20、 detail specification, is used for testing connectors within the scope of technical committee 48. It may also be used for similar devices when specified in a detail specification. The object of this standard is to detail a standard method to assess the ability of the insulation of pre-insulated crim

23、f of pre-insulated crimp barrels 3 Preparation of the specimen The specimen shall consist of a crimp contact or a terminal end having a pre-insulated crimp barrel and the appropriate cable/wire and shall be prepared in accordance with the detail specification. The cable or wire, stripped as specifie
24、d, shall be fitted to the crimp barrel and then crimped in the normal manner. The specimen shall be visually examined with a suitable magnification (e.g. 2 X to 4 X) in accordance with IEC 60512-1-1, test 1a to ensure that the insulation of the crimped barrel is free of splits or cuts which would re
25、nder the test invalid. 4 Test method 4.1 Conditioning The specimen shall be immersed for 20 h (unless otherwise specified in the detail specification) in the fluid and at the temperature specified in the detail specification. Two specimens shall be immersed in each fluid. No specimen shall be subjec
26、ted to more than one fluid. BS EN 60512-19-1:201060512-19-1 IEC:2010 5 4.2 Recovery After removal from the fluid, the specimen shall be allowed to recover for 1 h under standard atmospheric conditions, after which any remaining fluid shall be wiped away. 5 Final measurements 5.1 Visual examination T
27、he specimen shall be visually examined with a suitable magnification (e.g. 2 X to 4 X) in accordance with IEC 60512-1-1, test 1a. 5.2 Voltage proof After the visual examination, the specimen shall be prepared and then submitted to the voltage proof test as detailed in IEC 60512-4-3, test 4c. 28、of voltage shall be as specified in the detail specification. 6 Requirements 6.1 Visual examination There shall be no signs of splitting or other deterioration which would impair use. Discolouration of the insulation is permitted. 6.2 Voltage proof There shall be no breakdown or flashover. 6.3 Detai
29、ls to be specified When this test is required by the detail specification, the following details shall be specified: a) preparation of the specimen; b) cable or wire to be used; c) type and die setting of crimping tool; d) fluid and temperature; e) immersion time if other than 20 h; f) proof voltage
