13、 15154-1:2006) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC332 “Laboratory equipment”, the secretariat of which isheld by DIN. 17、E)4 Introduction Plumbed-in body showersare designed and intended to be installed in close range of persons working in apotentially hazardous area. The main purpose of these devices is to immediately deliver a flushing fluid in asufficient volume to extinguish flames and/or to flush the body followi

18、ng exposure to injurious substances orheat. With this accomplished the injured person can proceed to medical care. BS EN 15154-1:2006EN 15154-1:2006 (E)4 EN 15154-1:2006 (E)5 1 Scope This document is a product specification, giving performance requirements for emergency safety body showers connected

19、 to the water supply. It is applicable to plumbed-in body showers only, located in laboratoryfacilities. It is not applicable to emergency safety showers used on industrial sites or in other such areas. Requirements are given inrespect of the performance, installation, adjustment and marking of the

20、showers aswell as installation, operation and maintenance instructions to be given by the manufacturer.NOTE Attention is drawn to national regulations which may apply in respect of the installation and use of emergencysafety showers. 2 NormativereferencesThe following referenced documents are indisp

23、nguish flames and to sufficientlywashaway contaminants or to dilute them, rendering them harmless3.2 plumbed-in body showeremergency safety shower that is permanently connected to a continuous water supply and designed to deliverwater sufficient to flush the whole body4 Performance4.1 Flow rate of w

24、aterThe water supplied by thebody shower shall be of constant flow rate in accordance with national regulationsat a flow pressure to be specified by the manufacturer. The flow pressure shall be specified and measuredwhere the shower is connected to the water system. The body shower shall be capable

25、of delivering thissupply for a minimum of 15 minutes. NOTE When no national or local regulations apply, a constant flow rate of min. 60 l/min is suitable.4.2 Water distribution The water distribution of the emergency body shower shall be measured by the following type testprocedure. As shown in Figu

26、re 1, at a distance 700 mm belowthe shower head, (50 10) % of the volume of waterdelivered shall fall in a circle with a radius of 200 mm; the water level in the individual compartments in thiscircle shall not deviate by more than 30 % from the mean value.BS EN 15154-1:2006EN 15154-1:2006 (E)5 EN 15

27、154-1:2006 (E)6 At this measuring level, the area reached by a minimum of 95 % of the water shall be limited to a circle with aradius of 400 mm. The velocity of the water spray shall be lowenough to be non-injurious to the user. NOTE A hand held shower with flexible hose mounted on the body shower c

28、an be incorporated. 29、struction of the shower shall not affect the water qualityor contaminate the watersupply.BS EN 15154-1:2006EN 15154-1:2006 (E)6 EN 15154-1:2006 (E)7 4.4 Water temperature Information onwater temperature is given in Annex A (informative).5 Design requirements for installation 5.1 InstallationheightTh

30、e shower head shall be designed to be installed so that its lower edge is (2200 100) mm above the levelon which the user stands. 5.2 Free spaceThe free space between the centre line of the shower head and the nearest obstruction (wall, vertical supplytube or similar) shall be a circle with a minimum

31、 radius of 400 mm. Only the valve control element and/or the eyewash station and/or the hand held shower on a combinationshower shall project into this space by a maximum of 200 mm. Other parts or components shall not projectinto this space. 6 Valve For manual operation, the valve shall be opened in

32、 a single operation by turning or moving a valve actuator to maximum 90 or maximum 200 mm stroke. The maximumforce for the operation shall be 100 N or the maximum torque 7 Nm. By using this force/torque, the valve shall be fully open within 1 s.Also for automatic operation, the valve shall be fully

33、open within 1 s.The valve shall not close automatically once it has been opened. The direction of operating the valve actuatorshall be clearly visible and unmistakable. The valve actuator shall be large enough to be easilylocated and operated by the user evenwhenwearing protective gloves, with a max

34、imum sizein accordance with EN 420. The valve actuator shall be positioned between floor level and a maximum of 1 750 mm above that level. NOTE Attention is drawn to national regulations in some European countries, e. g. Sweden, requesting the actuatorto be operable at floor level. 7 Shower head It

35、shall only bepossible to make adjustments with a tool to the direction of sprayor the water distribution ofashower head. The shower head shall be self-draining between the valve and the outlet. The shower head shall beremovable for maintenance but onlybyuse of a tool. 8 Manufacturers informationThe

36、manufacturer shall supply with the emergency bodyshowerinformation on installation, operation andmaintenance as well as the method and frequencyof routine testing. 37、5154-1:2006 (E)7 EN 15154-1:2006 (E)8 9 MarkingThe shower shall be clearly and permanently marked showing requirements for minimum and maximumflow pressure and the maximum static pressure.Marking shall be performed by the manufacturer and shall showthe name of the manufacturer and the model/article

38、number. In addition, a safety sign in accordance with ISO 3864-1 displayable near the shower shall be supplied with each emergencybody shower. BS EN 15154-1:2006EN 15154-1:2006 (E)8 EN 15154-1:2006 (E)9 Annex A(informative)Water temperatureContinuous and timelyirrigation of affected tissues for the

39、recommended irrigation period are the principal factors in providing first aid treatment. Providing waterat temperatures conducive to use for the recommended irrigation period is considered an integral part of providing suitable facilities. Medical recommendations suggest water at tepid temperatures

40、 be delivered to affected chemicallyinjured tissue. Temperatures in anexcess of 37 C have proven to be harmful to the eyes and can enhance chemical interaction with the eyesand skin. While cold water temperatures provide immediate cooling after burns or chemical contact, prolonged exposureto cold wa

41、ter affects the ability to maintain adequate body temperature and can result in the premature cessation of first aid treatment. Recent information indicates that a temperature of 15 C is suitable for the lowerparameter for tepid water without causing hypothermia to the equipment user. BS EN 15154-1:

42、2006EN 15154-1:2006 (E)9 BS EN 15154-1:20061National Annex NA (informative)Guidance on UK legislation concerning water qualityNA.1 IntroductionThis National Annex is purely informative. This National Annex is based on the Water Management Society (WMS) working partys, Managing the Risk of Legionnair

43、es Disease in Emergency Safety Showers, Eyebaths and Facewash Fountains 1 and the Department of Healths, Water sources and potential Pseudomonas aeruginosa contamination of taps and water systems 2, and aims to summarize certain key issues. This National Annex also draws attention to general recomme

44、ndations within the UK, and the following underlying principles of water quality: Assessing the risk; Taking the appropriate measures.Personnel who have an emergency shower within their workplace are advised to refer to the full guidelines for further information.This guidance only covers water qual

45、ity for emergency safety showers and the creation of a Water Safety Plan (WSP).NA.2 System DesignWhen designing safety shower systems where a dedicated cistern is used to provide the required volume and flow water to conform to the recommendations in this standard, the following criteria should be a

46、pplied:1. For installations, attention is drawn to the Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations 2010 3;2. The cistern should be installed to allow easy access for cleaning, providing adequate head room for access to mechanical cleaning equipment;3. The cistern should be fitted with a separate drain

47、valve at the lowest point to facilitate complete drainage of the unit, the flushing out of sediments and the cleaning/disinfection of chemical residues;4. The primary outlet to the shower feed should be designed and installed to maximize the flushing benefit of regular testing and purging operations;5. Provision should be made for secondary draw off from the storage cistern to ensure a flow of water through the tank.The ov
