16、epreparationofadefinitiveterminologyisdifficultinanyfieldofactivitybutforpackagingthetaskhasbeen mademorecomplexbydevelopments,inEurope,inthefieldofpackagingandtheenvironment.Thesehaveledto aEuropeanCommunityDirectiveonPackagingandPackagingWaste(94/62/EC)whichitselfhasintroducedterms anddefinitionst

17、hatarenotalwaysinlinewiththoseincommonuse.Thatdirectivecoversallpackagingplacedon theMarketoftheEuropeanUnion,whereveritisproducedorusedandallpackagingwastearising.InannexIIit listsessentialrequirementsrelatingtothemanufactureandcompositionofpackagingaswellasthosespecificto itsreuseandrecovery(wheth

18、erasmaterials,intheformofenergyorthroughbiodegradationincluding composting).ItdefinestwelvebasictermsthatareemployedintheDirective. Therefore,inadditiontoestablishingalistofbasictermsanddefinitionsthatassistsinapplyingawholerangeof packagingstandards,thisEuropeanStandardseekstoidentifyanyvariationan

19、dclarifythetwelvebasictermsof theDirective. InanypanEuropeandocumentlanguagedifferencecan,inextremecases,impedeconceptualunderstanding. ThisEuropeanStandardendeavourstotakeaccountofsituationswheredirect,wordforword,translationofaterm originatedinoneofthethreeofficialCENlanguagesmaynotresultintheconv

20、eyingofasimilarconceptinoneor bothoftheothers.TheworkinglanguageusedinthedevelopmentofthisstandardwasEnglishandtheterms includedwereidentifiedanddefinedinthatlanguagebeforebeingtranslatedintoFrenchandGerman.Toassist understanding,asectioncontainingotherlanguageequivalents,fortermswheresuchconceptual

21、blurringis believedtobeasignificantpossibility,isincludedasannexB. Itisenvisagedthat,whereverpracticableandappropriate,thetermsincorporatedinthisEuropeanStandardwillbe employedintheapplicationoftheCENPackagingStandards.Intheeventthatthepreciseusageinaparticular standarddiffersfromthatenvisagedanddef

22、inedinthisstandard,itisincumbentuponthosedraftingthatother standardtoidentifyanddefinetheirrequiredusage.Indefault,thetermsanddefinitionsincorporatedinthis EuropeanStandardoughttoapply.EN14182:2002(E) 5 1Scope ThisEuropeanStandardprovidesaglossaryofpreferredtermsapplicabletoPackaginggenerally,each a

23、ccompaniedbyitsdefinition.AnnexA(informative)identifiesandexplainstwelvefundamentalpackagingterms employedintheframingoftheEuropeanCommunityDirectiverelatingtopackagingandpackagingwasteand whichwerealsodefinedwithinthatdirective.ItalsoincludesatermfromtheCommissionDecisiononthe IdentificationSystemf

A.2 Thetwelve (Directivedefined) terms A.2.1 packagingshallmeanallproductsmadeofanymaterialsofanynaturetobeusedf

33、orthecontainment, protection,handling,deliveryandpresentationofgoods,fromrawmaterialtoprocessedgoods,fromtheproducer totheuserortheconsumer.Nonreturnableitemsusedforthesamepurposeshallalsobeconsideredtoconstitute packaging: packagingconsistsonlyof: 1a) salespackagingorprimarypackaging i.e.packagingc

34、onceivedsoastoconstituteasalesunittothefinal userorconsumeratthepointofpurchase; 1b) groupedpackagingorsecondarypackaging i.e.conceivedsoastoconstitute,atthepointofpurchase,a groupingofacertainnumberofsalesunitswhetherthelatteraresoldassuchtothefinaluserorconsumeror whetheritservesonlyasameanstorepl
