22、TAINING ALKALINE OR OTHER NON-ACID ELECTROLYTES SEALED NICKEL-CADMIUM PRISMATIC RECHARGEABLE SINGLE CELLS 1 General 1.1 Scope This International standard specifies marking, tests and requirements for sealed nickel- cadmium prismatic secondary single cells. NOTE In this context “prismatic” refers to

23、cells having rectangular sides and bases. Where there exists an IEC standard specifying test conditions and requirements for cells used in special applications and which is in conflict with this standard, the former takes precedence. 1.2 Normative references The following referenced documents are in

Page5 EN60622:200360622 IEC:2002 6 1.3 Terms and definitions For the purpose of this International Stand

27、ard, the definitions contained in IEC 60050-486 and the following apply. 1.3.1 sealed cell cell which remains closed and does not release either gas or liquid when operated within the limits of charge and temperature specified by the manufacturer. The cell is equipped with a safety device to prevent

28、 dangerously high internal pressure. The cell does not require addition to the electrolyte and is designed to operate during its life in its original sealed state 1.3.2 nominal voltage the nominal voltage of a sealed nickel-cadmium rechargeable single cell is 1,2 V 1.3.3 rated capacity quantity of e

29、lectricity C 5Ah (ampere-hours) declared by the manufacturer which a single cell can deliver when discharged at the reference test current of 0,2 I tA to a final voltage of 1,0 V at +20 C after charging, storing and discharging under the conditions specified in clause 4 1.4 Parameter measurement tol

30、erances The overall accuracy of controlled or measured values, relative to the specified or actual values, shall be within these tolerances: a) 1 % for voltage; b) 1 % for current; c) 2 C for temperature; d) 0,1 % for time; e) 1 % for capacity. These tolerances comprise the combined accuracy of the

31、measuring instruments, the measurement techniques used, and all other sources of error in the test procedure. For assistance in selecting instrumentation see IEC 60051 for analogue instruments and IEC 60485 for digital instruments. The details of the instrumentation used shall be provided in any rep

32、ort of results. Page6 EN60622:200360622 IEC:2002 7 2 Designation and marking 2.1 Cell designation Sealed nickel-cadmium prismatic secondary single cells shall be designated by the letters “KC” followed by a third letter L, M, H or X which signifies: low rate of discharge (L); medium rate of discharg

33、e (M); high rate of discharge (H); very high rate of discharge (X). NOTE These types of cells are typically but not exclusively used for the following discharge rates L up to 0,5 I tA, M up to 3,5 I tA, H up to 7,0 I tA, X up to and above 7,0 I tA. This group of three letters shall be followed by a

34、group of figures indicative of the rated capacity of the cell in ampere-hours. Example: KCH15. 2.2 Cell termination This standard does not specify cell termination. 2.3 Marking Each cell shall carry durable markings giving the following minimum information: designation as specified in 2.1, (in addit

35、ion, it is permissible for a manufacturer to use his own type designation); name or identification of manufacturer or supplier; positive terminal: either a red washer or an indented or raised symbol, (see graphical symbol 5005 of IEC 60417). 2.4 Safety recommendations The manufacturer shall provide

36、recommendations for the safe handling of the cell. See also IEC 61438. 41、e based on the value of the rated capacity. In all tests, with the exception of that specified in 4.7, the cells shall be placed in conditions such that their large lateral sides cannot be deformed under the effect of internal pressure. 4.1 Charging procedure for test purposes Prior to charging, the

42、 cells shall have been discharged at 20 C 5 C, at a constant current of 0,2 I tA, down to a final voltage of 1,0 V. Unless otherwise specified in this standard, the charge, preceding the various discharge tests scheduled, shall be carried out in an ambient temperature of 20 C 5 C and at a constant c

43、urrent of 0,1 I tA. The duration of the charge shall be 14 h to 16 h. 4.2 Discharge performance The following discharge tests shall be carried out in sequence given. All cells shall be tested at 20 C as well as at +5 C and/or 18 C. 4.2.1 Discharge performance at 20 C 4.2.1.1 Test procedure The cell

44、shall have been charged in accordance with 4.1. After charging, the cell shall be stored, in an ambient temperature of 20 C 5 C, for not less than 1 h and not more than 4 h. 47、ing at 0,2 I tA in an ambient temperature of at 20 C 5 C according to 4.2.1 4.2.1.2 Acceptance criteria The duration of discharge shall be not less than the minimum specified in Table 3. 4.2.2 Discharge performance at +5 C 4.2.2.1 Test procedure The cell shall have been charged in accordance with 4.

48、1. After charging, the cell shall be stored, in an ambient temperature of +5 C 2 C, for 24 h. Means must be provided to ensure that the electrolyte temperature has reached +5 C 2 C within 24 h. It shall then be discharged in the same ambient temperature and as specified in Table 4.
