Thistestisintendedasasimplemethodofdeterminingtheupperusetemperatureofceramiccomponentsina selfloadedcondition.Thecriterionisanupperlimitofflexuraldistortion.Thetestissuitableforuseonfurnace constructionmaterialsandonanyceramicmaterials,fromwhichcomponentsaresubjectedtofurtherprocess
24、ingat hightemperatures. 5Apparatus 5.1 Measurementapparatus ,ofthetypeshowninFigure1.Thedistancebetweentheknifeedgesupportsshall be160mm 0,5mm.Thegaugeformeasuringdeformation(sagorbow)shallbeaccurateto0,01mm. NOTE ThedialgaugeshowninFigure1isanexampleonly. 5.2 Steelbar,ofdimensionsasshowninFigure 2,
25、withthetopsurfaceflatto 0,01mm and parallel, to 0,01mm,totheundersurfacesintheregionsofreducedthicknesses. 5.3 Laboratoryfurnace,capableofachieving1600C,andofholdingthetemperatureuniformlyoverthearea occupiedbythetestpieces(seeFigure3)towithin 5C.Acontrolledatmosphere,otherthanair,maybeusedif requir
26、ed.Thisshallbereported(seeclause10).EN8202:2003(E) 5 5.4 Tworefractorysupports ,withsquarecrosssectionofapproximately12mm(seeFigure3),madeofmaterial whichiscompatiblewiththetestmaterialatthetesttemperature.Thesupportsshallbeinspectedaftereachfiring andwherethereisevidenceofreactionwiththetestpieces,
27、thesupportsshallbereplaced. 5.5 Thermocouples(two ),onetocontrolthefurnaceandonetomeasurethetemperatureofthetestpieces.The thermocouplesshallbeeithertypeR,typeSortypeBinaccordancewithEN605841. 6 Testpieces MaterialsfortestingshallbeselectedinaccordancewiththeguidancegiveninENV1006.Testpiecesshallbe
28、rectangularbars,withinthefollowingrangeofdimensions: a) length:173mmto177mm; b) width:11,5mmto12,5mm; c) thickness:3,9mmto4,1mm. Thetestpiecesshallbegroundflatandparallelsothatthethicknesstoleranceofasetoftestpiecesshallbe 0,02mm. NOTE1 Asetisthenumberoftestpieceswhicharerequiredforthedeterminationo
29、fthetemperatureofcommencementof selfloadeddeformation. Twopiecesarerequiredforeachdeterminationatasingletemperature.Testpiecesmaybeeithercutfromfired ceramicproductsormaybepreparedespeciallyforthismethodoftest. NOTE2 Inthelattercasetheyshouldbefiredbeforetestinginamannercomparabletoproductionfiring.
30、 7Procedure 1.1 Settingupofmeasurementgauge Checkthatthemeasurementgauge(see5.1)probeispositionedatthemidpointbetweenthetwoknifeedges,as showninFigure1.Placethesteelbar(see5.2)ontheknifeedgesandadjustthegaugetoreadzero. 7.2 Markingofthetestpieces Marktheupperfaceofoneendofthetestpiecewithrefractoryp
31、aint,asthereferenceend.Drawapencilline 8mmfromthisreferenceend,acrossthetopsurfaceofthetestpiece,toactasareferencemarkertobealigned withtheknifeedgeofthereferencegauge(see7.3).Repeattheaboveprocedureforthesecondtestpiece. 7.3 Measurementoftestpiecesbeforeheattreatment Placethetestbarinthegauge,refer
32、encefaceuppermostsothatthelineacrossthewidthofthetopsurface (see7.2)liesoveraknifeedge.Recordtheinitialgaugereading( M 1 )tothenearest0,01mmandwhetheritis positiveornegative.Repeatforthesecondtestpiecetobeincludedintheheattreatment(see7.4). 7.4 Heattreatmentoftestpieces Supportthetwotestpieces,appro
33、ximately6mmapart,onthetwosquarecrosssectionrefractorysupports(see 5.4),whicharepositioned160mm 0,5mmapartonarefractorybatt(seeFigure3).Placethetestpiecessothat thepencillinesmarkedacrossthewidthofthetestpiecesarefacingupwardsandlieovertheinsideedgeofoneof thesquarecrosssectionsupports(seeFigure3).Pl
34、acetherefractorybattwiththetestpiecesinthefurnaceand positionthemeasuringthermocouple(see5.5)adjacenttothetestpieces.Raisethetemperatureofthetestpieces inthefurnaceby300C/htothetesttemperaturewithoutexceedingit,andthenmaintainthattemperaturefor1h. Thedeformationshallbeexpressedinmillimetresandthenumericalmeanofthedeformationofbothtestbars subj

Reportthedeformationtothenearest0,01mmandthetesttemperaturestothenearest5C. 8 Determinationofthetemperatureofcommencementofselfloadeddeformation 8.1 Determination 8.1.1 Wheredeformationdoesnotoccuratthefirsttesttemperature,repeatthetestdescrib

43、ndreportedinthetestreport(see10i).Residualstressreliefmay showvariablepositiveornegativeapparentdeformation.Ifthisissuspected,ensuresufficienttestingisundertaken todistinguishthecorrectonsetofpermanentplasticdeformation. 10 Testreport TheresultsshallbereportedinaccordancewithENISO/IEC17025,andthetestreportshallincludethefollowing information: a) nameandaddressofthe
