrated in the floor o

26、f the room.7.2.3 BafflesBafflesshall be constructed in sucha way asto be easily cleaned and maintained. It shall not be possible to altertheir position fromthe original design positions.EN 14175-2:2003 (E)77.2.4 Pressure reliefIf a pressure relief for the case of an explosion in the workspace is req

27、uired, ameans of effectivelyrelieving apressure wave shall be provided. The fume cupboard shall be designed suchthat the pressure relief cannot be adanger for the operating personnel orany other person in the fume cupboards surrounding.7.2.5 Maintenance accessProvision shall be made for safe and rea

28、sonably convenient access to all mechanical and electrical equipmentprovided as part of the fume cupboard .7.2.6 BaseThe base of the fume cupboard shall carry the fume cupboard and the minimum surface load in accordance with7.2.2without deformation orunsteadiness.7.3 Sash7.3.1Operational sashopening

29、The operational sashopening shall be variable in the direction ofthesashmovement. Itsmaximumposition shouldpreferablybe500 mmin the direction of sash movement and shall not exceed 600 mm. This dimension shall beclearly marked on the fume cupboard. No limits are specified forwa lk-in and low level fu

30、me cupboards.7.3.2 Sash stopForvertical sash(es), some form of stop shall be incorporated to prevent the sash being opened more than themaximum operational sash opening. It shall not be possible to override the stop more thanthe maximumoperational sash opening without a deliberate act on the part of

31、 the operator. The design of the sash stopshallensure that the sash stop is automatically reset when the sash is returned to a position less than the maximumoperational sash opening.An audible and visual sash alarm should also be incorporated to indicate to the operator that the sash isopened tomore

32、 than the maximum operational sashopening. The audible alarmmaybe silenced once alarmed.7.3.3 Sash suspensionWhen tested in accordance with prEN 14175-3:2003, 6.1, a vertical sash shall be such that it cannot fallwhen onesuspension device fails. Closing and opening the sash shall not present a dange

33、r of injury. The sash shall becapable of being stopped in any position.Sash suspension devices shall either not be exposed to the workspace atmosphere orotherwise be appropriatelyprotected against corrosive atmospheres.7.3.4 Sash displacement forceWhen measured in accordancewith prEN 14175-3:2003, 6

34、.2, the force necessary to move a single sash shall be amaximum of 30 N or a maximum of 50 N formultiple sashesIf the fume cupboard is provided with a powered sash, the automatic movement shall be capable ofbeingoverridden bymanualinteraction. It should have a detection deviceto stop movement if an

35、obstruction occurs. Thisobstruction maybe transparent. The speed for automaticmovement shall not exceed 0,5 m/s.Powered sash(es)shallcomply with EN 292-1 and EN 292-2.7.3.5 Protection against splashesThe sashshall be designed insuchaway as to minimise danger from splashes of substances or flying par

36、ticleswhen the sash is closed to its minimum position. Spilled liquids dropping from the sashshould beprevented fromescaping outside the workspace.EN 14175-2:2003 (E)87.3.6 Sash handleThe sizeand position of the sash handle(s) shall not be a hazard to the operator by obstructing vision or byrestrict

37、ing the workspace availa ble.8 Airflow8.1 Threshold valuesThreshold values rather than those given in other clauses of this European standard maybe specified in nationalstandards or regulations, e. g. for the containment in terms of SF6 concentration.8.2Air flowindicatorPrior to use of the fume cupb

38、oard an air flowindicator shall beincorporated to show unambiguouslythe correctfunctioning of the fume cupboards air flow. In addition, means should be provided to easily check or self-check thecorrect functioning of the air flow indicator.The airflowindicatorshall be provided to monitor the amount

39、of the extract air and, if necessary, direct make-up airand auxiliary air input necessary for correct functioning of the fume cupboardsairflow, asestablished inthe typetest results.It shall incorporate audible and visual alarms to warn the operator of incorrect operation of the fume cupboard. Theaud

40、ible alarmmay be silenced once alarmed.9 Services9.1 OutletsThe outlets shall be located in the workspace of the fume cupboard and should beeasilyaccessible.The operatingdevices for all the services shall be located on the outer surface of the fume cupboard. The operatingdeviceshallbe unambiguouslya

41、ssociatedwith its outlet, and positioned in such a wa yas to minimise interference with airflow.Operating devices for fuel gases shall be protected against accidental opening.NOTE Fuel gases include natural gas, propane, butane or mixtures thereof. Other gases, such as acetylene or hydrogen,are not

42、included (see prEN 14056).9.2 DrainageEach drainage item (funnel, tray, duct etc.) shall be connected to its own siphon. If several drainage componentsofa fumecupboardare connected byacommon drain pipe, they may be fitted with one common siphon. Each sinkbowl however shall always have its own siphon

43、. If the drainage system is an integral part of the fumecupboard, itshall be fitted with a cleaning opening and all parts shall be accessible.9.3 Electrical socketsWheneverpossible electricalsocketsshould be located on the outer surface of the fume cupboard and not withinthe workspace. If theyare lo

44、cated outside on a low level fascia, below the work surface, they shall be protectedagainst liquid spillage and shall have a minimum protection level of IP44 in accordance with EN 60529.If the location of the electrical sockets within the workspace isunavoidable, theyshall have a minimum protectionl

45、evel of IP44 and shall be unambiguously and separately switched from outside the workspace. In case ofmultisocket blocks, the blocksmaybe unambigously and seperately switched from outside the workspace.EN 14175-2:2003 (E)99.4 LightingThe illuminanceat the work surface shall be measured and reported

46、in accordance with prEN 14175-3:2003,clause 9.10 Product manualProduct information shall be enclosed fo r the fume cupboard supplied which covers at least the following items:a) description ofmain construction parts;b) installation instructions;c) general operating and safety instructions;d) mainten

47、ance andcleaning instructions;e) spare part list;f) type test report.11 Marking and labellingThe front wall shall be marked, preferably on the sash, with a sign“Keep sashclosed wheneverpossible“. In thecase of combination sashes an additional sign “Do not operate horizontal and vertical sash at the

48、same time“shallbe marked. Thismarking shall be in the language of the customers choice.A durable identification plate shall be fitted marked witha) the name and/or trade mark of the manufacturer and/or supplier;b) the type designation including the year of production.The manufacturermay indicate the

49、 conformityof the fume cupboard with this part 2 ofEN 14175 (see annexA)bythe inscription “EN 14175-2“.The operating devicesof cocks and valves shall be colour coded andmarked correspondingtothematerial flowingthrough the device according to EN 13792.All marking on the sash shall not significantly restrict the visibility through the sash.EN 14175-2:2003 (E)10Annex A(informative)Conformity evaluationA.1 GeneralForconformity evaluation, a type test shall be carried out on one example of a production model of the fumecupboard. The typetestshall be carried out on the fume cupboard installed
