17、-carrying capacity tests - Test 5a: Temperature rise 1 General 1.1 Scope and object This part of IEC 60512, when required by the detail specification, is used for testing electromechanical components within the scope of IEC technical committee 48. This test may also be used for similar devices when
18、specified in a detail specification. The object of this test is to detail a standard test method to assess the ability of a component to carry its specified current, at room temperature, without exceeding a specified temperature rise. 1.2 Normative references The following normative documents contai

The specimens are to be wired with a minimum length of wire, as specified in table 1, and mounted,
22、as specified in the detail specificat ion. The manufacturers recommended, or industry standards, wiring method and tooling shall be used, unless otherwise stated in the detail specification. The specimens shall be fitted with a temperature-sensing device, whose thermal mass shall not significantly a
23、ffect the temperature measurement. This temperature-sensing device shall be mounted as near as practicable to the hottest part of the contact system, unless otherwise specified. A non-contact temperature measurement device may be used. NOTE be achieved either by the use of an enclosure or by ensurin
24、g that the laboratory is draught-free. If d.c. current is used, avoid voltage bias influence on thermocouple by executing the test with reverse current Care must be taken to protect the specimen under test from draughts or other artificial cooling. 26、cuits, the characteristics of these should be given in the detail specification. 3 Test method The specified test current shall be applied simultaneously to all contacts of the specimen, unless otherwise specified in the detail specification. The current shall be maintained until thermal stability i
27、s achieved. This is defined as when three consecutive measurements of temperature rise, taken at 5 min intervals, do not differ by more than 2 K. The current shall be maintained for a period of 1 h after stability is reached. The ambient temperature shall be recorded during the test. Care shall be t
28、aken to minimize radiant heat effects. Requirements Measurement during the test Each contact of the specimen shall be capable of carrying the specified test current for a period of 1 h without exceeding the specified temperature rise of 30 K, unless otherwise specified in the detail specification.
